Sounds good. I would recommend some amount of negative relationship with the lich King based on the fact that you overcame death and he is the king of death or at least thinks he is

My unique will revolve around my character being a literal wood elf. Birthed from the Mother Tree at the heart of the Wild Wood. I'm thinking of going with a positive relationship with the high druid and a conflicted relationship with someone else but I'm not sure who yet. Either the Elf Queen, the Emperor, or the Archmage.

Sounds cool. Druid isn't an available class because I am using the core rulebook only, but sounds like a cleric or ranger would be thematic

I went with 3 positive with the priestess because we should all know the story of Shamhat and Enkidu. Shamhat brings Enkidu the wild man back to civilization.

It is the oldest story told and written that we yet know.

Ranger is where I'm going I think. With the cleric talent.

Thanks for adding me. Had a busy yesterday so will start thinking of character torday. My first thoughts are an elven rogue of some kind.

Sounds like we're rolling without a human then!

I think the barbarian is human, actually

Ah, wasn't sure with his background.

Question regarding initiative since this is play by post. Which of these would you prefer?

Players roll their own initiative
Vote to view results.
DM rolls all initiative to speed the process up
Vote to view results.

Also, regarding order?

Traditional initiative, where we go in a specific order based on results (so if it is PC1, PC2, Enemy1, and PC3, initiative is in that exact order)
Vote to view results.
Group initiative, where if a group of enemies or players all go after each other then the order doesn't matter (so in the above example PC1 or PC2 could go first, but Enemy2 would not go until both PC1 and PC2 finish)
Vote to view results.
Side initiative, where either all enemies or all players go and initiative progresses when all participants finish (so all PCs would go in any order and then all enemies would go in any order or vise versa)
Vote to view results.

Demigod yes, but still merely human.

Also Hrafe doesnt believe he is anything but a bastard. But he does know he is a psychopomp.

Based on above, I will handle initiative as such:

When it comes time to roll initiative, I will look at all of your characters, mark their initiative bonus, and roll for monsters and PCs all at once. I will then say what the initiative is. if there is a point where multiple PCs go in a row, the PCs go in the order of who posts first or in the order they say they want to go in (for example, if PC1 and PC2 can go in any order, but PC1 says they want to go after PC2, that's what would happen. Otherwise, they would go in order that they post).

We are almost done with the characters. We will start no sooner than Monday November 6th, a I will be busy most of Sunday. I will use the icon relationships you all chose to determine who the icon related to the first quest will be. The adventure in the book suggests changing the adventure location based on one of three icons, but gives guidance if a different icon makes more sense. I'll also use the icons to determine which villain is at play as well.

That sounds good to me.

Ready willing and able!

One thing to note: the icon relationship dice are meant to be rolled every session of play, however as we are doing this in play by post, there are not sessions of play. As such, I am thinking for now that I will have you all roll your icon relationship dice once per full heal up, and potentially between them if it would make sense (like looking for a lead to find some villain and rolling your dice to see if anyone has a contact reach out to help)
Nov 5, 2023 3:37 am
That sounds fine with me. Alternatively we could also roll them every "chapter" when we wrap up one arc of the story, if once per full heal up is too often.

I'm good with all those options. I also think I'm finished with character creation, I'm running a human paladin who is serving the forces of light to avoid being sent back to the Afterlife, because she is doggedly determined to reunite with the twins whose birth killed her in the first place.

How does party-creation work? Do we all meet in the proverbial tavern, or are we going to come up with a reason we're all traveling together?
Nov 5, 2023 4:26 am
Players are more motivated when they have agency so I suggest you all discuss what you work together.

So far, I am thinking with all of the conflicted relationships in the party, that I will have the first mission be at the request of the archmage. The other default options without homebrew are elf queen and high druid, which rarely if ever was chosen for relationships
