Out of Character Special Creation

Well, I am thinking that a tiefling fits because of how a circus typically makes up of people who are more unusual and less accepted in common society.

If you or the other players really don't like the idea though, I can come up with another character concept.

Having a druid in a circus sounds a bit unusual, but it could work. I imagine they would be pretty involved in making sure the circus animals are being well taken care of.

YullyBear says:
Druid seems the less fitting. From the description it seems they are people loving and helping people despised what they suffer from others. Druid is entirely turned toward nature; what the intake of other players ?
While not always benevolent, aasimars are more inclined toward acts of kindness rather than evil, and they gravitate toward faiths or organizations associated with celestials. Aasimar heritage can lie dormant for generations, only to appear suddenly in the child of two apparently human parents.

Druids are allies to beasts and manipulators of nature, these often misunderstood protectors of the wild strive to protect all that is theirs from threats.

In the case of my character concept, I was thinking that when he found out that he was an aasimar he was cast out by his parents and that's how he ended up with the circus and sleeping with the animals. The animals taught him patience and kindness and to turn the other cheek. As a druid, being allied to beasts makes sense.

I have no problem with your tiefling idea and yes, taking care of the animals seems to fit well with the circus setting I think.

I'd probably play an elf, Empiricism investogator, with a bookeeper background. Like most character creation, I've got the concept 99% done in my head, just need to get it all typed up and submit a character.

@testlum: Sorry I missread I thought you wanted an Aasimar, no problem to a Tiefling Druid.

Ah there's some confusion, I wanted to play a tiefling monk. Windyridge wants to play an aasimar druid.
Feb 15, 2024 8:53 am
That what I sought, so I think A Tiefling Monk and an Aasimar Druid don't really fit together. What do you thingk ?

Are you mainly worried that our characters will come into conflict because of their infernal/celestial bloodlines? I don't have any intention of playing my monk as any kind of evil character, so that shouldn't be an issue.

No need to dwell on the "wrestling with his inner demons" aspect of being a tiefling either. I'm more interested in playing the 'finding a place where he can belong' part of the tiefling concept.

Non Heritage is not a problem in itself, and class is not either a problem in itself.

I think that a Tiefling Monk is not a a valid option because I see conflict between Tiefling pull toward evil and th necessary calm of a fighting monk.

Same thinh with Aasimar, in their description they are very much people oriented, which to me is in opposition with the concept of Druids.

Alright, if tiefling monk is not available, I'll go back to the drawing board. Will figure out something else by the weekend.

EDIT: For our confirmed roster, we have a changeling witch and an elf investigator, yeah?

How about Bard?

Bard is fine.

Then it looks like my PC has the following:
Race: Aasimar (human), Class: Bard, Heritage: Oread

Circus Backgrounds in Rules.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I don't think you can have both Oread and Aasimar heritages on top of your human race?

I'll probably go with a dwarven monk who's the bearded lady of the troupe.
Feb 16, 2024 3:34 am
You could be right. I am unfamiliar with the advanced stuff. I'll stick with Aasimar.
Feb 16, 2024 8:30 am
Correct you can take only one heritage, the idea is one of your parent is a planar and the other a regular creature.

@testlum a bearded lady dwarf, that sounds fun.

I am going to follow Runekyndig good idea that makes sense with the campaign.

You all gain a free archetype at creation if you choose to, or you may wait and get one later.
Feb 16, 2024 7:05 pm
oh, interesting. Does it have to be one of the circus arhetypes, or can it be anything that fits our characters backstory?

No, it does not have to be a circus archetype.
Feb 16, 2024 9:14 pm
I think I'll hold off on the archetype. To my knowledge we do not have a healer when we hit level 2 I'm thinking of taking the Medic archetype. I need the battle medicine feat to do that. I can get that at level 2

throwing knives, casting hexes, and mending cut palms and soar hoves.
