OOC:
Yuna, make a Luck check to see if Harold is coming back before you have finished.
Yuan only has a few moments to flip through the book. It is a second edition printed in Boston in 1801. There is a personalized bookplate belonging to Memphis the Great. Riffling through the pages you can see there are handwritten notes in the margins as well as some sections that are crossed out or written over, as if someone had another edition they were comparing it too and making corrections.

Yuna nods, trying to pull her eyes away from the text.

Seeing that the trunk was locked, Barrington shrugged and said to the group:

"Alright, I don't feel good about breaking into Harolds stuff... er... yeah..."

He paused awkwardly...

He resumed:

"Yeah. I know I was all keen to see inside the trunk a moment ago, but I just don't feel right forcing my way into something Harold has locked away."

He moved out of the room, turning after he'd gone through the doorway, and said to the others:

"It seems like we've got a lot of common interest here, though, about what strangeness has been taking place here tonight. I'm heading over the road from the theatre to Nan’s Kitchen - I could really murder a plate of their chicken and waffles. Anyone of yous wants to join me there to compare notes, you're very welcome to join me."

He looked around to see if anyone wanted to join him, saw at least Idella catch his eye, and turned, heading out to the diner with anyone who wanted to join him.

Charles planned to intercept Harold if it seems like it’s necessary. Perhaps a chance for our reporter to sneak out?

OOC:
Yep! If she passed her luck check I was going to have her get out in time, but now Harold is coming while she's still rummaging in his trunk! Roll me Fast Talk and describe how you are keeping him occupied and distracted until she gets out of there.

Yuna slips the book into her bag and moves to close the trunk.

Charles makes it look like he was leaning against the hallway by Harold’s dressing room. When he sees the man approach, the old man throws himself from a pretend rest, and approaches, speaking as loudly as he can. He meets the man a bit down the hallway, so as to put some distance between themselves and the journalist.

"Ah, yes! Mr Hawkins! A moment of your time. Now, now! I won’t keep you. I know you must be tired after the events of the evening.

I meant only to ask you about your supplier for the act. The craftsmanship on your set is exquisite. I seek to spend a little money myself on some similar pieces and would greatly appreciate a contact for the carpenter you used! It’s so hard to find quality worksmanship at a good price!
OOC:
Dogshit. Do we push rolls in this game?

Waiting for the action inside the theatre to resolve before starting a scene in the diner - as it feels like what happens in the theatre may impact who turns up, and how, at the diner

Great! Still a fail. And the result will be much worse for having pushed.

I’ll spend 9 luck to pass (and Crit on 55?)

Though I’m not sure you can luck a pushed roll!

You are correct, you can't!
Too late Charles notices mentioning the props was a mistake. Harold's eyes go wide in surprise, then narrow in suspicion. "I create all of my own props. Hey, Joe! I believe the theater is now closed and would you please escort these people off the premises. I wish to visit Edith in the hospital but I find myself being detained by their constant questioning."

A moment later Joe the security guard enters the backstage hallway with Debbie and Doris at his heels. "I'm afraid he's right, folks. I must lock up the theater now and I must ask you to leave."

Harold brushes past Charles and reaches for the doorknob just as Yuna is exiting the room. He stumbles back in surprise. "You! What are you doing in here?"

Charles dodders uselessly, playing up the act of some fool old man. When Yuna is discovered, he stammers some, thinking to try another ruse. He stops up, still playing the part of the exasperated, confused old man, and leaves the journalist to use her wit to explain her presence herself.

"Waiting for you to return, as you indicated you would, but as you said - you grow tired of our questions. Quite alright. I'm sure we'll have more opportunity to talk later. I'm sure you'll want input before I publish. I'm sure you wouldn't want my only experience with your act to be this unfortunate evening." She snorts derisively and pushes past the man.

Harold Hawkings
"Yes, I'm sure we'll be in touch," he says to Yuna's retreating back.

Joe escorts all of you outside and locks the doors to the theater.
