Briar is most definitely not on the evil spectrum by even a small margin. I think Dr. Crow would figure that out pretty quick with her. I mean, she runs around telling villagers they are heroes in training, lol.

That being said, I am so here for this! I have yet to run in a game where a there was apt to be PC conflict due to morality and alignment differences. Conflict does not have to be violent; social tension from personality mismatch among the team of people who rely on each other to survive in the face of larger, more direct threats opens a door for some real interesting character development and interactions all around. I am excited to see how things unfold.

I think Briar’s naiveté will make it more difficult for her to see through the sanitized versions of Dr. Crow’s explanations and I honestly can’t wait to see what potential character evolutions that may force her into if/when she figures out the truth. She’s had one substantial development thus far (which resulted in her level 3 archetype choice being way different than what I intended when I first created her) and I enjoy being in games with people who have so much consideration for their character’s identity.

Briar’s personality certainly comes out and Dr. Crow finds it refreshing! Dr. Crow is not without empathy or compassion, especially when it comes to the innocent and downtrodden. Just the opposite. Having been exposed to so much misery and pain the good Dr. is "Hell Bent" on changing all of that. I thought the Tiers of Evil would be a good way showcase how as he grows in power so does his obsession.

I think the best way sum up Dr. Crow is with the following quote:

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

We went to St. Louis.
Went to the Zoo, City Museum, Magic House, and Aquarium.
We tried to see the arch, but it was $40 for parking due to a baseball game.
So we skipped that.

The Zoo was free, and we spent like 6.5hr theres...

Quote:
Sneak attack:

You don't need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn't incapacitated, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll.
I realize that the father doesn't see himself as an enemy to the son, but the son is treating the father like one.
Quote:
The son scrambles across the walls of the old church. "Father!! I AM HUNGRY!!" he yells, launching himself off the wall and rushing his father. Grabbing the old man by the neck, he lifts him off the ground, desperation and rage twisting his face into a horrific mask.
Quote:
The Son ignore Dr. Crow since he knows he has the correct target already...
If firing an arrow at the Son, would Jerinvar gain advantage? If not, could he have his familiar (using fly-by attack) fly by the son, use the help action to provide advantage, and then continue on its way, beyond the son.

Jorah is already in melee with the son. So you may gain advantage there.
Jul 31, 2024 3:53 pm
@Sardis You would need to use your Action to Summon your familiar. Last I knew it was in the Pocket Dimension.

And like Basil said you have Sneak due to Jorah being in melee.
Jorah being in Melee does not give you Adv on the attack. You would need to find another way to get ADV.
You would get Sneak attack No matter what.

@Sardis For ADV, DIS or Elven Accuracy
You can do the following

Adv - 2d20h1+mod
Dis - 2d20L1+mod
Elven Accuracy - 3d20h1+mod

Rolls

Adv - (2d20h1+2)

(1717) + 2 = 19

Elven Accuracy - (3d20h1+2)

(191514) + 2 = 21

Dis - (2d20l1+2)

(411) + 2 = 6

thanks...I'll copy/paste that to my character sheet for future reference.

Work is turning into a day, so I'll post when I'm off. That will also give the others some time to take their AoOs or anything like that.
Aug 2, 2024 5:00 pm
Can you draw a weapon (rapier) as part of an AoO? (For some reason I'm recalling that you can't) And I also don't think you can AoA with a ranged weapon.

If those 2 things are true, I don't believe there's any form of AoO Jerinvar can make.
Aug 2, 2024 5:08 pm
AFAIK, both of those are correct.

I guess technically you could use a ranged weapon as an improvised weapon to make a close combat attack?
Aug 2, 2024 10:26 pm
@Sardis Yeah MaJunior is correct.

You can't draw a weapon as part of an Attack of Opportunity
You can't Make a Range Attack attack with an Attack of Opportunity .
You CAN use your Range Weapon as an Improvised Weapon to make an Attack of Opportunity .
Aug 2, 2024 10:32 pm
Jerinvar wouldn't use his bow as a weapon and risk breaking it. He won't take an AoO.
Aug 2, 2024 10:41 pm
You can't break your bow if you yell "BONK!" when you do it.

Smiley says:

Ah, did not know. I thought because my crossbow is single handed it was possible. Disregard my AoO

Just a heads up...I leave tomorrow morning on a camping trip with the family and won't be back until Sunday afternoon/evening. Anything that needs to be done with my character to keep things moving along, feel free.

Have fun!!

Apologies for my lack of posts as of late. Not sure what I'm going through but my interest/desire to play D&D has plummeted.

Please remove me from the roster of this game.
