Session 3: Frost and Fear in Fireshear

The duergar stops everything as he hears the name of Nezznar. "The Black Spider? He sent a letter?" Griggle's full attention finally turning to you. "How is my dear old friend? I haven't heard about him since... some mess with some spells on a forge or something down south. Maybe he found something useful there?"

He moves to grab the letter but he is interrupted by Agna. "I don't know what are elementals you're talking about. And I don't care as long as they don't bother me. I have more important things to do than deal with whatever those humans are up to."

"Aaargg, can't you just tell some of the townsfolk to deal with whatever mess they are in. I'm really close to cracking this one" he points at a pile of half molten jet-black ore. He sort of walks towards the door, take a very passing look at the outside and turns back to Izuhn "What? Mary left the stove on again? I bet it was because of that stupid lamb of hers which keeps running away"

Griggle stops considering Agna's words but quickly ignores the orc. "If the militia can handle a couple of giants, I'm sure they can turn off a stove... I can assure you those humans are not going anywhere far from those rich little mines of theirs. Now, why don't you show me what good old Nezznar has to tell me?"

"Ah, one of them is sensible at least. You say those things looking to mess with my forge?" he looks a bit suspiciously at Adaia. "You say you can help with that?"

Griggle takes the letter from Izuhn. He doesn't try to hide its contents, so Adaia can easily see it. However, all she can see is an inscrutable cipher, which she assumes involves some sort of Undercommon script and several odd markings, possible something similar to elven Sign Language.

Griggle's eyebrows shoot up as he read the coded letter, and then shouts in excitement and slams the note down on a table and begins gathering new cups of alchemical powders. "Yes yes! Give and take. Can you give me half-ounce of smelling salts, a quarter-ounce of powdered earth, a full beaker of solid water, and a stoppered tube of extinguished fire residue? " he replies to Izuhn, instantly forgetting about the problems outside like a child who just found a new toy.

Adaia can quickly identify the ingredients Griggle mentioned and even adds some suggestions as the duergar reads the new recipe out loud.

When Griggle throws the elemental substances into the furnace and says a few mystical words, the furnace flares with violet flame and then cools to a tiny white fire. Griggle hops about joyously "Oh thank the Black Spider for this!" he shouts his friend's title to the heavens. The duergar places some coins on a table before you adding "Thank you for delivering this letter. Why don't you take those with you as well?" he points to three solid metal bars. "Those were from my previous experiments. I'm no blacksmith, but I'm sure you'll find someone who can work a piece of adamantine like that. "

Even though Adaia knows this won't send back the mephits that already crossed into Fireshear, she feel the elemental forces are now in control and the danger of more of those creatures crossing is solved.
