Dang, man, you have been struggling with that for a while. I hope everything gets figured out for you soon.
Take your time and recover.

So, just a heads up. I likely won't be able to post until Sunday. My son gets married tomorrow and today I'm booked up with assisting with preparations at the reception hall...and well, tomorrow I'll be busy with the wedding itself...and there will likely be some beveraging afterward so it may not be until later on Sunday.

I’m sorry I haven’t been as attentive as I try to be. My living situation has been on the verge of upending itself, things aren’t going great with my mom and I who I help take care of, and we just found out my dad has to have a medical procedure. I’ll be around more very soon, I promise!

Hey all, sorry I've been out of it for the past week or so. That mansion run kinda just took the wind out of the game for me, and it feels a bit hard for me to get back into it, so I'd rather not force it. There's enough players now to make a good run of it without me anyway, so best of luck to y'all.

Were there results provided for the requested perception check on June 20th? Jerinvar had rolled a 21.

Also, wedding weekend is now over and my son is a hitched man now. I'm 3 hours into a 24 hour shift at work. I'll hopefully be able to post tonight after my client goes to bed.

So if we want to help this guy out i have a couple of non-confrontational ways we might be able to. Im a bit worried about the direct approach dealing with powerful vampires at this level...

I see two possibilities, and we might be able to combine them in an overall plan.

1. Why is Strahd infatuated with the sister? If we can remove the source of infatuation then maybe he will leave her alone.
2. This concubine is working against her best interests. If Strahd get the sister, she will lose out on Strahds attentions. New girl, more competition for his affections. We might find a way to work with that.

Def can't go after Strahd at this point. Perhaps we can see if we can get the burial done so he can get his sister out of here until we can bolster ourselves enough to deal with the larger threats. In the meantime, keep picking away at the smaller threats and help out in the little ways we can.

It's worth trying to see if there is a reason for the infatuation, I agree. I don't think the concubine cares about her own interests. She's operating under orders, I would imagine. Or maybe she wants a sister wife because it's lonely as a vampire's trophy.

Yup just trying to ascertain underlying motivations and drivers for major players. Once we know that we can begin to make plans.

Helllooo!

Since I am a Pact of the Chain Warlock, I have a few questions on how you plan to run them. Just wanted to knock out a few questions or gray area out before they actually come into play.

1. With the Warlock Invocation Voice of the Chain Master. Will you require the warlock to burn an action to use their familiars’ senses? If so, would you require a used action every turn or just on the first turn you activate.

2. Can familiars Attune magic items? If so, what happens to magic items they have attuned to them if they "Die". Do the items drop or do they disappear alongside the familiar to reappear when they are resummoned.

You have 2 options. There are Pros and Cons to each.

1) Yes, the warlock would still need to use its action every time to look through the Familiar's Senses. The warlock would still be deaf and blind with regard to your own senses while using it.

2) The Warlock must use its action to look through the familiar's Senses and an Action to Turn it off. Dismissing the Familiar and casting touch based spell through the Familiar can only happen if the Familiar is within 1 Mile from the Warlock. (Distance will increase as they level)

Can familiars Attune magic items? If so, what happens to magic items they have attuned to them if they "Die". Do the items drop or do they disappear alongside the familiar to reappear when they are resummoned.
-The Warlock and the Familiar shares 3 attunement slots. If the Familiar dies while holding or attuned to an item it drops where they drop.

So Im reading the find familiar description and I don’t see anything about using an action to turn off senses, only to turn them on.

I also don’t see anything that mentions range limitations for dismissal or range increases with level.

As far as attunement, when you say "Share" do you mean between the two there would be 3 slots total and not 3 each.

Just wanted to confirm and understand your rationale. For a character (Warlock Chainmaster) who’s primary strength focus is the use of a familiar feeling a bit nerfed especially since familiars don't scale.

The rules might not be in the Find Familiar Disciption, but I am giving you either Homebrew or researched rulings others have used.

1) is Closer to RAW. Every turn, you have to use your action to see through your familiar. You turn it off as a free action.
You would not be able to use your action for anything else.

2) Allows you to use Action 1 once to See through the eyes of your familiar as long as you want but has range limits but you have to use an action to turn it off. (I am ok with this costing a Bonus Action instead)
The range Limits are so you can't just sit in one spot and do everything through you're familiar. It would allow you to see through your familiar's eyes and use your action to do other things with in range. It would also allow your familiar to fly and tell you what it sees telepathically anywhere, but if it gets into trouble, you can't poof it away.

You and your Familiar will have 3 Attunement slots to share in total.

These limitations are not to Nerf you at all. They are more for balancing issues. I have played a lot of games and have seen players do very OP and cheesey things using Familiars. I am trying to make it somewhat fair and balanced so the others have a chance to shine and use their abilities as well.

Since I do plan on getting voice of the chain master that increases range to unlimited for senses I would be more comfortable with option 1

I understand. Thank you for letting me know. Can you wait a little bit and acknowledge the last information I sent you. Just so the others are aware of it also.
I will think of something.

Thoughts anyone?

Anyone else in the party "Evil" Im thinking I’m the odd one out here and was trying to figure out a strategy to play evil, but not evil... if that makes any sense to you. I’ve come up with a brief on Dr. Crows thought process and Tiers of Evil.

I imagine, especially at the higher Tiers of Evil, Dr. Crow is likely to make the other PC's pretty uncomfortable. I want to avoid Inter-party conflict while still role playing my character. That being said its not lost on him that that not everyone is going to be onboard, even if it’s for he greater "Good" Dr. Crow will keep his work private for the most part, only sharing carefully sanitized and censored versions of what he does. What you see: Yup those sweet little orphans are cured and are now immune to the plague! What you don’t see: It only took the painful deaths of a thousand others to find the cure.

Dr. Crow is convinced to the point of obsession that mortality is the root of all suffering. He is also convinced that with enough knowledge, mortality and its associated afflictions can be eradicated, ultimately freeing humanity from the perpetual cycle of pain and death.

Dr. Crow's obsession, however, has twisted his sense of morality, and in his pursuit to ease mortal suffering, he has begun to engage in unethical experiments and makes ruthless decisions, believing that the end justifies the means.

Lawful Evil:

T1 – Will perform experiments and research on sentients with their consent. He will provide reasonable incentives to obtain consent. The experimentation could potentially be harmful to the subject.
T2 – Will use coercion and threats to obtain consent. Will use torture to obtain consent on those he deems unredeemable dregs of society.
T3 – Will experiment on minors and use coercion and threats to obtain consent
T4 – Will create mechanisms and leverage existing systems to create an endless supply of test subjects. Will test without direct consent. Examples include situations where a subject has been deprived of their rights by a third party. (Such as through imprisonment or slavery )
