London, 1888-1897. The world recoils in horror at an ongoing series of horrific slayings in London's east end. Caught between the interests of the elders who make this ancient city their home, and the explosion of new ideas and philosophies of the modern world, two deadly threats bracket a period of vast change.

Enter, if you dare, the court of Mithras.
This post is to gauge interest in a game of Victorian Age Vampire. VAV is a small release from White Wolf, a three book alternate setting for their flagship Vampire: The Masquerade, except set in the dying days of the 19th century.

The story would take place in two parts - the first in 1888 following the murders attributed to Jack the Ripper. The second in 1897, when the most famous vampire of all moves to London. Both events are catalysts for change in a world that struggles mightily to not.

The players would be middling vampires, motivated to uncover the murders before the world's media sheds light into London's every shadow. Mithras has kept London neutral ground, but it definitely leans more to the Camarilla than the Sabbat, though neither operate openly.

Players would only need access to basic V:TM rules. The rest is straight forward.

so what would you say to a gangrel ex-soldier who was embraced during the Anglo-zulu war?

Nice

ofr the gangrel flaw, are you going with revised or v20? in v20 animal features you gain from frenzy are temporary

I don't have any if the v20 material, so it will be Revised, with some timeline alterations, of course (mostly involving Malkavians)

I can work with that. I'll just have to avoid frenzy

I'm thinking someone who was special forces, who would be trained in stealth and commando type stuff, embraced by an african gangrel, taught the ropes for a couple of years, and decided to return to london before the wanderlust hits him again. I can make my haven in the outskirts of the city.

That sounds great Gangrel are one of my fav clans. Definitely on top 13. And the concept sounds great as well.

and the combination of being a soldier and the gangrel blood helps him realize the real purpose of politics and so he keeps it at arm's length. he doesn't want to be used to push someone else's agenda again.. however, the pack instinct is very strong in gangrel and if he finds a group of others he can tolerate he'll stick around for a while

that even works out with the time line. after the events of 1888 unfold, he can go wandering and return in the 90's

Bah ha ha... Good luck with that.

well, just because he's involved in it doesn't mean he likes it. maybe working with the prince has a benefit

In my IRL game of VAV, I had 200 vampires living in London, plus spies, plus Inconnu, plus visitors... not doing that again, haha.

I've set up the game. Character creation stuff has been posted. Working on the NPCS list.

This will take some time (a few days) to get going, but looking forward to it!

Anybody else interested in this one? Could run it for three players even (have two).

I would but I'll need a few days to look over the books and figure out what I should play. Also I've added a few more games recently since things were slowly down and speeding up. It sounds a little like Vampire Sherlock though... XD...
