On thinking it over, I am going to go with the 4d6 drop the lowest, so if you haven't, please adjust your ability scores. It just makes more sense to me, as you are supposed to be children, after all.

@WhtKnt: Done, and updated the character sheet. Gern is still a Gnome kid, with Gunslinger as her class

It seems that you have already decided what this adventure is about. That is the GM's job

I'm interested in playing kids in waterdeep. A convoluted heist story is not what I had in mind when I joined this game.

No I haven't. Like I said not going into specifics because my characters ambition is just that a raison d'etre. Chill out.

@Amberthegirlgeekgamer87 & @MinMin: Gern is keen to chat with Selena and Tom when/if they pass thru her bosses shop. Sharing information on what the Artificier can craft, but she will also be keen to spend time with them when she is off-duty, hanging out around the streets and visiting Waterdeep's more popular locations for candy drinks! :-)

@WhtKnt: I am struggling a bit to understand how Traits get chosen? I believe I get 2, so do I just chose any 2? The PF rules, and the Goog, are a bit vague on it. Or @runekyndig do you have some guidance you can share?

@Drakis2

The rules state you may take any trait though traits generally have to do with how your character progresses through the story. Characters can have 2, up to 3 if they take a drawback.

"Think of character traits as "story seeds" for your background; after you pick your two traits, you’ll have a point of inspiration from which to build your character’s personality and history. Alternatively, if you’ve already got a background in your head or written down for your character, you can view picking his traits as a way to quantify that background, just as picking race and class and ability scores quantifies his other strengths and weaknesses."

From the Archives of Nethys.

Hope that helps.

@Jomsviking: Thank you, that makes a bit more sense. I'll probably leave it as I do not think it will add much to the character's development. The backstory is pretty much built already.

@Drakis2

At a glance the Quick Learner and Gnomish Alchemist traits are tailor made for your background

@Jomsviking: Cheers! I'll give them a read and see what I think.

Ok cool. Yeah I didn't know we had to drop the lowest. I can change it.

And I don't know how to rp playing a kid so I'll try my best as I usually play 18-my age since I am 36 irl. And am used to playing level 3 and on in dnd 5e (which is the only system I know how to play) so this is my 1st time playing pathfinder.

Updated my stats. Forgot to drop the lowest number so fixed it. Can't wait until we officially start and can start posting as our characters.

Not a problem, Amber. We'll nursemaid you through it. I think that you're really going to enjoy it. I'm out of town next week, which is why the delay, but we'll get started shortly thereafter.

That's fine. I take weekends off anyway as they are my self care days so I only post Monday through Thursday and take holidays off too so I look forward to when we officially start.

I am dedicating time to rolling stats and everything tomorrow. Been hectic week here. But I am leaning towards the idea of a half-orc druid or hunter; something animal based.

Rolling stats and doing a little more reading on the races/classes. I have never done Pathfinder, only 5e. This is also my first time ever using Gamers Plane so the forum style pbp is very new territory to me. Forgive me if I'm a little dumb at first when it comes to how this all works. Doing my best!

Rolls

Stat 01 - (4d6)

(3511) = 10

Stat 02 - (4d6)

(5565) = 21

Stat 03 - (4d6)

(6346) = 19

Stat 04 - (4d6)

(1613) = 11

Stat 05 - (4d6)

(5331) = 12

Stat 06 - (4d6)

(4246) = 16

It is not a problem. Take as much time as you need and we'll help you where necessary.

@Redamancy: Don't forget that we are using 4D6 to roll stats, dropping the lowest number. So your first Stat roll of 3, 5, 1, 1 you'd likely drop the 1 and have a total = 9, etc. Dropping the lowest die roll in each Stat roll

Got it, thank you for clarifying! Building with those rolls after dropping the lowest number per stat.

I'm a little confused on the skills and want to make sure I'm understanding: unlike in 5e where everyone has the same 18 skills, we choose ones specific to our character. We choose a number equal to a value listed in the class listing.

So, I need to choose 7 Skills for my druid:

A. Because Druids have a Skill Ranks Per Level of 4 + INT modifier (+3, in my case).
And,
B. Going forward, every time I level, I can add 6 points spread through selected skills and/or add another skill.

Am I understanding correctly?

Yes, the choice and number of skill is correct. @WhtKnt also listed some additional skills we can choose from, that are relevant to our 12 year characters. I took one of those as it seemed to fit the character well.

Great, thank you.

Might I ask what is the difference between traits and feats?
Never mind, I just read that traits are essentially half a feat. The rest of my question still stands.

The list we have in the beginning of the thread are entitled feats. I am familiar with traits from 5e, but traits are totally new to me. I saw in the first post that we are using "any racial traits to modify" based on our race. Does that have a numerical limit? Limit on feats?

EDIT for additional query:

Will I be using a Druid Archetype? If so, do I select that now? I ask because depending on the Archetype, I may want to change how I have my skill stats distributed.
