Let's go through that!

Family

You know who your parents are or were.

You were born in a cave

You grew up modest with your adoptive family (same or different race)

You have 2 siblings. both younger than you.

Younger: A neutral Politician or bureaucrat. They are friendly towards you. Alive, but doing poorly due to injury, financial trouble, or relationship difficulties
Younger: A neutral Farmer or herder. They are friendly towards you. Alive and well
I imagine Tabaxi live more in the wilderness and jungles where they can sustain themselves on a mostly carnivorous diet. The cave could be in a great cliffside; Tabaxi are natural climbers.

Not sure where adoptive parents came out of all of the sudden, but perhaps the Tabaxi are communal in raising their cubs as a tribe? Tabaxi would know who their biological parents are, but the tribe raises them.
My 'politician or bureaucrat' sibling would be a bit odd, seeing as we live in a cave. Instead he might be a shaman of sorts who due to a leg injury cannot hunt?
The other would be a herder of boar.

Childhood

You lived in an encampment or village in the wilderness.

Others saw you as being different or strange, and so you had few companions.

You became a Outlander because; After a tragedy you retreated to the wilderness, leaving your old life behind.

You became a Ranger because; You have seen what happens when the monsters come out from the dark. You took it upon yourself to become the first line of defense against the evils that lie beyond civilization's borders.
Village in the wilderness is fine, as above.
My character is different in that he prefers solitude most of the time.
The tragedy might be the battle which is hinted at later, and that would also be why he became a Ranger.

Life so far

Age: 61 years or older

You fought in a battle. You suffered only minor injuries, and the wounds all healed without leaving scars. Work with your DM to come up with the reason for the battle and the factions involved. It might have been a small conflict between your community and a band of orcs, or it could have been a major battle in a larger war.

You fell in love or got married. If you get this result more than once, you can choose to have a child instead. Work with your DM to determine the identity of your love interest.

You fell in love or got married. If you get this result more than once, you can choose to have a child instead. Work with your DM to determine the identity of your love interest.

You made a friend of an adventurer. (Neutral Elf Cleric, Outlander - 20 years or younger) Work with your DM to add more detail to this friendly character and establish how your friendship began.

You made a friend of an adventurer. (Neutral Human Cleric, Soldier - 20 years or younger) Work with your DM to add more detail to this friendly character and establish how your friendship began.

You made an enemy of an adventurer. You are blameless for the rift. (Neutral good Halfling Cleric, Sailor - 51-60 years) Work with your DM to determine this hostile character's identity and the danger this enemy poses to you.

You committed a crime or were wrongly accused of doing so. Smuggling You committed the crime or helped do so, but nonetheless the authorities found you not guilty.

You encountered something magical. You turned invisible for a time.
Orcs make a fine enemy, and it would cause the sacking of the tribe who had to forcefully displace and seek the safety of the cities of the other species. The tribe would scatter and disperse into smaller groups because of it.

Love interest 1: My character would have taken a mate within the tribe. It was not a bond for life, although my character and his mate did care for one another.

Love interest 2: From the bond a litter of cubs would have been produced. They are being raised within what remains of the tribe.

Elf Cleric Outlander friend: This elf cleric of Silvanus may have encountered the fleeing tribe and led them to the city.

Human Cleric Soldier friend: This human servant of Tempus traveled alongside my character on some adventure.

Halfling Cleric Sailior enemy: My character matched this coarse sailor insult for insult, leading to a grudge.

Smuggling: The Tabaxi tribe became impoverished after having fled, and coin had to be made. Being a natural skulker, my character did what needed to be done to make ends meet.

Something magical turning my character invisible: It came to us Precious, yes, yes it did. *coughing*

I am pretty much good with everything you have here.

To make your Favored Enemy better I am going to suggest Humanoid(Shapechanger) (Instead of Orcs)
Maybe you had problems with some Werebats, Wereboar, Weretigers, or Werejaguars. (You pick which ever would fit the best)
I was slightly thinking your tribe has some ritual were you have to hunt them in order to be considered an adult.
Are you going melee or range themed?
What subclass/s are you debating?
Jan 6, 2024 1:02 pm
Oh, I am not taking Favored enemy, I am taking the Tasha's optional features Favored Foe and Deft Explorer. Those are generally helpful rather than hyper-specialized.

I am going for ranged themed. Using the tabaxi mobility (speed burst and climbing) to get advantageous positions.

I haven't considered a subclass yet. Beast Master (with Primal Companion) might be fun for the classic Ranger pet experience. Get my cat a cat. Alternatively Gloom Stalker would make my character a sneaky stealth assassin.

Sounds good.

If you wish, go, Beast Master. I have no problem with you starting with it.
Let me know if you wish to and which type.

We start at level 1 right? At level 3 a Ranger gets his conclave.

I would go for a land animal. Cat 'n all...

Yes. Starting level 1.
I was thinking you have your beast as a pet/friend at the start.
Use the same stats as the conclave gives you.

This is only if you plan on going beast Conclave.
If you don't know for sure we can wait.

Then I will start with Guenhwyvar My pet! :)

@Khulod

I want to make sure you understand something and are ok with your character's age.

For This Is Life, I asked everyone to select the age range 61 years of age or older, The reason for this is that the higher the age range, the more Life Events it generates for you. Setting your age to 20 Years of age or Younger generates only 1-2 life events. While 61 years of age or older will generate at least 6. Your character can be whatever age you wish. If you wanted to be 20-30 years old with kids and a wife, you left home. Go for it. Just let me know what your plans are

I picture Eye of the Storm in his late thirties, with young kids who are being raised by the tribe. He wanders around using his woodland expertise to earn money. In part because he can't conform to city life. But his tribe remains his priority.

Sounds goods.
I just wanted to make sure you character was what you wanted and the age was not something forced on you.
