I'm a little unclear on momentum generation. If I'm counting correctly, Hural achieved 6 successes on his attack, but generated only 1 momentum? If it's one momentum generated per excess success, are these thugs really difficulty 5? I'm probably getting all this very wrong.

DUTY (7) BATTLE (6), Hural rolled 1 and 8.
So the target is 13 (=6+7). Rolling 13 or lower generates 1 success. If you have an applicable focus, such as Battle (long Blades) then rolling the skill rank (in this case 6 for Battle) or less, results in two successes.
So the 8 and the 1 are both less than or equal 13 so generate one success each. The 1 is also less than or equal to your Battle rank so would count double if there is an applicable focus. Since you have the focus Battle (long Blades), the 1 does indeed generate an extra.
So the 8 generates one success, the 1 generates two, for a total of 3.
The thug defended (combat are opposed rolls) and rolled two successes, reducing the three to one success. One is enough to defeat them.

Ah ok! Thank you. What does increasing the quality of his long blade from his talent do? I tried looking over the rules and I thought it generated extra successes - or maybe it reduces the difficulty of the challenge? I'm a bit lost on that.
Sorry and thank you for explaining. I rather like this rule set and just got an absolute STEAL at a local convention to get the physical book for only $10USD, so I really want to understand it.

The Quality of an Asset reduces the difficulty of actions using the Asset. For a Mook, that's no effect, as they're Difficulty 1 so one hit and out. However, named characters will have a higher difficulty.

Re: the voice - my reading of canon and the rule-book is that bene gesserits keep the power of the voice secret i.e. they wouldn't use it in a situation where anyone (including other agents of the house) would report about it to others.
Thus, I'm saving it for only being used when one-on-one with someone.

Me too! We have a place in northern NY that happens to be in the path of totality! I'll be around though. Good luck with the weather. So far it's looking good for us.

Hey everyone - just got written off sick with burnout and I'm feeling it really strongly at the moment. I want to keep up playing this game AND I need to try and make sure it's not adding to my exhaustion.
Just wanted to give you a heads up. I intend to make space for the game, as I think it's good for me, but I might find it's too much at the moment. I'll keep you posted. Sorry for not being as focused and reliable as I'd like to be here with y'all.
If we're in several of the same games, I'll post this in each of them in case you're thinking, hm, I'm sure I already read that heh.

I'm going to be scarce from Friday the 3rd through the 10th. My son is graduating college this weekend and then I have to pick up my daughter from her college the following Friday with a mini-vacation in-between. I should be able to check in once/day, but it's not guaranteed.
