Same thing happens again:

Just tampering with the lock causes its trap to release. After a mysterious "pop" sound, clawed necrotic hands reach you from the walls, ceiling and floor. They attempt to grapple, scratch or punch you!
OOC:
Everyone in the Hallway roll to avoid a trap; DC4. Describe how it harms you or how you avoid it in your post. Failure is the loss of a strike.

Guess I’ll spend one Karma.

What did you do that for?
OOC:
Same as Seck...Rolling...

Oops, meant that as adding karma for +1.

"Theres a first time for everything, Grimbly. What a ghastly contraption! Time to use that crowbar I suppose. If not to beat this dreaded lock, then perhaps to pry the door itself away."
Feb 18, 2024 8:16 pm
Katie curses herself for not stepping out of the danger zone as she ducks and weaves between the clawing hands. "Nope, no, nope!" she calls out as she dodges them, batting them away with Nutbuster.

"Well this door is a lost cause. We should move on. Wait..." Kendral's mental gears turn. "Maybe this necrotic trap cannot stop our soul weapons. But instead of Grimbly being close with his crowbar, let's get as far back as possible and I'll take a shot at it with by bow. I've always enjoyed a good sharpshooting contest."

Same as before, the hands recede and the padlock remains locked and intact.

East-Back to the Harbor
South and Center-Double Doors with a sign that reads "Dining Room"
North and Center-Strong Door locked with padlock
West-Normal Exit

Grimbly addresses the other. "I can keep those vile hands clear of me by using one of my scrolls to cast a spell. Then I think I will be given the mate if I stand close enough to the door. Allow me to try."

The Hedge Wizard withdraws one of his scrolls, unravels it, and chants at the trap, "I will not be grappled, webbed, glued, slowed, or restrained in any way!"

"Grimbly Lockspeaker!" Belvedere quips from somewhere behind Ploshkin and the rest!

"That’s surely done it, don’t you think?" he asks the others!
Feb 20, 2024 5:56 am
"It may have Belvedere," replies Kendral waiting in anticipation to see if Grimby's magic did the trick.

The scroll 'evaporates' with a spark; proving that the spell is a success!

"Bah! Grimbly cries, for he thought he would have the key right here and now. "We must leave through the exit then and follow whatever prompts the spirit deigns to give us.

The rascal is clearly frustrated feeling that the spirits are toying with him.

Trying to encourage Grimbly Kendral says, "Your magic words were something to the effect of...not be grappled or restrained in any way so maybe it was successful and Belvedere can pick the lock. Be a shame not to try now after your scroll vanished magically like that."

"Wait no! You said I, so I don't think Belvedere would be safe. You must use your crowbar now."

OOC:
The DC to open the lock with a crowbar is 6. Considering Grimbly's profession I'll give him a boon.
Feb 21, 2024 4:03 pm
"Alright, alright." Grimbly attempts to smash open the lock with his crowbar. Taking a full swing he does not manage to open the lock. opens the lock.

"Back to the drawing board."
OOC:
Wow, haha! I am presuming the 6 gets that lock open but I'm not sure if I can keep rerolling 1's?
