Two options, only hardship. Paul rolls the ideas around in his head and tries to consider things analytically. "I have to say, I'm probably inclined to want to see this bane spirit firsthand," he says to the others. "Would anyone want to join me? I've spent some time studying this stuff, but to actually have some kind of contact with it, for real...it would be like I'd fallen through the TV screen and into a show I'd only watched before."

Blah blah spirit bullshit Misha thought as she crossed her arms once more. Sending kids like good little troopers. What if someone got hurt or died? They die heroes? Fuck these assholes.
She scowled at Hook Hand, the usual posture she took with the Get. She had tried running, she had tried fighting, and practically every time it was that prick who ran her down, beat the shit out of her and dragged her back. He was the reason she refused to become Get herself, even though some ancestor lineage bullshit pointed her that way. Fuck him.
But she wasn't in the mood for getting her teeth kicked out again, so she kept quiet. Like a good little trooper..

"Sure, why not?" Patrick replies. "Let's go kick the shit out of the little firestarter."

The South Pack: Fire in the Forest
Caern Warder Hook Hand gives you directions to the location where this disturbance is centered at, a glen about 15 miles distant. That’s a days long journey in Homid form, and travelling in Crinos is not an option, and of course, in the deep forest no vehicle could get there, even if you had a vehicle to take, so the solution seems obvious: shift into lupus (or hispo).
Ability Check—Shifting Forms: Roll Stamina + Primal-Urge. Difficulty is 6 for Lupus (7 for Hispo) but requires 4 success to shift to Lupus (only 3 to Hispo).
Failure: If a player can’t succeed in a timely fashion, they can always spend a point of rage to shift immediately.

"What we need is a hook-up with a helicopter." Patrick starts walking, grumbling the whole way.

"I'm sure one of these guys will whine about helicopters being bad for nature and all that shit." Misha added to that sentiment. Although getting a helicopter would never have been her idea. A bit out of her day-to-day life, that..
She looked over at Rat Food with a sigh.
"Looks like we're doing this your way eh?"
She had turned into a wolf a few times at the insistence of the elders but she didn't like being an animal. She headed off to a shed with a sideways glance at the boys.
"I'm going to change. If any of you take a peek I'm plucking out your eyes."
She headed inside one of the sheds to undress. She piled up her clothes inside so they kept dry. Then, with a sigh she began to will her body to change. It still felt weird to her to feel her body change, muscles and bones warping under her skin. And she knew it was hard to go fully to the wolf form, so she first went to the big murdermachine form. That one was at least a little fun. As a petite girl in hard surroundings she had sometimes lamented her lack of strength, which she had to compensate for with attitude. But the werewolf form was one big hulking mountain of muscle. She liked the power it gave her. She wondered if men felt that way all the time.
As she turned to Crinos she expanded to twice her size. She had to duck to not bump her head and the small shed barely had enough size to hold her. And then the anger surged forward from the back of her mind. Rage the older werewolves called it. It was a buzz when she was human but now she was a werewolf it pumped through her veins. Made her want to rip and tear something apart. Her anger at the treatment she had received so far enhanced that. But she kept her mind on the task and continued on to the wolf form.
When she emerged it immediately became plain to those in the know why the elders thought she was of the Get of Fenris. Misha's wolf form was of a hulking gray wolf. The wolf's shoulders were rippling with muscle and her maw had notably large fangs. Sleek and thick fur covered her form. Misha still felt oddly naked though, but she plodded over to Rat Food and sat down next to him with a resigned sigh.

OOC:
So remember- shifting is technically an extended test. You need one success for each form shift- so to go from Homid to Lupus requires 4 successes (passing Glabro, Crinos, Hispo), but you can roll the test once/round if you don't get all the successes in one shot. (Out of combat this is really kind of irrelevant, but I wanted to make sure we were doing it this first time so we are familiarizing ourselves with how it works for when shifting in combat rounds comes up).Mar 21, 2023 11:59 pm

Seeing the others change Paul mutters, "well, I guess I have no choice." The effort strains him, but eventually, Paul makes the transition. "Perhaps I've spent too much time pretending to be a human."

Diana moves to the side as well to start shifting. The 'pack' they had needed up with was an interesting g one. Now they just had to prove they were capable.
Her Lupus form is that of an elegant white wolf which is dwarved by Misha as she goes to stand next to her ready for the others to shift.

After everyone gets shifted, you depart for the location. . .
The "clearing" is a scorched area about thirty feet across, where the trees that had been in the center have been burned to oddly misshapen stakes sticking up. The fire consumed all the ground cover, and seemingly everything in its path to the edges of this area, but then it seemed to disappear without a trace—there is no transitory period, there is total destruction and there is untouched forest.

Patrick will begin sniffing around -- figuratively and literally -- for any clues about what's going on. He didn't know too much about spirits and mystical bull, but he had listened to stories growing up. The question was, did any if it seem like it mattered?

Patrick realizes that entering the Umbra might help see this with a view that would give some additional information.
OOC:
Slipping sideways requires a reflective surface, then a Gnosis roll against the Gauntlet-- 3 successes is instant transfer, 2 successes requires 30 seconds, 1 success requires 5 minutes, 0 they cannot attempt again for an hour; the Gauntlet here is 5 (Deep Wilderness).Mar 23, 2023 1:57 am
"Aye yo, I know we're all running around as naked mutts or whatever, but is there anything reflective around? Probably get a better read on the other side," Patrick asks the others.
OOC:
For the record, during creation I briefly considered specifying that his fetish was chromed-out and, as such, reflective... but decided against it. We will need a different option.Mar 23, 2023 3:18 am
In its own unique way, it is refreshing to see these things play out in different forms. Being a wolf again, truly, was maybe something Paul wasn't expecting to enjoy as much as he was while sniffing around for clues. Burn marks like these, especially when there is a spirit of some kind nearby don't just happen. He racked his brain trying to figure out what might have caused it, thinking that maybe he'd come across it in his studies.

Paul also thinks that looking in the Umbra would help, and looking around he and Patrick find a pool of water reflective enough to let them slip sideways.

'We have fur.. She knew the others were new to this but being a wolf hadn't been awkward till he said that and made it awkward. The other side could be a good idea.
