And now more questions - because I want him to be a sailor, but there's neither a background, nor occupation for that (and honestly, I'm fine with Criminal and Technician), can I put Sailing as a Hobby and put the points from there in Vehicle Ops? And then I suppose I need to specify that it's for boats?

About Disadvantages - I'd like my PC to have problems understanding and using "modern" technologies - computers, cell phones etc. Would Limitation cover this? I'll also disregard anything in Technician that has to do with computers and phones.

There are a few ways to tackle that. If your character's hobby really is Sailing, you could go that route. But remember you gain a number of skill points in Dexterity skills equal to your Dexterity modifier, and a number of skill points to spend in ANYTHING equal to your Intelligence Score. So you could get ranks in Vehicle Ops from those places. I'd prefer you go that way, and make your character a little more three dimensional using Hobbies to flesh out his other interests.

Well, let's put it this way - it's something he's been doing for quite some time and really enjoys. From a metagaming perspective, I'd like to bump his skill to at least 1d4 to start with, because tbh I expect it to stay there for the rest of the game.

I'll move some points around, but I'll probably spend at least one "hobby" point there, the rest will go elsewhere.

Also, may I request more info on the "Talented" feat, when you get the time?

I'm submitting my in-progress character sheet. Still lots to do, but I think I'm almost done with the more maths-heavy things.

Feel free to PM me if need be, but you’re welcome to make changes to my character sheet as you see fit. I’m sure I made a lot of errors :P

When I submit mine you are welcome to make any math changes as needed, although also let me know so I know what I did wrong (if there's ever a "next time").

I don't mind if it's in the thread or via PM though. Whatever works.

@FlyingSucculent, a few quibbles with your character sheet, and a few problems of my own making...

Reputation is Charisma Modifier + ranks in Presence + Level + Misc. The sheet currently doesn't calculate the level into the equation, and there is no slot for a Misc bonus.

The sheet has nowhere for one's Level to be recorded.

It's Animal Ken, not Animal Kinship

This one's on me, there is nowhere for carrying capacity, or a push, pull, and lift score.

This isn't anywhere to record Tool Training or Specializations for skills, which I only introduced today, so that's on me as well

It think that's it for now. Thank for making a sheet that auto-calculates.

Posting here is my preference, since I always get confused when GMs edit my sheets. :D

Oops, forgot the level indeed. Here is the line for level:

As for miscellaneous bonuses, I was simply going to add them by hand, since adding a new column to the table makes it way too wide for my taste. But with specialization, I guess it's going to be too wide anyway now, so I'll mess around and see what looks good.

And here is the reputation with level added and an editable bonus, for now:

It's a personal preference, Animal Ken just sounds weird to me. XD They are basically the same thing, aren't they? Either way, it should be easy to edit, since it's just text!

Alright, this feels petty on my part, but I'm doing this anyway, but not in a mocking manner, I'm open to renaming Animal Ken, I just didn't like calling it Animal Handling:

Ken = one's range of knowledge or sight.
"such determination is beyond my ken"

This is also NOT a hill I want to die on, I'm more explaining my thought process. Modern20 flat out removed the Animal Handling skill, which I disagreed with, and replaced it with the Influence skill and a Feat. 🀒 I didn't like that; Modern20 basically put ALL Social interactions under one skill. It was honestly one of the system's only, and biggest, failings, at least in my eyes.

Sorry sorry! I'll post it here, it's buried in the Athletics skill.

Lifting
How much a character can lift is dependent on his Lifting Score. Calculating your Lifting Score is simple: Strength Modifier + Athletics RANKS + Athletics Skill Bonus + Athletics Equipment Modifier + Athletics General Modifier. These all use their Static modifier.

The table below lists the maximum amount a character can move or lift. How much weight a character is hauling around will also affect his movement and/or defense, as explained below.


Light Load: Your character can lift and carry this amount of weight without penalty.
Medium Load: If your character is carrying this amount of weight he suffers a –10 ft. movement penalty, a –3 Equipment penalty to Defense and a –3 Equipment penalty to the following skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, Arcana (when casting spells), Conjuration (while conjuring), Endurance, Heavy-Weapons, Legerdemain, Maneuvering, Melee, Occultism (when casting rituals), Resistance, Reflexes, Riding and Stealth.
Heavy Load: If your character is carrying this amount of weight he suffers a –20 ft. movement penalty, a –3 Equipment penalty to Defense and a –3 Equipment penalty to the following skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, Arcana (when casting spells), Conjuration (while conjuring), Endurance, Heavy-Weapons, Legerdemain, Maneuvering, Melee, Occultism (when casting rituals), Resistance, Reflexes, Riding and Stealth.
Max Load: If your character is carrying this amount of weight his maximum movement is 5 ft. per round. Your character is also always considered Surprised and has a maximum Defense of 10. You kind of got the roll. Here is what it should look like:

Huh, didn't know that ken meant knowledge. Well, I'm not asking to rename it either way, I just named it this on my sheet for my own editing sake. :D (I bet no one noticed, but Vehicle Op's variable is just named Vehicles, too.)

Wait, I'm confused now. What is a general modifier?

Total equipment variable modifier - Does this have to be separate? I was going to just add it to bonus, since it wasn't in your equation in the rules discussion. Did you change it?
