Coda Ostinato

In the small town of Calif, on the border of Khouchoy Waste and Rotmoor Mire, lived a halfling by the name of Coda. Coda had a poor upbringing, often times being told he wouldn't amount to anything because of it. There was one, however, a half-elf who said he could be whatever he wanted as long as he put time and effort into it. Becoming friends, eventually falling in love, the half-elf learned of Coda's love for music, gifting him a beautifully crafted flute-dagger. It quickly became his most treasured possession, even more so over time. Coda spent countless days and nights practicing eventually performing personal shows for his love, who persuaded him to perform at the tavern. He put on a grand show, becoming the towns favorite performer, keeping the towns spirits up while the dragons tore through the world.

Eventually Alikil caught word of a town that wouldn't cower but instead laughed and danced. Unbeknownst to Coda, Alikil sent men to spy on the town, eventually learning of the tavern performer who was keeping the spirits up and learned of the two things he loved most, his music and a half-elf. The spies held a party, passing out handfuls of invitations, asking to spread the word. The party started out as normal, people dancing and laughing, when Coda arrived a voice from the crowd called out "Coda play us a tune!" and the crowd cheered in agreement. Not one to disappoint people, Coda stepped on stage and started to play. While he was playing, half-way through, three masked men emerged from the crowd, killing Codas love in front of him and calling out "Alikil sends his thoughts." before vanishing in a puff of smoke.

After honoring his buried love, Coda disappeared becoming nothing more than a legend. Passing through Calif, Azore Gomruobach learned the legend of Coda and set out to find him. Not far from Codas' lost love grave, Azore found a hut hidden away finding Coda inside. Knowing of his natural ability of music and the grudge he holds against Alikil and the Caer Tan in general, he trained Coda in the ways of the bard and recruited him to the Pale when Azore felt he was ready.

Kalis Varimas

Background
Kalis was born to a poor family in Caer Tan, but quickly showed himself to be very intelligent and inquisitive. When he was old enough, he taught himself how to read with a small amount of help from a local librarian. As he reached his teen years he spent most of his time in as many libraries as he could get access to.

On his 18th birthday, he noticed an odd rash on his skin and went to his mentor, Varis Del'danthil, an elven scholar to see if he had any idea what it might be. They did much research and over time the rash developed into a gold coloring and spread across his body, turning into a thin layer of what looked like dragon scales. In addition to the scales came knowledge of the language of dragons and strange powers manifesting themselves at his will. Knowing of the prosecution of the metallic dragons, Varis introduced Kalis to a contact of his among the Pale Deva when he was 22. He hoped that the Pale Deva could assist Kalis in growing into his talents and protect him.

Due to his odd condition, some see him as a potential agent of Bahamut who has been sent to deliver them from the evil dragons' rulership. Others see him a too dangerous to keep around and think that he might draw too much attention from the wrong people.

Maenor Holimion, Cleric of Angharradh

Background
Born in Earntun, the City of Lamps, Maenor was always an inquisitive child. His parents encouraged him to follow his passion for learning, especially when sending him to university meant a respite from his endless questions. After reading every book in his university’s library, Maenor began wandering the world in search of more learning. He visited almost every library in the land at some point, though there are certainly many private libraries that were beyond his reach, due to not being connected to the ruling elite.

When he was 120 he finally settled on a dissertation topic. He was fascinated by the metallic dragons and how they differed from the chromatic ones. He began writing a series of tomes that was to be his life’s work, but needless to say his research brought him negative attention from the Thurlahvu. However, the more he learned the more he became determined to protect the dragons he had grown to love. He joined a cell in Eglar, after he was nearly caught by the Thurlahvu while in search of a very rare tome. While not by nature a warrior, he trained so that he could disrupt the rule Caer Tan in whatever way he could.

The elven goddess Angharradh, please with his diligence and vow to protect the metallic dragons from extermination, gifted him with some of her magic…magic to protect, and magic to reveal. Maenor has to hide his allegiance to Angharradh in public, but wears her pendant under his clothes but over his heart wherever he goes.

Personality
Personality: There's nothing I like more than a good mystery
Ideal: Knowledge
Bond: My life's work is a series of tomes related to metallic dragons
Flaw: I overlook obvious solutions in favor of complicated ones

Appearance
Maenor wears simple brown robes that are often dusty from searching through old libraries. His black hair is short and unkempt, and he has a habit of running his hand back through the spikes. When adventuring, he wears his leather armor integrated into his robes, so that it's not terrible obvious but is still quite effective. He has a mace hanging at his belt and a shield strapped over his backpack.

Geno Rausch (Tiefling Warlock)

3 Important Events

- The Last Straw — It was not the courtiers who muttered "traitor’s son" nor the intimations of his inadequacy as the second child of a family of "fake nobles." No, it was when he saw a young man beaten by a dragonborn guard for "harassing a noble" that Geno realized he could
- Grandmother’s Favor — Geno didn’t know if he’d even be able to speak to the ancient progenitor of his family, the one known as "Grandmother", much less convince it to grant him power. He could have sworn it saw through his ruse, the plan he spouted to win back tiefling power from the hands of the dragons, but it merely nodded, and power flowed through him.
- Fleeing Home — Geno fled from his house in the dead of night, clutching the token of Grandmother’s favor. He looked back on his former life and swore that if he were to return, it would be to tear structures like this one down.

3 Essential Places

- Fendrastol Manor — Like all prominent families, Geno had many homes, but the most important of them was in Geirsteskali. There he saw the opulence of those favored by the Empire and the savagery heaped upon those who it despised.
- Mekome Manor — Geno’s closest friend and confidant, Arris, lives with his family at another of the grand Geirsteskali manses. Many happy memories reside in those storied and majestic halls (not that Geno remembers them that way).
- Dakdar Markets — Only very rarely did Geno manage to sneak out of his home to be among those less stuffy and conceited than his standard "highborn" company. When he did, he laid low in one of Geirsteskali’s more traveled markets, where he could watch "normal" folk during their day-to-day.

3 Allies

- Arris Drogrin — The son of a prosperous drow merchant family which the Rausches allied soon after their appointment to their stations. Arris and Geno, however, were no mere allies, but fast friends who found that the yoke of Caer Tan gripped far too tightly for their liking.
- Carys Pollard — Geno’s tutor taught him history, rudimentary alchemy, diction, and many other matters benefiting his station. She also taught him of mostly-forgotten traditions from before the Caer Tan and the finer points of civil disobedience. She was his favorite teacher.
- Gregor the Gardener — For most of Geno’s life, Gregor was merely the friendly gardener that tended to his parents’ estate. When it counted, however, Gregor was the man who helped smuggle him out of the manor and wished him luck on his search for justice.

3 Rivals

- Rana Rausch — Geno’s elder sister always sided with their parents on matters of principle and allegiance, but she would: she was the heir and stood most to gain from their parents’ subservience.
- Evart von Krestir — Dueling is considered a proper art to be taught to noble children, especially ones who are not heirs to fortune or title. Evart made for an intense and challenging teacher, but Geno always guessed that the hard-edged elf appreciated him in a taciturn kind of way.
- Abigail Delphondre — Abigail and Geno sparred often, both on the dueling grounds and in court ballrooms. Their constant one-upmanship was seen as healthy by their parents, who knew they’d need such ambition and ferocity for a life in sub-draconic politics.

3 Enemies

- Grandmother — Dealing with a devil is never a good idea; even Geno knew that. Defying one? Geno knows he’ll have to pay the price for his power… sooner or later.
- Harcourt and Illia Rausch — Everyone struggles with their parents, but not everyone’s parents are retired military, noteworthy only for defecting to the Caer Tan at just the proper moment. Such treachery may gain you provisional nobility with the Empire, but it will gain you no love from your most rebellious child.
- Prelate Adrosk — Something about the capricious, contemptuous, and condescending dragonborn always made Geno grind his teeth. Even considering how much Geno despised his family, he still found their treatment at the hands of their "keeper" loathsome.

I took a lot of liberties, so please feel free to correct and amend to better fit the world. :)

Here I am! Sorry, my computer has been out of commission for a little while, but we should be in business now.

Brother Gustav

Gustav is a large, late middle-aged man, both tall and broad. Though he is quite fat, the does not impede his prodigious speed and strength. He wears only simple brown robes belted with rope and has his hair cut in a tonsure, as is his order's traditional display of humility.

Gustav has a rather unmonklike love of food and strong drink. He has a strong, occasionally bull-headed sense of right and wrong. Far from humorless, he often has a smile under his broken nose.

Brother Gustav is a member of a long-standing hermetic holy order known as the Order of Harmony. Members of the Order believe that all gods are myriad reflections of the single divine force, and that one can attain harmony with the divine through prayer and righteous action.Their heretical beliefs made them prime targets for Inquisitorial purges and natural recruits for the Pale Deva.

Gustav has been part of the Order practically from birth,as he was an orphaned foundling. He has never known any life but the struggle. This made it even more painful when the Thurlahvu, led by Chief Inquisitor Anton Castaigne, discovered and eliminated his cell - and the entire Order. Gustav had been captured and tortured for information, but even though he did not break, the Order's secret abbey had been purged.

Having lost two families, one as an infant and one in middle age, Gustav continues to stand against the Empire.

While Gustav understands the occasional necessity of killing in the duties of a freedom fighter, he himself refuses to kill for any reason. This does not, of course, preclude the use of violence, and Brother Gustav is as skilled with his fists as any 10 Thurlahvu paladins with their swords.

Personality: I've dealt with too much death over the years, and cannot bear to cause more. I hate dwelling on the past, and prefer direct action to planning and brooding in secret.
Ideal: Everyone, even the foulest of fiends, is capable of redemption if they seek it out.
Bond: The Thurlahvu took everything from me; I owe Rhiann and the Pale Deva more than I can ever repay.
Flaw: I enjoy base pleasures such as food, wine, and fighting, perhaps a little bit more than a monk should.

Daniel Locke

Daniel has spent the majority of his life always moving around, living on the streets and never staying in one town for more than a couple of years. In his early days he supported himself through some… less than legal means, though he always managed to get off scot free even when others had to suffer the consequences of whatever trouble they were involved in, often as a result of events outside his control. After a lengthy period of close calls and good fortune, he came to the conclusion that his uncanny luck must be a gift from Tymora herself, and began a more active worship of her, out of the sight of Tiamat's followers, of course, while granting others the subtle aid he had seen in the past.

He joined the Pale Deva after coming to the realization that while he may have a knack for escaping danger unscathed, the same is not necessarily true for anyone else, and that his skills are put to much better use fighting against them than continuing with his more subtle methods.
