I've submitted with my character. Meet Dante Everett, cursed blood, disowned noble, prodigal son. I'm sure I'll still make a lot of mistakes during the campaign, but I'm excited to play!

I really liked your sheet :). The skills are very nice. But I couldn’t find a way to add more weapons past the first two.
Thanks! Yea, it's not ideal, gotta do some copy/paste but I haven't found a better way... anyway, I've added more weapons for ya. =)

I like that pic. Also mistakes aren't all bad, my dad said I was one and look at me now! :) *sorry dark humour*

How do you calculate HP when leveling up if your CON modifier increases? For example...
At level 1, CON is +2, so HP is 8 (from ancestry) + 10 (from class) + 2 (CON mod)

Then in the future when CON is +3, do you only do current HP + (10+3), or do you take into account all previous levels, so 8 (ancestry) + ((10+3)*level)?

You take into account all previous levels so HP is always (Class * Level) + (Current CON Mod * Level) + Ancestry base. Feats like toughness will add on, or if you take a dedication to something like Paladin or Barbarian and take their Resiliency feat that can add on as well. There are also Ancestry feats for some ancestries that bump your starting Ancestry bonus up as well.

Nice, thanks! Is it the same for other increases? For instance, do humans get an extra language when their INT modifier increases?

And for rangers:
"Trained in a number of additional skills equal to 4 plus your Intelligence modifier"
Do you gain "trained" in more skills as INT increases too? :O
If so, I'm guessing you can't use this to go from trained to expert in an existing skill; it would have to be a new skill from untrained to trained...?

Anything that advances based on an ability modifier is retroactive, so if you increase your INT then you get another skill, another language, etc. The only time you can increase a skill from trained to expert, expert to master, or master to legendary is when your level grants "skill increase"

Here is the text from the Rogue on Skill Increase:
Quote:
You gain more skill increases than members of other classes. At 2nd level and every level thereafter, you gain a skill increase. You can use this increase to either become trained in one skill you’re untrained in, or to become an expert in one skill in which you’re already trained.

At 7th level, you can use skill increases to become a master in a skill in which you’re already an expert, and at 15th level, you can use them to become legendary in a skill in which you’re already a master.
Note that each class gets skill increases in different quantities and at different levels. For example the Fighters text on Skill Increase looks like this:
Quote:
At 3rd level and every 2 levels thereafter, you gain a skill increase. You can use this increase either to increase your proficiency rank to trained in one skill you’re untrained in, or to increase your proficiency rank in one skill in which you’re already trained to expert.

At 7th level, you can use skill increases to increase your proficiency rank to master in a skill in which you’re already an expert, and at 15th level, you can use them to increase your proficiency rank to legendary in a skill in which you’re already a master.
So you can see the Rogue gets far more Skill Increases than a fighter, which means they will be able to have more skills at the higher tiers of proficiency by the end of their 20 levels.

Excellent, thanks so much for your help! I'm finding all this pretty fun. =)

In other news, I'm working through the GM guide from the beginner's box. Looks like we're waiting for 1 character from @Dragonling (need any help?), then once I've got a decent grasp on the first few adventure scenes and have synced up with @Miss_Sadie, I'll get a game thread started.

Is there anything in the beginner box I should stay away from, as a player? 'Everything' is an acceptable answer lol.

Just the GM guide, since it contains the adventure. =)

No problem, happy to help, I am excited to play :)

I've had a hectic last few days so haven't gotten a chance to sit down and read the GM guide properly. Setting aside some time tomorrow to make sure I get a good portion of it done!

Hey guys, I think I will have to leave the game. Some unexpected problems have arisen in my life and I can't give much time to this. I don't see myself getting a ton more time soon, and co running a game isn't something I want to not give time to. I'd love to stay and read it, if none of you mind. Sorry :/

No worries, @Miss_Sadie, hope things get better sooner than later. =)

I have definitely been here, I hope things read equilibrium for you soon.

Yup, not a problem, hope all goes well for you Miss_Sadie!

Thank you ❤️ Hopefully it gets better, agreed @_@

Alright, everyone, I'm pretty much ready. I think we can begin, since PBP gives me a nice buffer for research if I get stumped anyway.

Only hitch is I haven't been able to get a hold of @Dragonling, so we can begin with a party of 3 and I'll adjust encounters accordingly, or if any of you have a buddy who's willing to join, feel free to pull them in.

If more than 1 person wants to invite someone, we'll let the dice decide. =)
Feb 26, 2023 8:10 pm
I don't have anyone specific to invite at this time. Though I think there was some extra folks that may have replied on the initial thread?
Feb 27, 2023 7:46 pm
Just wanted to make sure before I polluted the other thread lol

Do you want that in character, or out of character?
