Bay sees the final two fragments passing over to her friends - and feels even more overwhelmed than she had a few moments ago.
What in the world is going on here? Is this bizarre medallion-fragment-collection quest a ruse, something to trick them? Some nefarious play or plot by the guests and owner of this manor? That has landed the set of fragments now so quickly in their hands?
And what of the recent awful events that have been going on here? How does this all tie together?
Bay just doesn't know what to do here. How to act. What is the right way forward? What are the dangers?
She hears Hazel talking about looking at the fragments all together - but not making them touch. And then having dinner. And this sounds like a good plan to Bay. Maybe food can calm her nerves a bit. Although eating surrounded by the strange, unsettling mice who are maybe plotting against them. Maybe not very calming after all. Still. She needs to eat.
Maybe looking at the fragments all together will be of some use. Although, if not, then Bay wants to push them together, to make them actually touch - she feels like a big part of what's upsetting her so much at the moment is the uncertainty of this all. So she feels an urge to just push on and through all this - to bring things to a head.
"Yes, Hazel, that sounds like a good idea. Let's go up to our room to look at the fragments - somewhere we have a bit of privacy."
