INTEREST CHECK - ACHTUNG! CTHULHU
A team of Section M agents engage on a daring mission to the remote mountains of Romania during February of 1941 in pursuit of the Huginn, a Nachtwolfe Zeppelin.
Game System: We are playing Achtung! Cthulhu, a pulpy World War II action adventure horror game using Modiphius' 2d20 system.
The Flavour: In Achtung! Cthulhu, a band of Allied heroes fight the Secret War against the Nazi Black Sun, and their rivals Nachtwolfe. Powered with ancient secreta and terrible Mythos allies, Black Sun and Nachtwolfe are on the verge of unleashing terrible weapons upon the Allied forces. This is pulp (high action adventure) Call of Cthulhu style horror.
Themes: This game explores mature themes. The game explores psychological and body horror, including violence and strong language. Victim discretion is advised.
"Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." – Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil
Character Options: The Player's Guide provides eight archetypes and they're all on the table. I'd like to take 4 players (possibly 5). The free Quickstart ruleset has five pre-generated characters.
Game Duration and Post Frequency: The adventure is prewritten, and should play for about four to six months at a reasonable pace. I can manage 1 post a day, more during combat scenes, and would expect players to be able to respond with 36 hours.
Specialized Resources: With the exception of a possible Discord channel for chat purposes (if requested), everything else with be on Gamers Plane.
Player Experience: This is something of a railroad, although there are many tracks and I certainly don't mind straying off the path. No player experience is necessary.
"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before." - Edgar Allan Poe, "The Raven"
GM Experience: This will also be my second run with the system. I have played more than a hundred game systems, run scores of game systems and in particular GMed scores of games on Gamers Plane. In real life I tend to free form sandbox and directly improv-style GMing, but on GP I prefer to have a road map to guide the game towards a conclusion. However, because I am an improv-style GM at heart, I adapt the game to player input but follow the tracks to keep us on pace.
How to Apply: Please speak up here. Indicate your comfort with darker themes, whether you understand the basics of 2d20 system or if you're entirely new, and how comfortable you are driving fiction forward.
Welcome All: This game is explicitly welcomes friends from all groups. Except Nazis. F those guys.
