Character Creation and Discussion

Oppression of marginalised groups (abelism, racism, gender/sexuality-based, and more) are lines for me in TTRPGing. I see and experience enough of these things in real life, and have learned that having them in TTRPGs I'm part of means I can't enjoy them. Not judging people who are fine having them in their games, hope that's clear.

When I run games, I use the Happy Jacks "Lines and Veils" Google Sheet to collect this kind of thing anonymously - maybe something similar could be done here on GP? The anonymous aspect is good because saying the kind of things I just said here can make one a target of some very unpleasant people (I guess it may be possible to track who ticked which boxes in the sheet - but at least an initial casual anonymity is there).

That's why I asked. I'm perfectly happy to leave it out.

Fair enough. Get it being a line for some, while others I know like to put it in so they can then directly combat it so wasn't sure for this group.

Re the triangle maybe but def seeing Lex as gay or a flavour of queer. If no-one is feeling like being love out the gate could be Leo but more platonically.

(Also for the part of the sheet that is 'how to you react withove and rival currenttly going for defender)

Also aware think Leo has quiet a few connections and already have one to you so may be good to get more in the mix :p

When back from work (ages away) I'll see if I can make a master sheet of everyone's questions and the answers so we can see what needs doing etc.


Will try and look through people and make suggestions for Lex. Been busy resetting everything g up in house as things have been happeningast week. Though a few that would work have been nabbed already whoops :p. (Was gling to propose that both Mirage and Lex opened up to each other, as simially Lex has also been in wrong side of track but alas :p)

One suggestion for love is Aria. A wide eyed cheerful person Lex may want to look after her/protect her from what Lex sees as the reality of something. Which does also introduce an awkward love triangle.

I love it.
I can see Michelle always being raised to be among the goodguys and Leo might have a bit of a bad influence on her, something that her dad had not foreseen.

Going through the relationship options

Nightfly is an invertebrate-controlling, substance-mimicking infiltrator-type with totally separate mundane/hero identities that no one apart from zir is aware of. Ze is an undergrad English student in the university with a best-friend and also does baby-sitting.

I'm looking for someone with whom they and ze know each other in zir mundane life/role (babysitter, best friend (?), university, or some other context) - but where they have no idea that ze is also a member of their hero team. Any volunteers for that? Reading through the other characters, so far none jumped out at me as a good fit.

Maybe a club or hobby we share?

Maybe Jerry did tutoring for you while you were in high school?

Maybe friends while we were at high-school? Maybe even a best friend (that would be complicated...!)

Or something else?

So in my head Lex is dyslexic, struggles with reading/writing and us a high school dropout. Possibly Nightfly has learned and is keeping it in the downlow, while offering to help.

Or even as Jerry and Lex isn't aware ze is also Nightfly, so she's protective of xir's mundane form.

I think I have this in my first post at the top of the thread and I’ve been trying to fill it in once these get definitively determined. That way we don’t have to poke through to find the post. It’s in a spoiler bar. So let me know if I missed some decisions/updates that need to be made.

Oh this is a good one. Might steal. I usually use one my ttrpgs society made, but I like the colour changes to make it very clear.

I like that - maybe Lex goes secretly to school in the evenings, to try and get his high-school diploma, Jerry in zir mundane identity helps out there as a volunteer, they got to know each other, Lex trusts zir and opened up about the dyslexia, zir helps him out with his learning?

Would that then mean Lex's relationships " _______________ is your love. You’ve opened up to them about the worst parts of your past." would be with Jerry? Works for me.

Oh, and "Divine Canibalism" in the Lines and Veils sheet is a left-over from a specific game which involved gods eating gods heh... Will take that line out!

I don't know whether Jerry is aware or not that they are Lex's love. Lots of possible drama in this one! Yay for drama and feels!

@Dreamweaver, I don't know if you saw this suggestion. Maybe I just missed your response in all the activity in here:
If you're still looking for someone to fill this relationship, "You have a crush on ____ but you keep it under wraps", I could also potentially see that being Alloy. Aria might not care as much about human appearance as some of the others. And I don't think Alloy would be able to figure it out, considering her low self-esteem in regards to her appearance. She would not assume anyone could be crushing on her in her condition.

Let me know your thoughts on both or either.

Yep thats right.

Possibly not, though they may realise she acts differently/more relaxed around xir than when they are as a team. She definitely won't have said anything. I should say the love and rival sees like could change at a drop of the hat with the playbook, but I likely won't be doing that unless it makes sense :P.
