The First Sacrifice (RP)

"Oh really?!? And how do you think your wives are going to react when they hear that you had a chance to save defenseless children from being murdered, and you did nothing?" Albert throws at them in return.

'' Do your wives KNOW what is going on in the forest? Maybe if you tell them all that has happened today, they would like to join us? From the sound of it they are fierce women. Even you strong men are afraid of them!?''
Roald senses they are losing precious time.

'' We are losing time, and I for one don't want to be held accountable for the death of innocent children. Knowingly doing nothing is just as bad as aiding the enemy.

We are getting ready to leave, I hope you'll join us, but we are happy to go by ourselves ''

In a quieter voice, but just hard enough for everyone to hear he says to his companions.

'' And if there is some loot, we can split it in less parts''

"Oh, my apologies." Albert says as sarcastically as possible. "Yes, I'm sure they stabbed the mayor's son in the leg out of the goodness of their hearts."

"You're right, Roald." he adds after Roald's words. "We seem to be wasting our time here."

"No time like the present." Norbert grabs his axe and heads outside. "Thank you for not making this more difficult than it has to be." He says to the barkeep while he closes the door behind the dog.

Albert heads outside as well, following Norbert. On his way out he puts his shoulder under Daryl's arm to help him. "Are you sure you're up for this?"

Once outside Roald tells Albert about the gold coins.
'' You see Albert,... I don't know about this treasure... It doesn't sit well with me just taking it. Maybe we can give it back to the people in a helpful way?''

"That's a lot of money." Albert tells Roald. For a few seconds, he plays around with the idea of using it to rebuild his bar to its former glory. But then he remembers all the people from the village coming to offer Asha what little they had and realizes that this would be a selfish act.

"You're right. We should give it back to those who need it." He looks around to try and find a good place to donate this money to. A temple perhaps. "Do you think we should ask Norbert about it? He knows the region better than we do."

'' pssst, Norbert, we need your opinion on something. ''

Roald shows Norbert the bag of gold and tells him how they ended up with it

''What do you think Norbert? Who can we trust with this?''

"I don't believe anyone can be trusted with that much money. Most would run of to start a new life far away from the poverty that most live in in the valley." He thinks for a while and continues "There are no temples that I know of but I believe everyone would benefit with a great feast. People could sell some cattle, do a drink-stand and so on. You could have your own holliday to remember the saviour of the young girl."

"If we get to her in time." He adds with some urgency

"A feast. I love that idea, Norbert!" Albert proclaims.
"I know you said people can't be trusted, but do you think we can give them all or some of the money to start making preparations while we're gone?"

"Uhm, sir." Albert calls out to the man with the un-broken knee. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name. I'm Albert, by the way."
After some quick introductions, he continues. "Who would you say is the most honest and trustworthy person in this village?"

"Bartenders are generally trustworthy in my experience." Norbert says glancing at Albert. "And we know where we can find him" He adds as an afterthought. "The only other people I could think of is the family we spent the night 2 nights before. They have good connections in the village and seemed to be clever enough to organise a great feast."

"Alright." Albert can't help but smile a bit, noticing the glance, and feels a sense of pride inside. "It did seem like Olaf and Olga could really use some of that money for themselves. After their hospitality, I'd feel bad not to repay them in some way."

He thinks for a moment. "This is a really tough choice for me. I want to get to Theo as soon as possible, but we could probably do with some help. Then again... We're not sure if Olaf is willing to help. I'll trust your judgement on this." He tells Norbert and Roald.

Norbert looks at Roald expectantly, believing the comment was directed at the experienced adventurer.
