Welcome to the game! I'll be creating threads throughout the morning with an overview of how the game works, the starting characters you can choose from, and a few introductory scenarios we can pick from when we are ready to get started. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. :)

Characters, Tracks, and Shelves

I'm thinking for residents I'd be looking to play Amelie or Yazeba, and for guests (I don't know if we play them?) I'd be looking at Viv & Rag and Bones.

Each chapter, everybody picks one resident or guest to play for that scenario. (You can also play multiple characters, if you are so inclined.) Then, before we start the next scenario, everybody can pick different characters to play.

Ah, gotcha. Well, those are the names I'm throwing into the hat then. Amelie would be my first choice, given they're long term, though. :3

I've posted a selection of early chapters that make good introductions to the game and the characters. Once everybody is here, we can decide on one to start with, and that can help inform your character choices.

Hm... having taken a more thorough look at the game, I've come to the conclusion that it's not for me.

I'll play as Sal. Never played a night auditor before but my birth father worked as one being a hotel guest clerk irl .

I would like to play Amelie.

It looks like two people want to play Amelie. Remember you are encouraged to switch characters each scenario, so somebody should pick a different character this time and then we can switch later.

Any thoughts on which chapter you all want to start with?

Can we play the chapters in order? Just curious

You can play the chapters in any order that you choose. The numbers are deliberately out of order though to support the fact that there is no "right" way to play them.

There are many more chapters as well. The ones I posted make for good introductions.

I'm not fussed honestly, depending on the others I'm happy to leave it up to the dice gods to decide.

Alright, to remove some of the option paralysis, the book suggests starting with "Another Rainy Day" as the first chapter, so let’s do that. We will have:

Brainiac as Hey Kid
Ysolde as Gertrude
Amber as Sal
Tickettbror as Amelie
Jomsviking as Parish

If this amenable to everybody, I’ll start the gameplay thread tomorrow morning.
