OK tweaked survivalist so it is less about nature and more about self preservation.
Survivalist says:
Through trying times you developed and instinctive sense of self preservation. You gain Advantage when Testing to scavenge, seek shelter, or avoid predator.
Spell Reader is as follows still relies on reading and using the true tongue in written form. You can create your own but this requires time, effort and money depending on the desired effect.
Spell Reader says:
You have spent years learning the true language of the arcane world, allowing you to read power-laced words from magic scrolls. You have mastered a few arcane words, inscribed into your talisman, that you can combine to craft spell scrolls. The more words combined the greater the effect and the more costly the scroll and longer it takes to craft. Spells crafted only using mastered words take half the time cost.
# Word | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
|
Minutes | 1 | 6 | 60 | 600
|
Gold | 1 | 10 | 100 | 1,000 |
Any spell crafted without using only these words will be at disadvantage and cost more. Attempts to craft scrolls or talismans for effects you have not mastered may fail wasting time and money. This is why most spell-readers will specialize in using the words they know and trade with others. Most cities or counties will have a spell-reader you can trade with.
Example words and talismans: Fire(combust), life(heal), conceal(advantage to hide), speed(increased movement), wind(dust devil), break(Rot wood), mend(repair a cracked vase), etc.
Pick 3 scrolls and 4 words of power.
Define 2 two word scrolls and 1 three word scroll - or just give me 3 thing you want to be able to do and I will define them for you
Words of Power are single words that you can use any aspect of the word to create spells of your own in the future. If not in combat or speed is not an issue I will assume you will use power words to crate glyphs each time. For an instantaneous spell you can use the talisman of each word once a day
Each word of power you have is inscribed into an item you keep close. Ex: the handle of you ax, a small tablet, a pouch of river stones, etc. To enact the talisman you must hold the item with the word inscribed on it. After its use it will recharge for use again the next day.
This is a bit more complicated than then basics of the game that says I just let you know what spells you can find. If it is too much I can simplify it by giving you a few more scrolls and managing the crafting of scrolls for you or just go back to spell-touched.
