On the fly battlemaps

Is otfbm server temporarily down for handling backgrounds? Is it with me? I am doing something wrong? Does anyone have any information?

Even Adam's guide is not showing the map result for me anymore.

Not sure. The OTFBM on my game is showing an image. Maybe the background image doesn't exist anymore or it doesn't include ".jpg" at the end

Something wrong? It worked yesterday.

I have the same problem htech. My battlemaps won't show either. I noticed this evening when I went to update.

On their discord, OTFBM put out this emergency announcement on Feb 12:

@everyone I regret to send this out to everyone, but this impacts many amazing people. As some of you know by now, Discord changed the way they are hosting the images uploaded. They will not work with OTFBM any more. Backgrounds will still work when shared from other image hosting services. We will continue to help people with all the functions of the alias as normals along with helping get images from other services working.

Seems like it is related. Maybe they are tinkering with the code, causing it to not work elsewhere?

Does anyone has a workaround or another site/suggestion to replace otfbm?

The otfbm developers are discussing fixes.

With luck they'll deploy a fix soon.

The issue persists, unfortunately. But if the GM uses another image server, they may be able to work around it. I will try to do that for my games.

Here are otfbm developers' recommended sites:
- imgbam (the real image link, not that one with their banner around it)
- imgbb (slow load times)
- flickr (link from camera roll, not photostream)
- photouploads.com
- pinterest

Imgur is severely rate limiting otfbm. It may only work early in the month or if they add caching or a header bypass in a future version.

Imgur links allow for various sizes of the image, some otp which are preserved. Could the otfbm menu option, and even the upload image, be modified to upload to imgur and use the thumbnail 't' as the default? This wouldn't fix the issue but could reduce the impact going forward.

I've been using imgbb. Main thing is the link it gives you is not to the image but to a place to see the image. You need to follow that link and then copy the link to the image there (I normally open the image as a new tab and that URL works)
