[Recruiting Closed] ShadowRun: Edge of Darkness

It's 2052.

Do you know where your kids are?

EoD is a ShadowRun campaign that takes things back to the beginnings, back to the basics, using a modified version of the Chronicles of Darkness ruleset. Familiarity with the system is useful but not an absolute necessity since I've folded, spindled and mutilated the CoD rules to handle the ShadowRun setting and character creation will be handled in a Session Zero with all the rules available to the players.

✅The Pitch: The year is 2052. Upheaval and change are the defacto normal in the Sixth World. It's adapt or die...but mainly die. This Chronicle will follow the most adaptable creature of the Sixth World...kids. Young adults, really. Rough and tumble from the mean streets of Seattle, this Chronicle follows the PCs from the edge of adulthood and into the Shadows.

✅Adult Content/Controversial Themes: ShadowRun isn't set in an idyllic future. Rough themes abound and Bad Things™️ happen. Expect the Expected. The use of Veils & Cards is probably warranted.
*that said, I'm not going for erotic fiction here and that can be taken to 'fade to black' situations.

✅Character Restrictions: # of Players: 4-6.
I'm aiming for the PC's to range in age from 16-19 from a rough neighborhood. Backstory and further details can be hashed out in Session Zero.

✅ Duration & Post Frequency: I'm looking on a campaign length story with a posting rate around 3/week to 1/day (except weekends). I tend to try to match my posting rate to the players and the flow of events but I do have a pretty variable work schedule.

✅Specialty Software: An OOC thread will be available in-game for chat and questions but there's also the ShadowRun channel in the GamersPlane DISCORD server if you prefer to use that. If need be, I can open a private DISCORD channel for the game.

✅How to Apply: Drop a reply here if you're interested while I finish setting up the game. It's not going to be 'First Come/First Serve' so I'll leave the thread open for a week or two. Marginalized Groups are welcome to apply.

I'm definitely interested. I was curious about your conversion ever since you originally brought it up and the pitch of the characters all being teens sounds interesting to me.
I have very limited experience with Shadowrun and WoD, so I will probably require some handholding. But yes, I'd definitely be interested in playing.

I am a huge SR novel fan and read about every SR novel there is. Haven't played the game too much, because my PnP group doesn't like dark future.

Very similar view here! :) As you may remember from other threads - I'm looking for a good rules system for Shadorun for some time I would feel more than honored try Your interpretation of CoD system for this setting. I know universe mainly from the computer games and a little from other media ( and somehow from Earthdown systems (as they are connected, aren't they? ).

I don't know too much about the CoD system besides the basics and reading Werewolf core books years ago...

My character idea:
I would like to play some "contradiction at first glance" character: so something like huge, muscular troll that is mostly interested... in books and knowledge. But in this harsh world he have to make a living somehow... so he is dealing with guns repairing them and modding them for others. Also with drones - making some "assistants" to help him with his science studying and protecting his little lab hidden from everyone - even his parents. Only interested in shooting pistols - as they "are the hardest one to hit". Also tringing some karate (or some other "hard style" - in order to "train his character and discipline". And... recently discovered some magic capabilities in him... but for now he is trying to push that thought away... as he always wanted to stay "down to earth" - with science. That probably means he will have no starting spells, but possibility to get some in the future.

I have no idea if such assumptions could be viable in mechanic's terms - and "there could be such PC" - but that is what I was thinking about my character idea in context of "teenage runners".

Thanks! It took a while but I really didn't have to fight the system to make things work and that was nice. I worked on it around 8 months or so (but not super intensively). I'm glad to finally roll it out and see how it runs. It's definitely way less 'buckets of dice ' gonzo action oriented and a bit more grounded but that's just the CoD bones and I like the way that feels in the ShadowRun settings.

I definitely would be interested in seeing how CoD would work for SR.... I have a concept for a Former Lone Star Detective who came to Seattle looking for his sister who ran away from home

I'll check on whether the have should be public or not. ShadowRun deals with some rough content... If not, I don't mind adding you as a spectator to see how it works. We're definitely going to go slow and kick the tires for a bit before getting fully up to speed.

I'm not a canon superfan, so I wouldn't expect things to go exactly as lore indicates. I read a few of the novels and kept up with the timeline but once players get involved...who knows what will unfold!

There are so many interesting elements in the Shadowrun lore and they are seldom explored.
Tech vs magic
Consumerism vs spiritual
Flesh vs implants
Astral world vs matrix vs flesh world

Not a canon guy myself and not on top of any timeline. I love the stories and especially characters in SR more then anything else in this universe.

There's a ton of interest for this game. I am definitely interested, but I'd also be content if you choose someone with more familiarity with the setting, as long as I'd at least be able to observe.
