I was talking with Yeo OOC the other day and came to the amusing realization that despite some wild deviations from canon, they've happened in just the right combination that, so far, several major story beats still get to happen.

I'm loving it.

Is the goal here to roughly approximate similar obstacles and events as the original Oddysey? Whatever the case, I certainly am enjoying it!

It started that way, but now I'm just kinda seeing what happens. You guys chose to help Stelios, for instance, taking you a little off course. So I check the map, see what fun encounters are nearby, and go from there. You might make it back to Ithaca or at least Sparta in a reasonable amount of time.

Glad you're enjoying it!

The research whiplash has been a thing. On one hand there's "Oh hey, here's a map of the currents of the Greek Seas, and they match up with some of the routes mentioned!" and on the other hand there's "Oh... Sparta was *absolutely* a Lawful Evil society... shit"

So, the oracle mechanic includes a possible godly intervention every time a divine spell is cast. Attacks of opportunity, weird magic effects, etc. This really only works in combat, so crits get little flashes - an image and a couple words. Side effects depend on whether it was a 20 or a 1.

OOC:
Themis, the goddess of Justice, Order, Law, and Custom. Also the goddess of the Oracle at Delphi. When she is ignored, such as in the breaking of social custom, her wrathful sister Nemesis brings retribution, especially in acts of kinslaying. The two were known to share temples.

Hi, all! Life's a bit wild around Christmas time and considering how many different groups have something this time of year, I imagine I'm not the only one. Rest assured I plan to continue if y'all want! Please include a navigation-related roll of your choice whenever you post next. I hope y'all are well!

Thank you for your patience, everyone! Between the littles and the busy season at church, I appreciate it.

Are you guys opposed to a college friend of mine joining us? She wants to learn to play, and I figured a casual game, in a setting she was loosely familiar with, that has a small group, could be a good start. My thought is that she takes over a crew member or even Chryseis, if you (especially LOM) are cool with that.

I'm cool with it, including if she does nab Chryseis.

Sounds good to me!

Quick note: I will NOT be around this weekend, I'm off doing Emergency Services training and repeating "I am not too old for this" over and over in my head.

Thank you so much. I'll spare you all the details but dang skippy the past few weeks have been a sprint. We're all fine! It was just more than a bit chaotic.

aaaand that is why plate armor was invented :D Even though, it couldn't feel good getting hit by one of those things, even if it didn't puncture your helmet/armor.

I saw a fella get hit in the plates from quite a distance, knocked him flat on his back and knocked him out. He lived, but he had the biggest bruise I've ever seen.
