2. The First Delve

Luther will pace off the room to see what the number of paces are.

West Hall
It’s clear to Gabbro that he is not the first to rummage around in the ashes. They are all displaced towards the edge of the fire pit as if somebody, or something, has already searched through them. It doesn’t appear that the pit has been used recently, but if there was anything interesting here, you have been beaten to it.
There are six (mismatched) chairs surrounding the circular stone table.
Luther counts 15 paces east-west and 16 north-south.
The surface of the bottom of the table is much like the top. It’s supported by a single stone pillar atop a square stone base. There’s nothing unusual that Bob can see.

Ricard stands guard as the others search and measure the room. He nods in agreement with the comments about the math though he has no idea what the correct calculation should be. Enamored with his new blade, the warrior examines it with awe. Never has he owned such a fine weapon...

Pickles watches the group for a short time as they go about exploring the room, his brain ticking over the numerous brain numbing maths lessons with Uncle Pi. Once again Pickles was positive his Nan couldn’t write, rather than a cheap pun taker.

"You find the correct answer is one hundred thirty four and a quarter, as for one hundred forty four multiply by 4 equals five hundred seventy six. But not sure if that would help."

Gabbro nods in approval at the sight of the others inspecting the remaining items of interest in the room. He moves to the southeast exit and looks down (what he expects will be) the passage.

West Hall
The only markings that Bob can see on the suits of armour are due to the prevalent rust. Flicking open the visor of one of them reveals a cobwebby interior (regular cobwebs, as you might expect to see in any dark, enclosed, undisturbed space).
Indeed. The passage in the southeast corner of the room continues east for only 10’ before reaching a corner section and turning to the south.

"Everyone had their fill of the numbers and rust? Shall we move on?"

Ricard did not like staying still for so long, in the dungeon it was akin to ringing the dinner bell...

Jessica nods. "Ready," she says.

"I am ready."

More keen now just to move on Pickles nods with enthusiasm.

"So...back north," Gabbro gestures back the way they came, toward the northern passage we haven't explored, "or south around the corner?" Gabbro nods at the eastern passage behind him, which turns a corner to the south just a few paces in.

Gabbro commences tapping his way along the southeastern corridor.
