Irwin sees Joran leave and smiles, "Well that’s our cue then. Nara take point, once we hit the forest line move quietly. The rest of us will match your pace as best as we can." He grabs one final mouthful of food before getting his gear and following the Dwarf.

As instructed, once they hit the forest line Nara will have the others wait while he moves forward quietly, establishing a good lead distance based on line of sight before gesturing for the party to follow.

On the walk leading up to the woods, he would have covered the issue of pacing so no one should be unsure of how to proceed as they make their way through the foliage.

The forest has a lot of brush and is not with heavy treeage overcast. Still this leaves a good 40' vision range consistency. The lower brush doesn't slow the parties movement. It does make anything shorter difficult to track. It is a nice sunny day.

Party quickly falls into that humm drumm marching after an hour. As there is nothing but forest. And unless something changes, this is what it will be like for the next 4 days.

Camping thoughts & provisions.. Looks like 3 tents and 2 lanterns.

Irwin -- 5 Rations, Bedroll, Tent, Lantern & 3 Oil
Nara -- 0 Rations, Bedroll

I recall some mention of someone burning a goodberry daily for rations.

So I don't know anything about tents-- I planned to sleep in my Mordenkainan's Private Sanctum most nights unless I had been forced to burn the spell slot during the day.

Edit: actually re-reading the spell it's not the one that does what I thought it did, and the other one at a lower level that does do more what I thought only lasts a minute and is therefore 100% useless. . . 5th ed definitely wonked some of these wizard non-combat spells.

Looking up through the foliage, Roland takes a deep breath and exhales slowly. It's been a while since he's been out in the wild and he'd forgotten just how much he enjoys it.

During the march the young Cleric periodically slows to check behind the group - just to make sure there aren't any surprises as they move along - before quickly catching back up with the others.

OOC:

Roland has a two man tent, and would be willing to let others use it while he's on watch.

Irwin finds the place and movement of the group relaxing after years of Military forced matches, and for once he is allowed to take rear guard removing the tense a little for him.

Just like Roland he takes his turn to check behind the group, and with the slow pace it allows him to remove some of the evidence of their passing.

@Alordis Did you mean Leomond's Tiny Hut? That has a casting time of 1 minute, but the spell itself lasts for 8 hours.

And Gene, Nara was going to use goodberry and foraging for sustenance for the group.

Nara will continue to move forward, quietly picking his way through the forest while watching for any signs of danger.

It has been a few hours now as the party rest a bit of eat and such. Nothing has really changed since they first entered except perhaps more mosquitoes. I'm guessing this is the time Nara is going to cast Goodberrry rather than the party start devouring their rations. You do note that you haven't seen really any animal tracks either, but it has only been a few hours.

Nara, who has been snacking on berries and a few edible leaves as he stealthily made his way through the forests, will pose a question to the others: "A goodberry provides enough nutrients for a day. I'll cast it now for tonight, but going forward do we want it for breakfast? That way we can just forage and snack as we travel? Or would we prefer it as an evening thing?

As he asks, he will use a sprig of mistletoe to conjure ten plump, juicy berries into his open hand before offering two to everyone.

Roland plucks the offered berries from Nara's hand and wastes no time plopping one into his mouth, saving the other for later.

"I'm not too picky when it comes to food; rations are rations. As long as they keep us moving forward, I'll be happy."

You hear a semi loud snort from the big boar and all the boars rush to attack the party leaving their hidden spots but fail to gain surprise but do manage at least to be close. Breaks up the hum drum of the day. Attack is right lunch time but at least the weather is good.
