Don't worry, the system is very simple. You have 7 attributes for which you roll 8+2d3. Actions require you to roll equal to or under an attribute on a d20. Roll 1 or your attribute, it's a critical success, roll 20, it's a critical failure. Easier or more difficult actions are rolld at Advantage or Disadvantage respectively. And there you go, you have about 80%+ of the rules right there.

P.41 states that starting characters can start with up to 1 Purchase roll at the referee's discretion. So, you know what, go ahead and give yourself a Purchase Roll.
