Interest check: Beam Saber

Hello!

Would folks be interested in a game of Beam Saber?

It’s
Touchstones from other media would be Titanfall, the Murderbot diaries, and the Forever War. More grounded than Gundam or Star Wars and more swashbuckling than gritty.

Full disclosure: I’m new to PbP (but not to TTRPGs), so there would be a certain amount of figuring-out-the-systems as I go.

I know nothing about Forged in the Dark but I love mecha so I'm interested. I'll do some research on the touchstones that you gave.

Though Titanfall did show why infantry armed with Antitank weaponry are the reason why Mechs are highly impractical. Perhaps we can add a Gundam trope of Minovsky Physics. I.E. beyond visual range and guided weapons simply fail.

Infantry with anti-armour weapons would definitely be something you’d have to worry about. Mechs would be more-capable-tanks that get deployed under air cover rather than avatars of conflict (mostly because I’m much more familiar with military sci-do than mech fiction per-se 😅).

How big a group are you looking for?

Sign me up as a Jade Falcon Elemental then because I greatly enjoy the fiction of climbing into a mech and shooting the pilot in their face. I did that often in Titanfall.

Then again I troned in the mantis on Halo IV multiplayer.
