Tate is glad to see a living human but being lower ranking than anyone else in the away team, does nothing more than nod a greeting and guard the door.

Nervark checks his tricorder readings, hoping that something is different about the interference here in Stellar Cartography.

The ensign tried to stand at attention, but seemed wobbly and sighed as he leaned back against the console.
https://i.imgur.com/CqfCOXMs.png "Ensign James LaSalle, Astro Sciences, sir!. " Frowning, he continued. "I'm fairly sure I'm the only one left alive from the crew. We were just a skeleton crew, and things were going fine. That is, right up until the warp field test. As the warp engines engaged, they overloaded and caused a several series of cascading system failures. While we were drifting, the subspace interference built while we tried repairing the damage by working around the clock."

He closed hie eyes with a deeper sigh before continuing. "Shortly after we drifted into open, unclaimed space a Romulan Warbird decloaked and sent a boarding party over. Captain Kelly and the rest of us fought, but it was hopeless. Once the Romulans got control of engineering, they locked out most of the systems, transferring all the ship controls down there. About that time, the boarding party called for reinforcements but for some reason, the Warbird was gone. From what I can tell, they received some strange signal before turning away and cloaking."

The ensign sat down and gestured at the various consoles. "I've been trying to subtly work past the lockout and get these systems up and running so I can track the signal. I know the coordinates, I just don't know what's out there. I'm a Physicist, not an engineer yet so it's been slow going. The only thing I've been able to do was get enough control to give you all the opening in the Shuttlebay and some door controls here and there."

It appears that the interference is still the same, if not stronger in this area.

Momentum: 3
Threat: 8
Directives:
* Starfleet's Prime Directive is in place
* Recover the missing Oberth-class starship U.S.S. Alcubierre.
* Prevent Starfleet technology from falling into enemy hands.

Traits in Play
Subspace Interference: Sensor scans and communications are severely disrupted by the Subspace Interference being generated from the Alcubierre.
Subspace Interference (away team): Combadges will not work due to this interference. Tricorders only function on people and objects within Reach (arm’s length of a Player Character).
Emergency Lighting: This Trait increases the Difficulty by 1 for ranged weapon attacks and Tasks to observe or identify characters or objects at Medium range and beyond.
Disabled: Most ship systems are offline. This affects turbolifts, doors, transporters, sensors, communications, replicators, warp and impulse engines. Life-support and other vital functions are operational via auxiliary power.

"We are the away team of U.S.S. Phobos. Lt. Scofield and team. We encountered the Romulans just now. I fear they may return soon. We'll need to evacuate you along with any classified scientific research and items." Fenris responds as he looks around for any clues as to what important scientific research equipment they need to salvage from the Alcubierre and just to get a general idea of what kind of research the physician might have been conducting.

https://i.imgur.com/CqfCOXMs.png Ensign LaSalle shook his head, sighing. "I'm definitely happy to see you all Lieutentant. Until we can get control back from the Romulans, none of us are going anywhere. The limited control I had to help you with the landing bay is not available any more."

He took a deep breath. "Ever since that Warbird left, I've been afraid it was just going to pop back up. As such, I've been trying to track the source of the signal, but with everything locked out, I can't quite get the power I need for the cartography systems to get a lock."
His fingers flew over the controls. "But, if you all can give me a hand, I think we can get enough power around the lockout to get these cartography systems fully operational again to see just who may be helping the Romulans... " He looked up expectantly.
OOC:
Two things need to be done to get control back.
1) Bypass the lockout - Control + Engineering with a Difficulty of 3. If succeed at that, then can...
2) Siphon Power to Auxiliary systems - Reason + Engineering with a Difficulty of 3.

Everything here seems to be focused on the general stellar regions, nothing unusual. A couple of the readouts do confirm that there's a subspace field of "static" focused on the engineering section.

"Right..." Fenris hesitates for a moment as he realizes his plan to rush off with the scientist and all the important research and save the day is not going to be so simple after all.
"Sounds like an engineering job. Who has the best expertise in this field to get the power diverted to the cartography system" he asks looking around at the team.
OOC:
With 10 in Control and Reason by only 2 in Engineering Fenris is probably not the best in the team to do it.
Btw, is this an extented task or a one shot roll? If the latter is the case we might want to spend Momentum and assist to pull this off.

OOC:
It's a single roll, and whoever wants to help can assist on each with a single d20

OOC:
If I understand properly, On 1d20 I am trying to roll below my Control (8) + Engineering (3) scores (Target=11) in hopes to get a success that will be added to the player's successes that attempts to Bypass the Lockout.

I also will contribute a Reason(10) + Engineering(3) to add to the player successes who Siphons Power to Auxiliary Systems.

OKAY...it looks like Nevark has contributed 2 successes.

Chuck is also not the best engineer in the average mess hall, but like most of Starfleet personnel, he has some cross training.
OOC:
I'll add a d20 to Korias' attempt.

Fenris listens to Nevark's technical advice on how to bypass the lockout. Seeing how no one else steps up he takes the responsibility as a team leader should in situations like these. Following Nevark's instructions he presses a few button on the control panel.
OOC:
Spending 3 points of momentum to buy extra 2d20.

TH lockout is definitely beaten, with 2 momentum added back to the pool.

You can now tackle the Reason+Engineering to siphon the power...

"Nicely done. Now I see that we might be able to route here..." Nevark points to diagrams on the display, "and siphon this amount...yes...there's auxiliary systems. Perhaps this will do." He presses a series of controls. "Hmm...there's something else we need...what do you think is missing?" He asks Scofield.
