Round 2 Player Phase!!
OOC:
You now know the armanite has advantage on saving throws against magic! However, it doesn't seem to have resistance to non-magical weapons, which is nice.

Also, it's almost dead. Get it!

Aiwë hurries to the sirens. "Are you alright?" she cries, words slipping into elvish.
Aug 20, 2023 12:02 am
Ida motions to those in the hall "all those in need of medical attention we can set up a triage and I can help the most badly injured first." She sees Aiwë run off in the direction of the siren pond and followed to set up a small treatment centre. She imagined even if many of the patrons werenot physically harmed that shock might still take its toll on the less hardy races.

With the town of his second home on his lips, Dieter swings high and slices off one of the demon's horns, then brings his blade around and drives it home into the creature's chest. It grabs at him with wretched claws, but then turns to smoke before any harm is done. Expelled from its home in the sword, and with its corporeal body destroyed, the fiend is forced to return to its home in the Abyss. But even after the smoke dissipates, it leaves a foul stench in the air.

The sirenes respond to Aiwë's Elvish words. Even in conversation, their words are full of music and emotion; sorrow and fear receding like a wave back into the sea. "We are fine, brave one. We live, and continue to serve."

One of the sirenes opens a satchel at her waist and retrieves a large, round pearl. "But for thinking of us, please accept this gift."
OOC:
The pearl is worth 100 gold.
Aug 20, 2023 12:21 am
Aiwë cradles the pearl. "Thank you! I will treasure it."

"Please, while your wounds are seen to, will you teach me one of your songs?"
Aug 20, 2023 12:22 am
Dieter without a moment to loose rushes into the fountain to pull out the high priest yet to resurface. If necessary dieter lays him on his side and roughly pats his back to encourage the water out.
Aug 20, 2023 12:38 am
The sirene nods with a small smile. "I can do as you ask."

She sings in Elvish...

Aquamarine:
Born of water, the sea.
Leave, my beloved,
From the garden, be free.

As a wave to the shore,
I set out to see.
A breath of fresh air,
Wondrous to me.

Of Men I knew little;
I did not flee.
Now I'm a servant:

Kelddath, mayor of Beregost and high priest of the Song of the Morning Temple, splutters and coughs. When he finds his voice he slaps Dieter's hands away. "You bring a possessed weapon into Lathander's House with no warning? I'm beginning to think you set that fire in the smithy yourselves!"

He coughs again and wipes water from his face. "No, the fault is mine. 'Do not attribute to malice what can be attributed to ignorance'. I should have recognized your ineptitude the moment you stepped in these hallowed doors." He points at the damage that's been done to the tile floor. "It will take days to restore this place to its proper sanctity. This place is meant to be a symbol of hope, not a stepping stool for the Lower Planes!"

He goes on in this way, berating the party, for as long as they'll let him.

Aiwë completely ignores the mayor—they brought the sword to be assessed and serviced by a cleric and if he skipped some safety checks that was on him—and focuses on the song. As it progresses, Aiwë clutches her heart and frowns at the lyrics.

"Thats beautiful. But... are you trapped here? Why do you serve?"

"…What? I don’t even believe in demons, how would I know. I thought the high priest would recognize a "possessed" weapon a mile away. Besides I brought it to you because it was evil" Dieter looks at the priest like he’s an idiot..because he is "I’m sorry Mr mayor that was rash of me, you’re right as always" Dieter gives his most genuine (-ly false) apology as he’s had enough of stupid people.

What is up with this town.

Dieter grabs the sword and sheaths it.

well….I guess that leaves it to payment. What do you think Aiwë? 600 is the usual rate for extra-planar beings but this is a family friend we need to cut him a deal." Dieter says pleading on the priests behalf.

Aiwë looks over her shoulder. "Yeah, that was unfortunate that the sword wasn't inspected properly before the spell was cast. Good news is we were already here! Let's just call our work even for the spell on the sword."

"Thank you, thank you Aiwë." Dieter says turning to the soaked priest.
Aug 20, 2023 2:09 am
I step forward to talk to the high priest.
"I apologize for our lack of protocol and for bringing such a foul creature to your sanctified halls.
It won't happen again. I promise you that.
We knew the weapon was cursed, but I should have known better than to trust such a devious enemy as Mulehay and the others we face to settle for a simple cursed weapon.
We sincerely appreciate everything you and your temple have done for us."

The sirene's eyes are alien - fey - in a way that Aiwë has never seen before. But they also hold a beauty and depth much like the ocean itself; not meant to be known, understood, or taken for granted.

"We owe Kelddath Ormlyr a debt. When it is paid, then we will-" One of her sisters touches her arm and they exchange a glance. "Forgive me, I must return to my duties. Be well, Aiwë."

Stella and Sheemish enter the temple after visiting Taerom to check up on him and the status of the smithy.
OOC:
Also probably gave him gold and the ingots we found, but the party still needs to have a retroactive discussion about that
Stella puts a hand to her mouth, looking over the debris. "W-what happened?! she stammers. "More assassins?"" She felt she shouldn't be all that surprised at this point. No, no assassins. Otherwise there would have been bodies...

She sees Aiwë interacting with the sirens. Not illusions, she mentally notes, distracted for a moment. She supposed that made sense. Few deities seemed to deal with illusions.

Kelddath's jaw actually drops at Dieter's presumption, but he begins to listen to reason as Aiwë and Runeson speak. "Perhaps I spoke too harshly. I have cleansed your sword, and together we have rid the world of an evil. As a gesture of Lathander's generosity, I will waive today's fee." He glances at Stella and Sheemish, to be certain they hear the story told his way.

He looks to Ida. "I see your bag is packed. I trust that you will advise your cousin on future endeavors, for the good of all."
Aug 20, 2023 2:46 am
Aiwë stands and turns to Kelddath. "Your singers are incredible. How long have they been patrons here?"
