Once you start exploring underground, I strongly recommend that you map the dungeon. You will get far more out of Stonehell if you properly understand its layout, and you’ll only achieve that by mapping.
As further incentives, I will award XP for mapping on a per-room basis and I’ll allow you to move through already mapped areas of the dungeon more quickly, thereby reducing the number of possible instances of wandering monsters.
I’ll leave it up to you as to how you organise yourselves to map - whether it’s using old-school graph paper or some sort of online/collaborative tool.
This is a great video on old-school mapping. No need to watch all of it, unless you’re particularly interested in the software (Miro) that this particular group uses, but the first fifteen minutes is a great overview of how player mapping can enhance an old-school game.
