"We were lucky," Iseret says. "Are you alright, Tabat?"
Mar 30, 2024 1:16 am
"I...I do not know," Tabat says, slumping to the ground. "I feel so weak. That thing, I don't know what it did to me." He looks hopeful to his friend, "Khadi, is there anything you can do? Do you know what kind of magic that was?"
Mar 30, 2024 4:08 am
Khadi could also make a Spellcraft check DC 19, but Jaware pipes up. "I've heard of that ability, a spell called Enervation. It applies this weakness to you. I think it should fade over a few days, but it can be removed by magic faster. Not magic that I have unfortunately. Actually, I have very little magical energy left."

Rolls

Jaware spellcraft DC 19 - (1d20+12)

(15) + 12 = 27

Mar 30, 2024 7:24 am
Tabat nods, "That...is good to hear, that I should recover from such a thing. In my current state, and with you low on magic Jaware, perhaps we should rest? Do you think any of the rooms we've gone through would be safe enough to set up a watch and get some rest?"

You retreat to the visitors sisters where two corpses of women rest, protected from rising by gentle magics.

Setting guard for the night, you rest unmolested and regain your lost spells.
OOC:
The negative levels from Enervation disapear after nine hours, which is basically the rest period.
Apr 7, 2024 2:52 am
Iseret rises and stretches. "Feeling better, Tabat?" she says hopefully.
Apr 7, 2024 3:55 am
"Like a million platinum," Tabat says with a stretch. He spends some time praying to Horus and donning his armor and gear. "Now, I don't suppose one of you might know how to get through that other door? I don't know much about locks, but it seemed complicated if you were unable to crack it, Iseret."
Apr 7, 2024 8:26 am
Khadi is up earlier than the otehrs, praying to Khepri so that hewould sit it fit too recharges her magic. As the the discussion turns to the door she speaks up. 'I have requested from Khepri the ability to remove the magic from the lock. Hopefully that will make teh task easier'
OOC:
Rejigged some spell prep, including an extra dispel magic.
Apr 7, 2024 12:29 pm
Jaware says, "If that doesn't work, we could break it open. Well, Tabat could."

All ready, your weapons rearmed and after a light snack of food and water, you return to the large door that baffled Iseret's nimble fingers with it's confounding magic.
Apr 7, 2024 1:18 pm
Okay Khepri, it would be pretty embarrassing if we let them down right now.' Khadi holds her symbol, before casting the the spell trying to break down the doors defenses.

Rolls

Dispel CL check - (d20+6)

(19) + 6 = 25

Apr 7, 2024 5:04 pm
OOC:
CL 8, so DC is 11+8=19.
The goddess complies and the Arcane Lock is vanquished.

Beyond the doors are a set of stairs down to a chamber. This chamber is deathly silent, its vaulted ceiling absorbing any sounds from the surrounding area. A broad walkway leads through, flanked by deep pits. In the center of the walkway stands a quietly bubbling fountain filled with clear liquid.

There are runes in Celestial around the fountains base.

An enormous statue of Anubis stands in the chamber, armed with a flail.

"It's magic," Jaware notes immediately. "The statue and it's weapon too but differently. It's an animated statue. I've heard about these. They only let adherents of a specific faith pass."

Rolls

Knowledge Arcana - (1d20+12)

(3) + 12 = 15

Apr 7, 2024 6:07 pm
'The faith is Horus yes? ' She jokes ashe looks at the statues. Is there a way we can trick it?. I have some knowledge of the Anubis faith, and may be able to form some crude symbols or similar?'
OOC:
Religion check if required to see if she knows what my mark someone of the faith of Anubis.

Rolls

Religeon - (d20+11)

(5) + 11 = 16

Apr 7, 2024 8:49 pm
Khadi knows what a holy symbol to Anubis looks like. Fashioning one would take some artistic skill and raw materials.

"What do you think, Khadi? I know a bit about Anubis and his followers. Could my flail be used in some way to convince it to let us pass?"

Rolls

Tabat Menes: Knowledge (Religion) (Int) - (1d20+5)

(15) + 5 = 20

Apr 15, 2024 3:35 am
The Guardian will only respond to a proper symbol of Anubis. You could craft one perhaps, as in forgery, but it would have to be a reasonable approximation of the actual holy symbol.
Apr 15, 2024 3:56 am
"I have...unfortunately no thoughts on how to get past this without earning the wrath of this guardian. Jaware, are you practiced in that incantation that allows you to create simple objects? Presidation, is it?"

If someone can craft one I can try and help guide them on how it should look.
Apr 15, 2024 2:56 pm
"No, I don't know anything that could even be confused with illusion magic. We saw some Anubis sigils earlier, didn't we? In the entryway upstairs. Could we borrow something from that?" He realizes that's probably a non-starter, and shakes his head.
Apr 15, 2024 6:45 pm
"I could try to remove one of them with my crowbar," Tabat suggests.
Apr 15, 2024 8:11 pm
Twenty minutes later...

Tabat has broken off a statuesque holy symbol to Anubis and returned to the scene of the Guardian.
