OOC:
Sorry guys, this is my first fight, I didn't do my homework of reading the rules. Now I've taken a look, can I redo my actions?
Feb 23, 2024 1:56 am
OOC:
Sure. Write a new post. =)

OOC:
Understanding the rules of combat title better, I would like to change my actions to:
Main Action
Upon spotting the bot, its metallic armor and arsenal emerging from the ground ready for combat, Phantom instinctively places his right hand on his coat, searching for something. Feeling along the hem for the item that should be there, he finds only an empty holster. "Damn it! I forgot I'm without my pistol." he mutters in frustration.

On Turn Action
He shoots a distressed look towards Adeon, hoping for some initiative, and says, "You're supposed to be the tank here, go on and do your job!" Phantom's combat style leans towards stealth, sneaking up behind the opponent for a surprise attack, but in this scenario, the element of surprise is lost.

On Turn Action - using Spatial awareness
Utilizing his psychic powers, Phantom gains a 360-degree awareness of the arena, searching for any object that could serve as a makeshift weapon or a location that might offer a strategic advantage in the battle against the enemy.

Move Action
In search of safer ground, while psychically scanning the arena with his powers, Phantom stealthily moves to a position that could shield him from becoming a direct target of the bot's projectiles.

OOC:
Perfect, thanks. That's a new scene, so you got your previous Effort back. With that On Turn action and the activation of the spatial awareness, your commited effort is now 1 out of 4 again.

Sometimes it will be obvious the type of action you will be doing, so the headers won't be necessary, but when in doubt, do as you did and it will be very easy for us to understand. Thanks!

We will wait for Adeon's round now.
Feb 23, 2024 12:51 pm
OOC:
Just to clarify, @htech, who is actually participating on the combat? I assumed it was just the two of them, but i re-read the message and all of us are in it?
Feb 23, 2024 1:01 pm
OOC:
Just the two of them. You're all watching, like Markus, cause you didn't volunteer:

No answer is an answer?
OOC:
Yes, it's haha
After an eerie silence engulfed the space between them, Adeon's voice, barely above a whisper, broke the stillness:
"I'm sorry, amigo" he murmured, the words hanging in the air like a delicate promise. "I'll take it easy, I swear."
Spectro says:
"Damn it! I forgot I'm without my pistol."
"Don't worry, they forgot that I'm a freacking weapon" - Adeon whispers to Phantom
Spectro says:
"You're supposed to be the tank here, go on and do your job!"
"Yeah, yeah, got it.", Adeon said with a nonchalant wave of his hand, motioning for Phantom to step aside. But that was actually their silent signal, a cue for Phantom to do what he did best—slip by the side through the shadows unnoticed.

With a swift stride, Adeon darted towards the bot. His makeshift cape, a blanket tied around his neck, fluttered behind him, concealing his back from those trailing him. Yet, as he closed in on his metallic adversary, it unveiled the full extent of his mechanical prowess to his enemies.

With determination etched on his face, Adeon lunged forward, aiming to disarm the bot with his bare hands and turn the tide of the impending clash.
OOC:
Well that probably was a sucessfull roll, I'll roll for the STR Punch against the bot skill check + 3 that he has. Please I hope it works lol.
OOC:
[ooc]OCC after the str/puch roll: Sh*t, did I rolled it right? 2d6 + my str modifier?
[/ooc]

Rolls

Disarm Foe - ToHit - (1d20+3)

(18) + 3 = 21

Str/Punch - (2d6+1)

(21) + 1 = 4

Feb 24, 2024 8:51 am
OOC:
It's 2d6 + Punch + Str, but I can easily add 1 to that result, for a total of 5. I forgot the bot's +3 in the roll below, so that was an 11 for its resistance.
As Adeon attempted to disarm the bot, he quickly realized that its metallic arms were incredibly sturdy, making the task more challenging than anticipated.

Moreover, the soldier bot swiftly retaliated, stowing its laser rifle and using its powerful arm swinging back with lightning speed. Adeon's senses tingled with warning, and he barely managed to evade the full force of the blow. Instead of a direct hit to his face, the bot's punch glanced off his shoulder, sending him stumbling backward but still hurt.
Adeon received 4 points of damage. You have 1 HP left
As the intense battle between Adeon and the soldier bot unfolded, Phantom's keen eyes and psionic powers scanned the arena for any advantage they could use to turn the tide in their favor. Amidst the holographic displays and metallic panels, Phantom's gaze fell upon an object tucked away in a corner of the arena.

Moving swiftly and silently, Phantom closed the distance to the object and reached out to retrieve it. It was a length of sturdy metal piping, discarded and forgotten amidst the chaos of the simulated combat area. Although rudimentary, Phantom recognized its potential as a makeshift weapon in their struggle against the soldier bot.
OOC:
Next round. PCs turn.

Rolls

Resist disarm - (2d6+1)

(52) + 1 = 8

Bot punches Adeon, DC15 - (1d20+1)

(14) + 1 = 15

Metallic fist damage - (1d4+1)

(3) + 1 = 4

Feb 25, 2024 12:19 am
As the bot's metallic fist connects with Adeon's shoulder, there's a collective anticipation among the spectators, expecting him to be nudged backwards by the force. However, to their surprise, Adeon remains steadfast, unfazed by the impact.
OOC:
I'll use the Warrior's perk (instant ability) and negate the bot successful attack roll.
Adeon's gaze fixes upon the metallic fist now perched on his shoulder, a hint of amusement dancing at the corner of his mouth. Without missing a beat, he meets the bot's gaze head-on. "My turn, buddy", he declares with a grin, swiftly delivering a retaliatory punch to the bot's torso.
OOC:
Can you tell me the bot DC, so I can put on the roll? Or I shouldn't know that? Because If it's below 15 DC the foe takes shock damage from my punches, if it's a successful hit.

Rolls

Unarmed strikes - ToHit - (1d20+3)

(18) + 3 = 21

Unarmed strikes - Damage - (1d8+2)

(6) + 2 = 8

Nesta is mesmerizing by her two friends trying to hand fight a metal robot, and also she’s recording them with her data pad, she thinks that she and Adeon will have some good laughs about it later.

"I don’t thing straight punching a metal robot would be very good for his hand"

She whispers under her breath to Maya

But all the same she can’t stop thinking about how she would try to defeat the bot, and it’s already thinking about what kind of firewalls it would have in place
OOC:
That last part is actually a question to the dm, how would I go about hacking the bot, is it connected to the network? The book says that some systems I would have to get physical access. Also could someone else connect a shunt in my behalf?

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. When you don't have the AC, do as you did... Just put the ToHit and Damage and I will ignore the damage if you missed.
Quote:

It's actually the other way around. Shock damage is only inflicted on a melee target if
the hit roll fails. If you hit, they take either Shock or your rolled damage, whichever is higher.
I will describe what happened after your punch when Phantom posts. I wanna write both your and his results together.

Case by case. In that specific situation, you would need physical access to the SFSS computers controlling this exercise. Please note that this is unsual, and it's just a possibility because its a simulation. Most combat bots you wouldn't be able to hack while they are active.

About the shunts, again, case by case. =)

Nesta says:

Maya shrugs and shakes her head with a soft grin.

"Well, that's Adeon, what can we do?! I can clearly see him approaching me later with his puppy eyes asking to "fix his hand""

She whispers back.

Phantom grips the metal tube tightly, and with a focused burst of his psychic powers, he teleports behind the bot to catch it unawares. Like a spearman with his weapon, he thrusts the tube towards a gap in the bot's armor, targeting a vulnerable spot near the seams of its metallic shell.

@htech help me, what dice do I need to roll:

That would be a Commit Effort and an use of your Main Action for the round. You need Proficient Apportation for it to count as a Move Action.

I think you're overusing your powers. Whenever you can just walk, that's normally the best course of action. They should be kept for unique situations.
Quote:

You need another Main Action and a melee attack (using stab) for that. Can't do that this round, together with the teleportation.

Wanna roll back and rewrite that round or should we continue with just the Teleport as the Main Action?
Feb 25, 2024 8:14 pm
OOC:
PS: If you wanna change your PC, I can let you swap this once that Spatial Awareness for Proficient Apportation. Seems to be closer to what you're doing.

OOC:
As it's a combat simulation, I was taking the opportunity to test all of Phantom's psyches. The reason for teleporting behind the bot would be to ensure the surprise of the attack. But if I can get the same result just by sneaking, I'll go that route then. So, follow the rewritten actions:
Phantom grips the metal tube tightly and, taking advantage of the 360 view of the arena that is still in his mind, he reaches behind the bot to catch him by surprise.

As Phantom lunged forward with the metal tube, the soldier bot's sensors detected the incoming threat, and it pivoted with surprising agility, narrowly evading the strike.

The metal tube grazed harmlessly against the bot's armored shell, failing to penetrate its defenses. Yet, the sudden diversion created just enough of a distraction for Adeon to seize the opportunity.

With a calculated maneuver, Adeon pivoted on his heel, his cybernetic-enhanced reflexes guiding his fist toward the bot's central power unit in its torso. His punch landed with pinpoint accuracy, striking the vulnerable spot with enough force to cause a cascade of sparks to erupt from the bot's interior.

The soldier bot shuddered and convulsed as the central power unit short-circuited, its systems overwhelmed by the unexpected assault. With a final fizzle, it slumped to the ground, disabled and defeated.

The spectators erupted into cheers and applause as they realized the crew had emerged victorious from the simulated battle. Markus, watching from the sidelines, approached with a congratulatory smile.

"Well done, everyone," Markus praised, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "You've proven yourselves to be a capable and resourceful team. As promised, I will honor our agreement."

With a flourish, Markus produced a data pad from his coat pocket. "In addition to the credits for the job, I'm pleased to offer you all licenses to work as long range scouts and bounty hunters within the Federation's territories. Consider it a token of my gratitude for your exemplary performance."
"But back to your main mission, as I said before, the ship is downed at Watson, where the previous crew abandoned it. The ship was a detached duty Scout/Courier assigned to them and has apparently been mistreated. There are penalties for abusing detached duty ships, since they still belong to the Scout Service, so the crew decided it was in their best interests to disappear. In any case, the ship legally belongs to us, so I will provide the appropriate documentation and smart contracts to allow you to pick it up and bring it home. All necessary spares and software will be provided, along with override codes that will allow you to delete the ship’s operating system and install the new one. The old system may be badly corrupted and in any case it is still keyed to the old crew. Operating the ship with that system still in place would be hazardous if it were possible at all. Here, please read and sign this contract:"

Sylonean Smart Contract SFFS048506
This is a collective smart contract and must be signed by all of the following people to have an effect: Maya, Phantom, Ariel, Adeon and Nesta, further identified *here*

The above people are heretofore denominated "The Stuck'n'a'rut crew", or, simply, "The crew"

1. Upon signing this smart contract, the crew will receive from the SFSS 1,000 credits each, in their private accounts, as a non-reimbursable signing bonus.

2. The crew also receives, for one year, a license that allows them to take on official missions for long range scouting and bounty hunting of fugitives and criminals within the Sylonean Federation.

3. The crew also receives legal authorization for the recovery, piloting and traveling with the Scout Ship D0002975, also known as Stuck'n'a'rut.

4. The crew will receive three flight cases full of circuit panels and tools for swapping them out, plus a portable diagnostic/software download unit the size of the other cases. This equipment must be installed on the Stuck'n'a'rut starship or returned to a SFSS station within the year, or the crew will automatically pay 50,000 credits, split equally among all members, in fines and material costs.

5. Once the vessel is brought back to Satton, the crew will then be given another 1,000 credits as a reward and for expenses during the week or so it will take to check over the ship and make sure its software is properly updated. The crew will then be given use of the ship for one year, initially.

6. The one-year lease of the ship is on standard Scout Service Detached Duty terms, detailed in Regular Contract SFSS124986. The crew will have to pay for their own life support and fuel costs and must keep the ship in good order in case it is needed. The vessel’s logs will be examined whenever it passes through a Scout Service installation, providing information on starports and ship movements in the area. The Scout Service will overhaul and perform maintenance of the ship at the end of the year, at which time it may or may not be reassigned to another crew.

"Any questions?"

After triumphing over the bot, Adeon humbly kneels before the motionless metallic form, a gesture of respect for his formidable opponent. With a solemn whisper, he confides, "I really hope you didn't have a conscience" before exhaling deeply, his relief palpable.

Returning to the group, he turns to Nesta with a hopeful gleam in his eye. "Did I pull off a cool move there, sister Nesta?" he inquires eagerly.
Markus Solanis says:
"But back to your main mission, as I said before, the ship is downed at Watson........"
Following Markus's verbose monologue, Adeon is standing there, mouth agape, a dribble of drool escaping, utterly perplexed by the discourse.

He turns to Dra. Maya, seeking her counsel with a simple yet earnest question, "Dra. Maya should I trust him?"

Only upon receiving Maya nod of approval Adeon will sign the contract.
