I received a free copy of Coyote and Crow on Indigenous Peoples' Day, and I'm quite intrigued by the setting. However, I'm not sure about my overall impression of the system. With that in mind, I wanted to see if there might be anyone interested in playing the introductory adventure provided in the book, titled "ENCOUNTER AT STATION 54."

A Brief Description of the Adventure:
This adventure will take the Characters, newly inducted Suyata (a protective group akin to marshals), from Cahokia to the edge of the Permanent Ice Zone. The Characters are dispatched by the Council of Twelve to investigate why communication from a weather station has stopped.

A Brief Description of the Setting:
The setting of Coyote & Crow is a futuristic science fiction world, with elements reminiscent of cyberpunk, albeit without the extra grit. In this world, Europe never colonized the Americas, allowing Indigenous cultures to flourish into technologically advanced civilizations.

If you're interested
If you're interested in the adventure, message me or leave a comment. I'd appreciate it if you could share your familiarity with the system and setting, your preferred posting frequency, and when you'd like to start.

A Note about the Setting
This book was authored by individuals with Indigenous heritage, who encourage individuals with Indigenous heritage to include Indigenous names, ideas, and cultural elements of their own heritage in the game. I wholeheartedly support and welcome this approach. However, I want to clarify that I'm not of Indigenous descent, so any elements I introduce into the story will reflect my own knowledge and interests centered around the science fiction aspects of the setting and nothing from a real-world culture.

I am interested in this. I also picked up the rules on Indigenous People's Day. I've been curious about the game for a while. I haven't read over the rules yet, but I'm definitely interested in trying them out.

Coyote and Crow is a system/setting I've wanted to bring to GP for a while but don't currently have the time to really devote to it. I backed it on day 2 of their Kickstarter and was pleasantly surprised by the game when I got it. I'm glad to see it come to GP at long last!

The setting is great! It takes some serious on-boarding to get but is really deep. The system is surprisingly crunchy but not overwhelmingly so. There shouldn't be anything that the GP roller can't handle; a couple of rules additions to the roller should help streamline things.

Are you planning on running through Station 54 with the pregen characters? Are you planning on making the game public to follow along?

To be clear, I'm wishing you luck on running Station 54 and not expressing interest. I've read through the adventure multiple times and I'm currently 'at capacity' for GP games/projects. I'd definitely consult the C&C Discord for errata/tips for running Station 54 or other questions.

I've been interested in this for a while. I got the PDF on Indigenous People's Day as well but haven't looked at it yet. I'd probably need some help with character creation (Unless there are pregens we can use like WD implied). And with everything else. But I'm definitely interested!

I'll leave that to the discretion of each player. I know that some people learn a system best by creating a character and some learn best by playing with a character. That said, I'm more than willing to assist with character creation, and I would provide the pregens in a reference thread for people to review.

I'm open to it, but I'm not sure at the moment. I'd run it past the group first. I haven't GMd this system before, and running this adventure would serve as a learning experience for me for this specific system. If it goes well, I will definitely be willing to make future games public.

There hasn't been much interest. @bowlofspinach and @timplausible are you still interested in doing the adventure with just a group of two?

What is the system like, I saw that it's 2d6 based, but that's about all I know.

Is it a PbtA?

It’s a dice pool system where you only roll d12s. The default check number is 8, so anything 8 or above is considered a success. 1s take away from your total successes.

Huh, ok. I guess the starter set rules ended up different than the full book?

A game I am playing in seems to have stalled, so I'm tentatively looking for something else. But not sure if a new system would be right for me.

Thank you for your time and willingness to run a game.

I'm for sure still interested if you are

I could be up for a 2-player game. Still need to finish reading through the rulebook.

With 2 people, it will be easy to learn as we go.

Oh, oh, oh, pick me!

I've got the book in hardcover, and even backed the fiction anthologies. I haven't played it yet or read it, but I'm a quick study.

Yes. The Quick Start rules were intended to introduce the setting with simpler mechanics using 2d6 instead of d12s. The reasoning was that almost everyone has access to d6s and they wanted to get the IP out there for people to play around with and make it easier to pull in folks new to TTRPGs in general.
