Team Rose Character Generation

You may discuss your character plans here. It may prove less distracting to discuss amongst yourselves rather than filter out the other team's choices.

I will honor any rolls made in the global Player Character thread.

I'm thinking I'm going to be a monk, definitely human. Still considering rolls vs. stat array.

Hello Team Rose, CancerMan, my character should be more or less done, if you see any errors, please tell me. I believe I did the custom background correctly, it is mostly based off of the entertainer one with a few things changed.

Not sure if I was able to post it but thank you for the dagger flute, I removed the throw property from it as a balance.

On the world map, is Heham a desert city? If not, is there any desert cities that are near-ish to Eglar? Is there a desert city that a dragon rules over?

CancerMan says:
We'll go as far as we can take it. I'll have two groups running in the same setting, but it's very unlikely the two will interact. The current rosters are:

Rhiann's Rose
Naatkinson
marithyme
Diamond_Rhombus
CosmicKeyring
DJForeclosure
Leviathan75

Rhiann's Chalice
Jabes.plays.RPG
navyericj
Kuroi
HypCo
Cmbrian
Jinn24
CancerMan, did you change this roster, or are the subforums not limited to the roster members? I think perhaps there is already confusion. :)

It was changed, I was switched with Leviathan75 as he knew Cmbrian.

Cool...welcome to the team!

I'm working on an elven knowledge cleric
Aug 28, 2016 3:14 pm
I'm thinking I'll go with the Bladelock since I've always wanted to mess with that build. I have my stats already and they should be MORE than sufficient. :)

Thank you, I actually like roses better so it works out and I got to help two friends be in a game together. As the bard, thank you again for being the cleric it gives me more freedom of spell using.
Never heard of a bladelock before. If I had to guess warlock fighter esque?
If it helps any Diamond_Rhombus, there was another bard in chalice in the event he said no of double bard action, I was going to make a human variant monk. Taking the grappler feat and tavern brawler as my two feats.
CancerMan, I may be at my grandmas today, so my posts will depend on phone bars, meaning posts from me will fall to a trickle most likely.

Seems like we got melee covered. I'll be a sorcerer then :)

Wild Magic is fun :)

Yes, thanks for reminding me. I've updated the original post to reflect current team memberships.

Awesome. The team is shaping up: Tiefling Warlock (Pact of the Blade, hence bladelock), Wild Magic Sorcerer, Elven Cleric, Human Monk, and Halfling Bard. We've got all the main bases covered, CosmicKeyring...which gives you a lot of freedom!

Ok, so my backstory is more or less done, if anything I got carried away and made it too long. Is there a limit or anything?

I'm not familiar with most classes but wouldn't a(nother) tank be helpful. Clerics, warlocks, bards, and sorcerers are quite squishy.

Clerics definitely aren't squishy (depending on armor and spells chosen), monks are pretty durable, as are bards, locks can be pretty tough with then write spells and invocations, so we should be good :-)

Ok thanks, that is good to know.
Is this correct then?
Tank: Monk, bard, (Depends: cleric, warlock)
Damage: Monk, warlock, sorcerer
Support: Cleric, bard

Heham is not a desert city. It is nestled amongst vast woodland and grassy hills. Heham is also where the ancient green dragon Alikil holds court, even though his lair is elsewhere.

The Tower of the Fallen is a city close to Eglar (opposite the channel, actually), and lies on the outskirts of the Desert of the Lost. It could technically be ruled by a dragon, since it lies in the region ruled by the white dragon Sumadea. However, the governor of The Tower of the Fallen is a black dragonborn named Mesheba.

Speaking of the world map, you can consider any labeled location to be a major city or stronghold. In the past, a place like The Tower of the Fallen may have been used for a different reason, but after Caer Tan's conquest many were repurposed for other ventures. The Tower of the Fallen, for example, now serves as a port city.

There are other unlabeled locations throughout the world. These are small villages or towns that pop up wherever there's a need, or hold so little value as to be considered inconsequential to global cartographers.

Ok posted the meaty bits of the backstory, **Words** are placeholders. Caer Tan is the region, right? What would best fit in those? I'm not looking for head of the table bossman, maybe one that rules close to the desert city and he sent his lackies or something.

We don't have anyone that would really fit the "tank" class currently. Monks and bards are durable, but neither has a high enough AC to be considered a tank. Likewise, my cleric is dex-based, so his AC is only 15, 17 with a shield (which is still not bad).

Depending on how they are built, any of the characters can serve as front line, and everyone is also capable of dealing some damage, which will give us excellent versatility in combat.

You are absolutely right that clerics and bards excel at support (aka battlefield control); warlocks and sorcerer's have that capacity as well, depending upon which spells are chosen.

Sorry if I go on...I love constructing characters and thinking about party balance.

I'm hoping we can discuss out-of-combat roles, too?
Aug 28, 2016 9:59 pm
No, go on as long as you like, I enjoy learning about this game.
As for out-of-combat my stealth, persuasion, deception, perception, and performance are pretty high. So infiltrator, smooth talker and entertainment is my role most likely.
