The whole kidnapping from Eva's shape dropping down next to the table, to her taking off again, to her landing by the van and pushing Brian inside takes little more than the blink of an eye. Brian tries to resist initially, but once he realizes Eva's hold of him is secure, he gives up his struggle and allows her to take him into the van. Only in there does the situation calm down again enough for Brian to take a glance around. "I'm not fighting back," Brian states, looking at Eva. "I'm not foolish enough to think I would stand a chance." Then turning his eyes to the woman behind the steering wheel, he puts on a smile that surely can't be genuine and says, "I have some experience with resentment after a difficult breakup, but I can't say that any of my exes has resorted to kidnapping me before you, Augusta."

The bodyguard doesn't try to stop Dave, but once the immortal man is gone, he pushes himself to his feet after the heavy hit, his expression hard as he pushes through the bruises the chair almost certainly inflicted on him. He places a heavy hand on Melissa's shoulder. "You're coming with me, Miss Kort."

She's been waiting, hat pulled low to avoid recognition from passersby and staff, but as the beater car rocks with Eva and Dave's weight, she is nearly caught by surprise. Still, the fraction of a moment passes and she's ready.

Augusta pins the gas before the doors are even closed, and deftly pulls into a hole in traffic. Of course he recognizes me, the hat isn't that good. "Hi, sweetie. You just sit tight and we'll find a nice quiet spot to speak without your new girl getting in the way."

She focusses then, her agile mind playing the shitbox car like a baby grand.

"If he gets mouthy, be a doll and put him to sleep, would you?" she says, eyes meeting Eva's in the rear view mirror.

Dave's idea suits Mellisa just fine as she acts surprised and indignant at the intrusion. She draws the line at crying though and thinks her modification of his suggestion is better.

"What the hell is going on here? Who are you people?"

As she grips her chair and slides it back away from the violence, she can't help but notice how much fun Dave is having. She has to admit to herself before she judges Dave that she is thoroughly enjoying Brian's abduction.

Her fun is abruptly cut short when she feels a hand firmly gripping her shoulder. Twisting her head around she realizes its the bodyguard.

Shrugging hard she says, "I'm not going anywhere with you. I'll scream."

The bodyguard does not seem impressed by Melissa's threat. The grip on her shoulder does not loosen as he says, "That would be an understandable reaction to seeing your boyfriend get abducted right in front of you." He raises the stun baton in his hand in what appears like a casual gesture but is almost certainly meant to draw Melissa's attention to it. "Just come with me. We can keep you safe from those criminals."

OOC:

If she's not going with the bodyguard willingly, he will try to stun and take Mel. I am adding a Trouble roll to this post. If Melissa is going with him, she can just ignore the roll. If she's trying to get away, build a pool and roll against the Trouble result of 7.
(Wow, did this guy roll terribly. Also, if you spend a Plot Point to activate the Complication, that die will be removed from the Trouble Pool as well)

Melissa leans into the man and with all the force she can muster, slams her elbow into whatever part of his body the elbow meets. Then she stands up and shrieks.

"This man is trying to kidnap me! Help!" Then she runs outside, presuming the bodyguard backs off and the nearby patrons at least look like they might intervene.

Eva is intently watching Brian as he says he won't struggle, and as Augusta tells her to paste him good if he shoots off his mouth. With a guy like this, though, when is he not shooting off his mouth? What a douche. What did Ang and Melissa both see in him, the blonde wonders.

"Will do, just say the word," Eva answers, her fists clenched and her leg tremoring, bouncing with nervous energy. Her body has been flooded with adrenaline, and she is ready -- so fucking ready -- for more action.

"Who are you working with at Wyvern Lake?" she can't keep herself from asking.

Melissa isn't quite sure where her elbow had struck, but it seems to have been the right spot as the man takes a step back from her and is dazed by her attack long enough for her to jump up and run. She flees through the chaos Dave had left behind in the dining room and out onto the street. The van with the others is gone. They left her behind. And certainly, it would not be long until Brian's bodyguard will have shaken the effects of her attack. Perhaps the other patrons or the waitstaff would make him trouble, but right here, all alone on the street, Melissa is not yet safe.

Brian looks like he has a smart response to Augusta's words but he doesn't say it out loud. Perhaps he doesn't feel quite sure how serious she is about her threat and he does not relish the thought of Eva putting out his lights.
When the blonde speaks to him, however, he turns his head to look at her as best he can and asks, "Are we really doing this here in the van? I was hoping you'd at least take me into your secret supervillain lair before you start interrogating me." He turns his eyes to Augusta. "I would have expected that much style from you at least, Augie."

Brian chuckles and turns his eyes to Eva for a moment. "Keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep," he says. "But Wyvern Lake and Plaxo are helping people, including you, Eva, when you needed us." He smiles and adds, "Meanwhile, you're going around kidnapping people and letting a sweet girl like Melissa take the fall for it. Aren't you the tiniest bit ashamed? Well, I promise my people will take good care of her."

Eva scowls, shakes her head, says, "Sorry about this, Augusta," then punches Brian in the face -- hard. Hard enough to break his nose, and knock him out. When he's out cold and slumped in his seat, the woman relieves him of his phone, wallet and keys.

"Now he won't know where we take him," she says with satisfaction.

Once outside, Melissa stares up and down the street in disbelief as she tries to catch her breath.

"The fuckers left me? What the hell?" She glances both ways again. There has to be a vehicle parked somewhere. Pulling out her phone she first texts Dave and then Augusta asking where the hell they are and that someone better come get her.

She winces at the bone crunching punch. Oh, his pretty nose! She grits her teeth, thinking of what he did to her. Her fingers bruise the steering wheel under the savagery that fights to consume her.

"He kept saying that he knew Melissa was in on this, but frankly, he can only suspect, unless he's bugged her. We should get Dave to do some spy stuff and check her out.

We are in a tough spot now. He's going to complain about this later, and we don't have the leverage to keep him silent. The only play we have is to roofie him into last week, or threaten him with violent vengeance if any of us get hauled in by the police."

Melissa feels the phone vibrate.

This will be Augusta I hope.

Sure enough, it was. Much relieved, she walks briskly to the car glancing behind her for the bodyguard, then hustles inside and heads for the meeting place. Only now does she begin to unwind from the craziness of the restaurant, replaying the scene in her head. Dave was quite the showman and clearly enjoyed himself. Was that a good or bad thing, she wondered.

Unexpectedly popping up from the back seat in Melissa's car as she pulls out of the parking lot, Dave's face looms in her rear view mirror. "Good escape. Bodyguard give you any trouble?" he asked, as if that were a perfectly normal conversation to have. He looked behind the car to check for anyone tailing them.

Melissa jumps, slams on the brake, and shrieks. "For God's sake, Dave! I swear you enjoy scaring the shit out of people!" The rattled woman takes a few deep breaths, composes herself, and pulls into another parking space.

"Do you want to get into the front seat like a normal person and tell me what happened? You got the bastard and are breaking his fingers one by one, right?"

"I saw the van peel away, so yeah, I figure Eva snatched him right into the van." Dave replied after Melissa got the car going again. "I didn't want to leave you behind in case the bodyguard or the cops got grabby but I couldn't be seen lurking around. Hiding in your car seemed like the best option..." He considered trying to climb into the front seat but there just wasn't enough room for that so he settled for staying in the back. "I figured you'd use your powers and look in your car before just getting in..." he settled back into the seat, stretching out his back from where he'd been doubled over. "Given that we just kidnapped somebody with super-sketchy connections, you might wanna start using those peepers of yours to stay one step ahead of anyone that might be after you."

"I thought I had been abandoned. I was so panicked it never occurred to me to look in the car. I'm still ... adjusting I guess."

Melissa took her foot off the brake which she realized was pushing down so hard that her foot began to ache.

"Ugh. Ok so where exactly are we going? I think I know the way but you can direct me, seeing as I'm your chauffeur," she said with a sarcastic tone, alluding to the fact that she had pulled over so Dave could hop out and sit in the front.
