Certain that he didn't stand a chance in combat with a "monster" that had so easily shrugged of the amount of damage he and his allies had already delivered, Jerinvar opted to take a more defensive position, designed to ensure his own safety over stopping the feral beast that was now before them.

The son sprints towards the fiery horse, his hand outstretched. As his fingers graze the creature's scorching flank, Jorah releases a stone from his sling, but it whizzes harmlessly over their heads. In an instant, the horse erupts in a fiery blaze, enveloping the son in flames. With a thunderous crack, both vanish into thin air, leaving behind nothing but the acrid scent of sulfur and a small pile of smoldering ash. The air sizzles where they once stood, the remnants of their presence fading like a dying ember

"That went well," Jorah quips, then rushes to the downed priest to see if he's alive.

Dr Crow examines the dust….remains of the son?

Utterly flabbergasted, Briar stands stunned in a silence most unlike her. Mouth agape, she watches as Dr. Crow examines the recently vacated space with wide unblinking eyes. Slowly, she turns her head to see Jorah tending to the older man. Gradually, her attention travels to the rest of her companions while her expression remains stoic.

Finally, she returns her attention in the direction of Dr. Crow and the pile of ash. "What is this place!?" She cries out in desperate fear, dropping to her knees in an exaggerated and dramatic swoon. "My poor little heart," she mumbles.

The ashes could be human but it is really hard to tell given the circumstances...

Father Donavich wakes with a jump. He coughs up some blood and looks around. "What...What happened. Where is my BOY!!!" He sputters out.

Jorah just shakes his head and looks to the good Doctor.

"I thought we lost you there for a second" Says Crow looking over the priest "Your son it seems is under the influence of a dark and corrupting compulsion. In his madness he was taken by a steed of fire and power. I know not where."

"There is still hope that the compulsion can be broken, his free will restored. I fear however without powerful magics or divine intervention his physical condition is permanent."
