Founded by a famous dragonslayer, the small town of Belhaim has become a sleepy rural community just off the beaten path, a settlement where everyone knows everyone and strangers are the talk of the town. But when Belhaim’s peace and quiet is shattered by the sudden collapse of the last standing tower of its founder’s castle, things quickly bloom out of control. Why were there bodies of kobolds amid the rubble? What’s the sinister secret behind the strange sounds of flapping wings in the night? And what’s happened to local wizard Balthus Hunclay, who’s not answering knocks on his door? The collapsed tower had long been an eyesore to the cantankerous old man—could he have had something to do with its destruction? And what of the rumors of strange stirrings in nearby Dragonfen? Has Belhaim’s ancient draconic nemesis returned?

Player Experience Requirements. This is my first game of Pathfinder (of any edition), so is a learning experience for me as much as anything. Experienced or novice players are welcome.

Character Restrictions. Characters will start at 1st level, using only the options in the PF 2e Core Rulebook.

Game Duration and Post Frequency. 2-3 per week. The adventure as spans to 6th or 7th level, which may as well be 'forever' in PbP terms.

Specialized Software and Resources. None, but there's an online character builder called Pathbuilder that might be useful.

How to Apply. Post your interest here, preferably along with a character concept. Enough detail to hook my interest and tell me why your character would be a great addition to the campaign, but short of a full sheet, please.

This game is explicitly friendly to LGBT and any other minorities or marginalized groups.

I am down! Likely will play a fighter or rogue. I like that they make Strength-based rogues viable...

EDIT: After a bit more thought, I think I'd like to make an urchin / orphan that has always been treated well by the town, despite his trouble-maker nature... Thinking I am going Thug-racket Rogue, always trying to hide that he cares about the town...

Your pitch sounds quite interresting. Not played pathfinder yet, but I would like to.

I would be looking for a magic user, perhaps with some ties with the vanished wizard?

I'm interested in joining. Not too experienced with PF2E, was just in a beginners box game for it (PbP) that seems to have abruptly ended, but I'd like to continue further and explore the ruleset some more.

As for characters, was thinking either a ranger or sorcerer (curious how they translate in the new edition), perhaps a close friend of Balthus who's concerned about his disappearance and goes to investigate.

I have played a few PF2 games and I'm really liking the system

There I am at a disadvantage as my main source of Pathfinder rules is the online https://2e.aonprd.com/. Everything is there and I can't really find a filter function. Is the Thaumaturge class from the core books?

If you hover over the class in aonprd, it shows you which book the class is from!

Doh! Thanks testlum :)

I would make a cleric for this game. Where in the world are we, in regard to common deities? Further concept development depends on this

Appreciate the world of Golarion but only have 1e experience. This could be an opportunity to check out 2e, I've heard good things about it. Putting this here as a placeholder, I'll finally check out the 2e rulebook and come back with a definitive answer.

I'm still new to Pathfinder, but would like to join if there's room

I'd like to try playing a monk. Maybe limits it out to see the world but ended up stopped in this town for whatever reason.
Or if the group needs a more tanky character, I'll play a champion that was saved by someone in town ( or the town in general) and swore to protect it

I have interest in this too!

I'd like to play Felquik the Goblin Dragon Instinct Barbarian.

A bit of backstory, happy to shape as needed to fit into the game: Felquik was born marked for greatness, according to his tribes legends. The mark he bears (across his face) calls him out as the receiver of an ancient power, and his tribe calls one marked such as he the Da'lke, the Final Frost. Legend has it that one is born only in a time of need, when fate determines the tribe will need them most. Felquik grew up hearing these tales and being trained by his tribe members in how to tap into the powers of the Da'lke. The people of Belhaim knew of Felquik, and his rage, and on many occasion had felt his icy gaze and the subsequent ripple of chills that traversed their spine. None more so than those who would step out of line after Felquik joined the city guard. It was a requirement, part of a deal made with Felquik's tribe eon's ago allowing them to stay within the town, that each mature male member of the tribe join the guard for 2 years of service. This was right up Felquik's alley and he took guarding the townspeople as a great responsibility and performed his duties gladly. Now that his service has ended Felquik is looking for a new path, his path, a calling to fulfill his destiny.

Alright, did a quick read of the core rulebook and I'm sold.

Mainly looking to play a Goblin, pretty stereotypical in terms of eating habits and pyromania. Probably gonna be the comic relief, though I'll try to not overdo it.

Ideally, I'd like to make him an Alchemist. Curious to try the class' mechanics, digging the concept of throwing bombs and brewing mutagens, plus carving up enemy corpses for trophies and ingredients, Witcher style (bonus points for "is he gonna eat that or is he grabbing it for a potion?"). As a hook, he could be visiting Belhaim to meet Balthus Hunclay.

Alternatively, if the group has the whole ranged DPS/buff/lore base covered, I can make him a more tanky/damage focused Ranger to handle nature stuff and preserve the harvesting bit, a Rogue if we need stealth/traps/locks or a Sorcerer to fill in as magic user.

What I bring to the table
- Good familiarity with 1e Pathfinder rules, basic knowledge of Golarion.
- 20+ years of tabletop RPG experience, mostly as a GM.
- Willingness to support anyone in the group (GM included) with the game, setting, rules etc.
- A legal background, meaning I'm comfortable with rules and big chunks of text, but not a rules lawyer.
- A wildly varying work and life schedule. Could be bored in front of a screen for the entire day and willing to make multiple posts, could also disappear without warning for several days. If the latter happens, especially when frequent posts are necessary to keep the game from bogging down (i.e. combat) I am comfortable with the GM stepping in and taking over to maintain momentum.
- Snacks. Oh wait, this is PbP, nevermind.

I'm thinking of a Cleric of Cayden Cailean. Always ready to go on a dare, be the light of the party. But while she might talk a good game, when it comes to relationships she is absolutely clueless.
When it comes to ale, bravery, freedom, and wine, she is all in. Cider is her drink of choice, a (in her mind) perfect amalgamation of beer and wine.
Why is she there? Something is shaking in Belhaim and she wants to know what the fun is all about

I think this could be a fun character to play and would be a driving force to move the adventure forward.
Come on goblin boy, last one on that hill, buys first round tonight

Cayden is my go-to deity in Golarion, to be sure! Sounds like a fun character to run beside!

"Who are you calling Boy, princess" Felquik said with a wicked smile as he took a stance ready to bolt up the hill

Good to see the interest! Here are some notes that I should have included in the first post but, ah, forgot:
* Belhaim is in northern Taldor, in the sparsely populated and quite wild Verduran forest.
* Popular or significant local religions include Abadar, Shelyn, the Green Faith and Irori, though Cayden Cailean or any other faith would work as well.
* Most characters should be strangers to town, though one or two could be local or have roots there.
* Characters might be visiting kin or doing business in Belhaim, but a major reason to visit the small town is that the wizard Balthus Hunclay recently announced he would be auctioning off a number of enchanted items, arcane equipment and paraphernalia, books of spells and rare lore. Perhaps your character was drawn to this auction hoping to get a good deal on a magical treasure to start their careers, or were sent to secure a particular piece by their guild, temple, family, liege, etc.

One particular note: Madclergy, would you be interested in playing a kobold instead of a goblin? Too many goblins might spoil the pot, as the old saying goes, but a kobold might work particularly well in this adventure. (They're from the Advanced Player's Guide, which is breaking my core only rule, but I'm the GM, I'm allowed to make an exception!)

Morning Dirigible,

Never played Pathfinder before, but heard from a few friends that it is an excellent system, and if there is a place free I would like to put my hat in the ring.

May need a little help to get started.

The auction would be a good motivation for Valariel the elven wizard character I had in mind. He could have been pen pals with Balthus who told him about the auction. He then went to Belhaim in hope to secure an item or two for himself before the auction officially began.

My cleric is coming for the auction. Besides she knows the apprentice who will be lost when the tower collapse. That cement her drive to figure out that happened

On that note, if Madclergy wants to stick with Goblin, I'm happy to go Kobold for my PC.
