You and your companions yearn to become true mouse adventurers, even though your journey into the world of daring escapades has yet to truly commence. Undeterred by your lack of experience, you've made the resolute decision to cast aside your previous lives and embark on this uncharted path. For a grand beginning to your adventurous aspirations, you've chosen none other than the enigmatic and eerie Shivers Island.

After setting sail across the vast sea, you arrive at the quaint coastal town of Port Black. From there, you journey northward, venturing into the island's realms where trouble often abounds.

Gideon
Not far into your expedition, distant cries for help reach your ears, the pleas growing louder and more urgent with each step. "Help, help!" a deep voice calls out. Intrigued and concerned, you follow the source of the commotion and come upon a peculiar scene.

Dangling from a tree branch, suspended by his belt, is a rather portly mouse, his head drooping towards the ground. Beneath him, a menacing rat clad in ragged attire stands, taunting the larger mouse with a string of insults. With malevolent glee, the rat hurls stones at his victim, eliciting a distinct "Ouch" from the beleaguered mouse with each painful impact. Oddly, it seems that whenever the rat strikes his adversary, a cascade of small pips falls from the larger mouse's pockets, as if he were an oversized arcade machine dispensing prizes.

Your adventure begins here on the road before this mouse in trouble. Whether you decide to help or just watch please settle out which is the situation, with introductory posts in this thread.

You can decide how you two three met or we can gloss over that. If you're not sure on how the rules go, don't hesitate to ask or just state what you would like to do, and we'll work it out.

Bay is a brave little mouse - always had a sense of adventure, loved loved LOVED being a Sparrow Rider, soaring above her home settlement, keeping an eye out for incoming threats, on occasion raining mousy wrath down from above on the rare occasions they were attacked. Probably the hardest part for Bay about leaving with Sky to head out for adventures in the wide world, was leaving behind Brown Muffin, her sparrow steed - they had been working together for many years, love each other, and Bay misses her dearly.

But the call to see more, to experience more, was too strong for her. So, finally, she resolved, it was time to head out and learn more of what the world has to offer. She hopes she will experience marvels, feel and see and learn new things! But she is also ready to look out for herself, her companions...! And hopefully also do some good for others along the way.

I love this first scene already :)
Bay hefts her trident and runs over towards the sounds of the cries. She's a good-hearted generous mouse, and would want to help out someone in distress if she could!

Seeing the scene before them, Bay shouts out:

"Hey! Rat! What are you doing there?! Stop throwing those stones this instant!"

With that, Bay moves towards the rat, her fur standing up straight, a look of fury in her eyes at what seems to be a scene of bullying and malice.
Oct 28, 2023 7:10 pm
"Dear me...! What on earth is going on here?" Sky calls out incredulously as her nose twitches and her whiskers immediately start to vibrate. Her luminous eyes dart around the scene quickly to see if there is anything dangerous about. More dangerous than the stone throwing rodent before them.

Her ears twitch as well, however this has more to do with the distinctive sound of the falling pips than with the pleading creature. Sky glances at Bay as she orders the attacker to stop and admires her friend's determination, before taking a place next to her. One hand rests on the hilt of her sword - more for show than with actual intent. She is certain Hazel is by their side as always and likes their current odds ... and the possible compensation of their heroic actions.

"Explain yourself, vagrant!"

Despite the overcast skies and the looming threat of impending rain, Sky's vigilant scan of the surroundings reveals no further signs of immediate danger. However, the island's eerie ambiance is unmistakable, casting an unsettling atmosphere over the entire scene.

As the rat pivots around to lay eyes upon the three of you, his gaze is accompanied by a sinister grin, revealing a set of crooked and decaying teeth. "Well, well, well," he hisses, "what do we have here? Three minuscule, insignificant pests that ought to be squashed." Bending down, he snatches up a sizable tree branch and advances menacingly in your direction, clear intent etched across his features. With the crude stick in hand, he seems resolute on clobbering all of you.
OOC:
The rat failed his DEX save, so you all can act first. Attacks automatically hit, so if you decide to attack, roll for damage. Otherwise, you can take any action you want. Mausritter is a roll under system, so if you decide to do something that could fail, I'll ask you to roll the appropriate save for the related stat. You want to meet or be under your stat score.

It seems her grandstanding has done little to dissuade the rat from entering violent conflict. Sky ignores the blood rushing in her ears and draws her sword. She would not let that stick come down on her friends.

Although the motion is less fluid than she hoped it would be, Sky's sword is out and she moves forward to meet the brute. Sharp end in front, that's the important part. She focuses on the offending stick as well, its length and thickness and tries to calculate its reach and weight. Each blow that is about to come has a certain chance of hitting her and she likes to be prepared - ideally to get out of the way before being clobbered.

Hazel looks at the rat with her deep, black button eyes and twitches her delicate whiskers. The lightly clad woman stands proud and upright, holding her bow and arrow in skillful paws. She hasn't pulled the string yet, but she will do so quickly if the situation requires it.

The hazelnut brown mouse tilts her head slightly and replies admonishingly: "Now there are four of us and you are alone - rat. Wouldn't you like to think about it again, before you do something... rash?"

Confident that she and her two daring friends could scare the rat away, Hazel tries words one last time before taking action.

Bay is furious - letting all her anger out here, blazing it all directly at this rat. But she still sees what Hazel is trying here, and yeah, Bay would be much happier if we could get through this without coming to more blows.

Bay, though, doesn't feel any uncertainty about how to push forward here - this rat isn't for persuading, it's for scaring out of its skin...

"Rat! You've tasted some of what we three have got coming for you! Three hardened mouse warriors against a mangy ner-do-well rat? I know who comes out best here...!"

Bay moves closer to the rat, huge-for-her double-handed trident pushed out towards it.

"We're giving you until the count of three to scram - or you'll be tasting even more of our mousy steel!

Sky's blade pierces straight through the rat's defenses, eliciting an immediate and agonized howl. The rat's demeanor undergoes a rapid transformation as he drops his makeshift weapon. His once-confident expression gives way to a stark realization as he takes in the sight of the three of you standing united. Listening to Bay and Hazel’s warnings, a creeping unease begins to wash over him.

Slowly, he starts to back away, his voice carrying a tinge of fear as he stammers, "Yeah, well, you're not worth my time anyways." In a sudden and frantic turn, he pivots on his heels and breaks into a hasty sprint, quickly vanishing into the distance.

Had the mice not been so steadfast and Sky's damage not so high, a WIL save for intimidate would have been more than appropriate.

Gideon
The mouse suspended by his belt claps his tiny hands together with exuberance, letting out a hearty cheer. "Jolly good show!" he exclaims in a boisterous tone. "I shudder to think what might've become of me had you not arrived. It's quite evident that you are exceptional adventurers." He gazes at your group with hopeful eyes.

"Perhaps you could assist me in getting down from this rather umm interesting position so we can talk better," he suggests, taking a brief pause before continuing with a knowing glint in his eyes. "This would certainly be a venture worth your while, for I possess knowledge of a mystery that demands the skills and valor of adventurers like yourselves to unravel."
OOC:
There isn't a clear obvious way of getting this odd mouse down from the tree. In fact, it's not quite clear how he got up there in the first place.
Oct 30, 2023 9:45 am
Pointing her pointy nose, pointedly up to Gideon, Hazel asks: "How did you get up there in the first place... stranger?" Talking to three women without giving his own name first. How rude of this keg-bellied rat-victim!

Nonetheless, looking for something that could aid this ... wealthy mouse to get out of his predicament, the brown furred archer tries to see if there is a rickety wagon, a barrel, or even a ladder to help him.

She would do so anyway, a fellow mouse in need and so on, but knowledge of a mystery seems too redolent of adventure and fame to be passed lightly.
Oct 30, 2023 10:22 am
Bay's eyes light up at this talk of skills and valour and adventure...! That's exactly what this band of friends was looking for when they left Muusdorf!

And for sure she wants to help out this, hm, indisposed stranger they've encountered.

Various ideas go through her head about how they might be able to help him down...

- Strike through and break his belt with Bay's long trident, and cushion his fall as he, er, descends from the branch?
- Throwing something up to weigh down the end of the branch, hopefully bringing Mr Hanging Mouse closer to the ground?
- Climbing up the tree themselves, and somehow helping him down? But that sounds very difficult.
- Building an acrobatic tower of three mice to reach up and help him down?

None of them sounds easy!

Bay's favourite would be to climb the tree and with the use of some rope or something like that, work out a way to lower Mr Hanging Mouse down to the ground - hm, although, do they have any rope with them here?
OOC:
Taking the name of the place we grew up from Wiktionary's suggestion for proto-Germanic word for mouse i.e. muus or something like that. But very happy for it to have another name - or for us to not even to have come from a 'village', just from, I dunno, a mouse colony in a patch of briar on the edge of a forest of something like that?

Gideon
The mouse, suspended from the tree begins "Where to begin? Well I..." he suddenly appears to be in considerable discomfort and halts mid-sentence, his face contorted with pain, and then, quite unexpectedly, releases a substantial belch. "Excuse me," he mumbles sheepishly, before recollecting his thoughts. "Where was I? Ah, yes, I thought I saw the looming shadow of a monstrous cat, black as the darkest night, with fangs and claws that would send shivers down the bravest mouse's spine."

He continues his tale, voice quivering with residual fear, "Instinct took over, and I scrambled up this tree in a frantic hurry, as if my life depended on it. Unfortunately, it's not the sturdiest of trees, I must say. One of its branches gave way, and I plummeted. Thankfully, my trusty belt came to the rescue, saving me from a nasty fall. But, as luck would have it, a rather unpleasant rat soon happened upon me."

The mouse gives a genuine, relieved smile, his eyes now filled with gratitude as he addresses your group. "And then, my heroes, you came to my aid." After a brief pause, he remembers to introduce himself. "Oh, by the way, I should properly introduce myself. The name's Gideon."

Regrettably, the immediate vicinity offers scarce resources to assist in the safe retrieval of the mouse hanging from the tree. Hazel's keen eyesight scans the area but primarily reveals fallen pips from Gideon's pockets and the branches of the tree itself.
OOC:
There are no immediate obvious solutions for this problem that don't require some kind of roll (but that doesn't mean you won't think of one). Any of Beardhare's ideas would work. DEX saves would be used for climbing or placing a shot from Hazel's bow. STR saves would be used for cutting the belt with the trident or balancing a fellow mouse on one's shoulders. Alternatively, a mouse could make a WIL save to use their wits to scavenge the extended area for helpful items, but you never know what they could run into.

The most prevalent failure outcome for these scenarios is the potential for someone sustaining an injury from falling, or Gideon falling on and harming a fellow mouse in the process.

and please don't limit your options based on anything I've mentioned. I'm simply giving you info so you can make an informed decision.

With a sideways glance and a shrug Sky gets closer to the tree to climb it. Unfortunately the bark turns out to be rotting away and she cannot get a good foothold. "Sorry, I'll try again. And Gideon, if you fall ... we'd almost certainly catch you in any case."

Sky takes a run-up towards the trunk and manages to get quite a bit higher this time. She even manages to grab onto a bit of the branch the fat mouse is hanging on before she slips...

Laying her bow to the side, Hazel opens the clasp that holds her traveling cloak and folds it quiet nicely. Then the brown mouse crack her tiny mouse knuckles with intention in her eyes and steps under the tree. "I will catch you." she proclaims.

All of this would seem rather comical to an onlooker, as Hazel is the smallest of the three Muusdorf adventurers.
Oct 31, 2023 7:55 pm
"Thank you!" Sky exclaims, thinking Hazel means her rather than the strange fellow. She is hanging onto the branch with her hands, while she is trying to get a good position for her feet. The blue-coated mouse shimmies towards Gideon with her fingers and gets close, but without the help of her feet she is not strong enough to secure her own position.

It turns out that the bark is not the only thing half-rotten. A sudden cracking noise makes Sky's heart jump. She looks to the source and sees that the branch cannot carry their combined weight for much longer. With a desperate determination Sky builds up some momentum and swings herself towards the equally worried mouse hanging upside down in front of her. She manages to grab onto his jacket, the piece of clothing immediately slides down, the buttons tear of, then the weak wood breaks and both, Sky and Gideon, plummet downwards.

Because of the momentum, Hazel cannot anticipate their trajectory fast enough. Sky falls to the ground not far from her friend's outstretched hands. The ground is soft enough though and for a split second Sky feels relieved - that is until - BAM! - the fat mouse lands directly on top of her. The mouse is so stunned that it takes her a moment to throw Gideon off and curse under her whiskers. When she tries to get up, Sky feels a sharp pain where the heavier mouse has landed. ""Told you we'd catch you" she says in a strained voice as her hands rub over the ribs that are very likely cracked. She breathes with some difficulty.

Gideon
Gideon rises to his feet, dusting himself off. He appears a bit flustered initially but quickly composes himself and acknowledges your help. "Well, they say there's more than one way to solve a problem, and I shudder to think how long I might've dangled up there without your assistance. As a token of my gratitude, please accept this letter," he says, handing you a sealed envelope. "Show it to Mr. Filmon at Squeakydoor Manor."

Gideon goes on to explain the reason for the letter, his tone filled with intrigue. "During my stay at the manor, I came across something truly extraordinary – a fragment of a medallion, one-sixth of its entirety. I carefully placed my fragment in the writing desk of my room, room 3. However, now that I've been called away for pressing matters, I thought it best to entrust this task to you. It seems possible that other guests at the manor may have stumbled upon the remaining pieces, perhaps mistaking them for mementos of their stay."

His eyes sparkle with curiosity as he leans in closer, sharing his growing suspicions. "I hold a strong belief that this medallion is intertwined with a profound mystery deeply rooted within the manor, perhaps even connected to its enigmatic owner, Mr. Filmon. If you choose to look into this mystery, it will be your duty to unveil the secrets concealed within this ancient artifact and the manor itself.

Gideon's voice lowers, and he imparts a critical piece of advice. "Moreover, I've gathered that Mr. Filmon is intricately tied to this enigma. It would be imprudent to directly question him regarding the medallion or its mysteries. Exercise caution in your interactions and safeguard the information you possess until the truth is revealed."

He continues, "As for my room at the manor, it's already paid for and at your disposal. Room 3, it was. Inside the writing desk's drawer, you'll discover one-sixth of a mysterious medallion."

You all have the opportunity to ask any questions you would like of Gideon. When you are ready to move on, simply state that you’re heading to the manor.

Bay rushes up to the pile of wounded mice made up of Hazel, Sky, and Gideon - helps them up, looks with them at their injuries, an anxious look on her face. Those were some nasty falls and some nasty landings.

But Bay doesn't have anything on her to help them heal up or recover - she can only offer her concern and sympathy. She thinks to herself:

"I guess things like this are a part of adventuring that I haven't thought about before. I'd only really thought about the exciting fun parts..."

Once they're all standing up again, and Gideon has told them about Mr Filmon, Bay says to Gideon:

"Glad you're OK, Gideon. Sorry that you had such a mishap! That does sound intriguing - I've got a few questions I'd like to ask, though, before I feel ready to go to the Manor as you suggest"

Bay then asks Gideon:

- what are the "more pressing matters" that have called him away - you like to understand the kind of thing he finds more important than this exciting mystery
- it sounds like Gideon already has some ideas about what mystery, what enigma, may be within the manor - what does he think is going on?
- why do we need to bring Filmon the letter? And what is in it?

Gideon grins warmly, his gaze shifting towards Bay. "Ah, you are astute adventurers, always eager to gather every detail before venturing into the depths of intrigue," he commends.

BeardHare says:

"I'm a member of The Arcane Order of the Curious Mouse, a group dedicated to the investigation of mysterious objects and events. A dear friend and colleague of mine has sent a distress signal, seeking aid in the frosty environs of Tundraburg. The message carried an urgent tone, and I must hasten to their aid without delay."

BeardHare says:
it sounds like Gideon already has some ideas about what mystery, what enigma, may be within the manor - what does he think is going on?
He delves into Mr. Filmon's role in the manor's enigma, his voice laced with suspicion. "In connection to the mystery at the manor, I strongly suspect that Mr. Filmon himself is the source of the medallion fragments that have found their way into the hands of the guests. He exhibits peculiar behaviors at times, often vanishing for extended periods into the courtyard of the manor."

BeardHare says:
why do we need to bring Filmon the letter? And what is in it?
Gideon offers the letter, encouraging you to peruse its contents. "And as for the letter, please feel free to unseal and read it if you wish. It's a straightforward declaration, simply stating that I, Gideon, or those I designate, are entitled to stay in room 3 at the manor."

Shocked that the fat Gideon buried her friend under his mass, Hazel is quick to roll the mouser off her friend. Lending a helping hand to Sky, the brown mouse dusts her off a bit, but stops immediately as she notices the wincing in pain.

Giving Gideon a dark look, the archer starts to listen to his story and raises an eyebrow sceptically. Manor, six peaces, medallion. Sounds strange enough. Listenening to Bay's variaity of questions, Hazel is more than a little thankfull for her companions quick wit. All of them good inquiries.

"What kind of establishment is the Squeakydoor Manor?" asks the moon-signed mouse interested. They would see in a short time of course. But maybe there could be something gained by appearing there in a certain way.

@DM> I may have forgotten, but how do we "stand" on different races? Can all animals talk to each other? Does Hazel automatically assume (and rightly so) that Mr. Filmon is a mouse as well? Or could he be a bird, raccoon, hedgehog, ...?

Gideon thinks for a moment and then answers Hazel's question. "Squeakydoor Manor is an imposing two-story building, exuding an air of stately grandeur. It was once the property of a prosperous noble family renowned for their fleet of ships, which played a vital role in Port Black. However, the family's fortunes took a dark turn when their only son mysteriously disappeared. Grief-stricken and burdened by this tragedy, they eventually vacated the region, leaving behind their ancestral estate.

In the present day, the manor has found new ownership in the form of Mr. Filmon. Under his stewardship, it has been transformed into a hotel, breathing fresh life into the old structure."

I try to offer a perspective centered on the world through the eyes of mice. You can generally assume that when referring to characters, they are mice, unless there is explicit mention of another species.

In terms of how they relate to other creatures, I try to stick with real world relationships. i.e. Cats are viewed as bad. Racoons and hedgehogs neutral. Sparrows good. Hawks bad. etc...

"This hotel doesn't by any chance have a healer, does it?" Sky grimaces as she touches her ribs with her right hand. She looks down to see if there are any more pips on the ground. Then asks: "Are you a rich ... investigator then, if I may ask? Who has paid for the room or in other words - whom do we owe?"

Sky brings some order to her dishevelled clothes, then quickly combs her face with her fingertips. She is almost ready to make for the manor.

Gideon explains, "You would have to ask Mr. Filmon about a healer, but I’m sure that after a good rest you will feel as good as new.

The Arcane Order of the Curious Mouse generously takes care of my expenses and has graciously covered the cost of the room. As a member of this esteemed order, I place my trust in you to investigate the enigma during my absence. You might consider the complimentary stay at the manor as a token of appreciation for your assistance. Should this endeavor prove successful, I may have future mysteries in which your services would be invaluable."

Consulting his timepiece, Gideon offers a courteous apology, saying, "I'm truly sorry, but I must take my leave." With a nod and a friendly smile, he sets out on his journey toward Port Black, his figure gradually receding in the distance.

Gideon in a hurry left behind 33 pips on the ground.

The group is left wondering on the effectiveness of Gideon as a member of The Arcane Order. There are valid concerns, considering his recent predicament of being ensnared in a tree, his pips scattered on the ground, and his hasty recruitment of a band of adventurers without posing a single question to assess their capabilities. Furthermore, they note that Gideon omitted any clear instructions on how to report back to him with the results of the mystery.

This Gideon character still rubs Hazel the wrong way and all his blundering doesn't change that a bit. Make it even worse. Nonetheless the story he told them sounds to exciting, to not to take a closer look. The prospect of a few nights in a fancy manor? Well, there are worse things in a wandering mouses' life. Ain't it?

Hurrying to pick up some of the coins, so that Sky won't get all of them — experience have tought Hazel that a coin left to Sky means a lost coin in a cardgame — the brown mouse stashes some of them in her pocket for later use. Maybe the room is already paid, but are the beverages as well?

"Strange fellow. Makes my tail curl." she confesses with a shudder to her friends as she finishes up. "Let's do exactly as he told us." Hazel continues with a dry grin and the wink of her left eye.

As you approach the manor's imposing entrance, a scene of grandeur unfolds before your eyes. The ancient structure stands resolute, fashioned from meticulously cut stone, and its walls are covered in ivy. Keen observers among the group notice some windows on the upper part of the building just above the main entrance are mysteriously concealed by paper, effectively obscuring any view of the interior from the outside world.

The two-story structure surrounds an inner courtyard and opens its welcoming doors to reveal a fancy interior. The floors are polished wood, adorned with thick wall hangings that lend an air of luxury. Silver fixtures suspend oil lamps that cast a soft, warm glow throughout every room.

As you stand in the lobby, your group is approached by an elderly mouse, bespectacled and clad in old-fashioned attire. He regards you with a measure of curiosity and speaks in a raspy voice. "Welcome! What brings you to these halls?"

Someone hands him the letter. He reads it and promptly responds with a nod.

"Meals are served promptly at 8, noon, and 6. You're at liberty to explore the open rooms on the first floor, and the estate offers splendid views of the surrounding landscape. A quick note:

The adventure is very open as to how you want to proceed. Your two main goals are to retrieve all of the medallion fragments mentioned by Gideon as well as determine what is the so-called mystery he kept referring to.

You can explore individually or as a group. If you are ever at a point where you would like some direction as possible next steps, do not hesitate to ask. And as always ask as many questions about the situation or to NPCs as you would like.

Taking note of the paper blocking the view above, Hazel follows her two friends into the manor. At first the adventurous mouse is a bit tense, but all the soft lighting and wooden floors seem to calm her down. Especially her whiskers.

Hazel hadn't seen anything so beautiful in a long time and with eyes opened wide, she takes in the room with admiration. But they weren't just here to have a good time. There is a secret to be revealed. And that's why the mouse-brown archer whistles innocently, "Could you be so kind and show us to our room - Mr. Filmon?"

On her way up, she asks in a friendly manner: ""Please tell us something about the history of the house - it looks sooo impressive. Have you lived here for a long time?"

Mr. Filmon readily agrees, his tone courteous as he utters, "Yes, of course. Right this way, please." He gestures for you to follow him as he leads you up the ornate staircase to the designated room, Room 3.

As you ascend the creaking wooden steps, he shares, "This manor has quite the history," echoing sentiments similar to those expressed by Gideon earlier. However, as he approaches the part about the missing son, his voice takes an abrupt and awkward turn. He blurts out loudly, "The son was never seen again!" The sudden outburst hangs in the air, creating an unsettling moment. Mr. Filmon comes to a stop right in front of Room 3, his features marked by an eerie smile.

Mr. Filmon waits by the door in case you have more questions. He will leave when the group goes inside the room.

Upon entering Room 3, you're struck by its pristine condition, a stark contrast to the aging exterior of the manor. It has a writing desk, a window, and 3 comfortably looking beds and chairs.

Mr. Filmon
Mr. Filmon beams with pride as he recounts, "I've dedicated my entire life to the hotel industry. One day, I made the decision to strike out on my own. I stumbled upon this Manor, which had changed hands through numerous owners. Strangely, each previous owner had swiftly sold it shortly after acquiring it, the reasons unknown to me. I suspect it might be due to its weathered, ancient appearance. Nevertheless, I recognized its hidden charm and took the challenge of transforming it into a flourishing hotel, a decision I'm proud to have made."

Sky uses the time it takes Hazel to make her inquiries to swiftly check the contents of the writing desk. Is the sixth of the medallion still there? If so, Sky puts it in one of her pockets to await further scrutiny as soon as the mouses are amongst themselves.

Meanwhile Bay looks out the window and looks for anything interesting within the truly beautiful view.

Both finish the task. While Bay tests the level of comfort her matress will provide, Sky steps outside to join Hazel and the hotel owner.
"What a modern room. I am sure it will serve us well. To be honest, however, I am much more interested in the older parts of this magnificent structure. Especially the fine courtyard we were able to glimpse on our way up. The architecture, at least to the adoring but untrained eye, looks quite marvellous and I shall spend some time there I think. Anything in particular I should pay attention to, Mr Filmore? Is the ivy as stately in the courtyard as it is out front? Oh and the library should prove worthy of our time as well. I guess many of your guests are equally impressed - is the hotel fully occupied at the moment, sir?"
OOC:
Do we know which rooms are open?
We have the hotelroom for 4 days - does this mean we have to think about finishing the mystery by that time and how is time measured?
Are the rooms on the Ground floor open at all times?

Thx :)

You hit on a lot of different elements! I've split up the response in blocks to try to help make it easier to read.

The fragment is small enough that it will not take up any inventory slots.

I keep track of time in terms shifts: Morning, Day, Evening, and Night. I’ll let you know when a set of actions takes up a shift’s worth of time and we’re moving to a different shift.

If the group splits up, which can be helpful to make the best use of time, I may need to "pause" on letting a character continue their actions until the other characters have "caught up."

The 4 days can be seen as a time limit of sorts, but that will most likely give you plenty of time.

It is currently nearing the end of the day shift. It will soon be the evening shift and dinner will be served.

Bay waits for Mr Filmon to leave the room, closes the door after he leaves, and then turns excitedly towards Sky and Hazel.

"I saw you snaffle the medallion fragment, Sky! Nice work there! Would be great if you could show it to us!"

Whiskers twitching in enthusiasm, Bay looks expectantly up at Sky.

"Maybe there are some clues within the shape of the medallion, about what might be going on here? What do you think? Is it ornamented? Does the ornament remind us of anything?"

When all three characters have the chance to look at the fragment, they don't see any clues held within its shape or design. All they can tell is that it will most likely make a circle shape when all the pieces are put together.

Puzzling over the medallion fragment, Bay looks up and squeaks:

"It looks like Gideon really did send us on a proper adventure, on a proper mystery here - I definitely want to know more about the medallion, and the story behind it!".

She pauses for a moment, getting ready to deliver her mom joke.

"Or is it a moustery, rather than a mystery?"

(for the next few seconds she can't stop giggling at her own bad "joke"...)

"Anyway! How about we each go off and explore the manor on our own, and then we meet back here in our room before we go to dinner today? When we meet back up, we could compare notes, see what each of us has found out?".

If the others agree, Bay plans to head out to the library - to see if she can find any more information about the medallion in the books there - and perhaps to encounter one of the guests and see what she can find out from them.

"All of this is very mousterios." replies Hazel while she lowers her voice. "Have you noticed the strange scene on the stairs? What was that?" the adventurer asks as she refers to Mr. Filomon's exclamation.

When Bay suggests visiting the library herself, the brown archer gives her friend Sky a sideways glance. The snowwhite mouse would certainly be interested in books too. But perhaps there was enough material there to keep two mice busy. Besides, two noses smelled more than just one.

Hazel, on the other hand, has not forgotten Mr. Filmon's advice against the courtyard and plans to visit it. Aiming to be there as unseen as possible so that she is not immediately scared away.

On the way down she stops briefly on the steps and shouts: "And the prodigal son appeared again and brought life with him!" Hazel then pauses for a moment with her whiskers twitching and her ears swiveling to see if that triggered a reaction.

Maybe she would take a look into the kitchen later. There could be a cook who could give her further insights into this house and its history and residents.
