Hi there, Runelord! I seem to be one of the first to notice this new post. Lucky me! I'm very interested in joining your game. I grew up on Dragonlance novels enough to love them, but long enough ago that I don't remember many details. I really wanted to buy Shadow of the Dragon Queen to run for a group, but I haven't been able to do that yet and I won't for a long time. But getting the chance to play in a campaign, and play-by-post at that? It would be a dream come true!

For a character, I'd be open to anything the party needs. I like playing support characters, so a bard or cleric (not sure how cleric will be handled in this campaign) would be awesome. I'm not sure what race I'd be, but I usually prefer elves or dwarves. I do have a little idea bouncing around in my head of a female kender cleric who leans more towards considerate and sweet than annoying, but a valor bard of any race would probably also be great in this sort of campaign.

Anyway, I could go on about character concepts, but I'd love to hear your thoughts and see the ideas of anyone else who applies.

Thanks for your time!

Hey Runelord I too, like Araklusta (cool Ice Wind symbol by the way), am a fan of Dragon Lance as it being one of my first true adventure epics read.

The world has always been and influence on my rpg’ing, with Valiant Knights, bold leaders, dodgy wizards and the joy of Kender.

To that point I would very much enjoy to join you on this adventure, probably as a Ranger/Druid or Thief/Ranger character very much a follower of a God of Neutrality.

As for Race a Kender would be first choice, followed by a Qualinesti high elf.

Cheers
Mathfuric.

Very interested. Seen another interest check that got me interested in the Dragonlance area, but nothing came of it yet. Generally, fill in whatever roll the group needs, but have been wanting to try out a monk. I’ll post a monk concept tied into the campaign

Hi Runelord!

Count me in as very interested. :)

I read the books many years ago and remember this and that about the background. My character of choice would be a Knight of Solamnia of old noble blood. I think playing a squire to begin with would be fun, then becoming a full knight. Or a freshly annointed knight. I am open for many ideas.

Maybe a paladin, maybe a fighter.

I'm interested. Although I only have surface knowledge of the setting. What books do you recommend to get started?

Would play either a human or elf Fighter, who dreams of becoming a knight.

Also you said Humans are allowed, but are variant human included?

Thanks! One of my favorite games growing up. I even blog about it sometimes XD

After reading the ideas of some other people here, I'm kinda feeling a kender valor bard (maybe she's a sibling or cousin of Mathfuric's kender?) and I think she likes the idea of being a Knight of Somania, but just isn't sure yet, so she follows soises' Knight around and tries to learn from him/her. I love the idea that the Knights of Solamnia almost certainly wouldn't accept a kender into their orders, but maybe she's like Officer Judy Hopps from Zootopia and wants to try anyway.

There are some stereotypes about kender player characters just being obnoxious, but I think with this character I would lean more towards building off of kender fearlessness. You know, not afraid to stand on the front line OR challenge social norms.

Anyway, that's what I'm feeling so far if I get to play.

Good Morning, I hope you'll take into consideration my interest in playing :) I don't know a whole lot about Dragonlance, but I love delving into new settings and seeing what interesting characters can flourish there.

So far interest has leaned toward:

Cleric / Bard
Ranger/Druid/Thief
Monk
Fighter / Paladin

So I'd like to throw my hat in the arena for a Wizard. I read a bit and it seems like the wizards of Dragonlance are generally members of one of three orders. Reading on each one I like the concept of the Order of the Red Robes wizard with the Mage of High Sorcery background. Leaning more towards a Transmuter overall.

Hope to hear back soon!

This is so hilarious. I got looking into monk and realized so didn’t actually like the class so was think a gnome bard with a very similar build to this 😂😂😂😂, but you beat me to the idea so I guess back to the drawing board. You probably be a better bard anyways haha

Oh darn! I didn't mean to steal your thunder. If you'd like to go that route, I can certainly come up with something else!

. No no you do it. No thunder taken.

Monk concept. Human monk to a long standing order that has been around since the dragons left. The order idolized metallic dragons and existed to fight the chromatic dragons if they ever return. So many generations have happened that the monks of the monastery has became complacent with their solidarity. Now that the Dragon Queen has returned the monastery says it is not their fight. One young monk who was raised reading books from when there was dragons tries to convince the others to fight. When they refuse he leaves to carry the duty of his order on his back alone.

Yes, Variant humans are allowed, if you're interested in learning more about the setting/world I would suggest reading the Dragonlance Chronicles novels.

As soon as I saw Dragonlance, I had to come in and show my interest! It was the first fantasy series that I ever read and am still in love with it to this day!

And we are getting to play in the time where we might potentially meet Huma!? I'm in!

Dwarven Barbarian, will have to decide between Zealot, Totem or Ancestral when the time comes. His home decimated by Takhisis and her army has forced him and his dwarven people to scatter and flee. Ispin helped a number of his people find refuge, where they now channel all their energy and anger towards the destruction of the Dragon Queen and her minions, they just need someone who can bring the forces of good together for the war to come.

Hey HueHueBr like Runelord said you should start with the Chronicles, everything else builds of this.

Time of the Twins was brilliant as well.

Oooh, I'm a big Dragonlance fan and I hope I'm not too late to pitch my idea. It seems we have most of the bases covered of the original party so no Raistlin for me (one of my favorite characters in all of fantasy and with the role of magicians in the setting a very interesting concept to explore), but it seems the party could do with a down to earth practical warrior without knightly airs, more like Kitiara uth Matar in temperament.

@Araklusta You are right that during this period the gods are still absent and don't lend their power to clerics, but perhaps you can pull a Goldmoon and have an ancient artifact (your holy symbol) that allows you to draw on divine power regardless? Could be very interesting as a concept.

Darn as I type I have concepts popping up in my head already. A Sorcerer might be another interesting concept because they act outside the Wizards of High Sorcery and are not dependent on the moons. But they don't pop up until much later.. umm, let's stick with the warrior for concept 1.

It would be a human fighter or rogue (maybe spell-less ranger?) without innate magic from the future subclass. Part of the charm of this concept is the struggle of folk without magic against the overwhelming power of the Draconians and later the dragons and the likes of Lord Soth. It would be a woman, a veteran warrior who fought the battles that are too dirty for knights. Perhaps a Veteran Mercenary background would fit with her history being fighting for coin. I can either go for the classical armored warrior by going fighter, or maybe a more dexterous approach by going rogue and fighting dirty (to provide a nice contrast to the party's Solamnic devotees). Traps, backstabbing, putting boots on the table, all that. Unlike Kitiara she would not be evil but her pragmatic outlook doesn't allow for a goody two-shoes outlook either, so she would be neutral. If a former mercenary, perhaps Lawful Neutral, if more criminal, Chaotic Neutral.

To prevent the lone wolf trope from overwhelming the concept I would like to build some solid relationship with one or more other party members (Just like in Chronicles). So family, (ex-) romantic partners, comrades in arms, that sort of thing. That also makes the inter-party RP much more invested I think.

@khulod I like your concept haha.

Man, as a potential player I do hope everyone gets accepted, but also know we are up to like 7-8 concepts and dms game is set for 5 players currently. Best of luck to everyone!
