And since it is a short rest (1 hour) you may roll to regain Hit Points by "spending" Hit Dice. Since you're level 4 you have 4 HD, you may throw 1 die (according to your current class) plus your constitution modifier to regain lost hp. Each time you do your HD reserve decrease by 1 (you can do it only 4 times). You regain up to 2 HD if you do a long rest (8 hours only once in 24 hours, including a 2 hours watch)

After Elias's reindeer is standing he turns to other matters, "Why are these creatures here?" hr mutters to himself examining the remaining piles of snow.
