Sweeping his gaze over the crowd, Phantom searches for an old acquaintance, someone indebted to him, who could facilitate their discreet entrance into the ship's crew.
Phantom knows a guy in the spaceport who can let him sneak aboard a vessel. But once inside, he would be on his own, illegally, without a bed, food, entertainment, etc for six days. He would also have to stay hidden this whole time and try to sneak away in Watson.

That's looking like a last resort and doesn't seem to be a good idea now.

You don't know a ship’s captain that could hire you and is going to Watson.

Captain! What a pleasure to reach you! It's been a while since we talked. It's sweet of you to let us in, we promise we'll help in any way we can!

Maya then approaches the rest of the crew and says:

Guys, let's remember that she's letting us in as a favor to me, so we're going to behave and we're going to work as hard as we can, okay?
OOC:
@htech, I have a question tho! The "you can call on one favor per game day and the GM decides how far they’ll go for you." doesn't make a lot of sense since we're not playing "per game day", in our situation, what "game day" would mean? Scene?

OOC:
Game day means a day in-game. When Maya goes to sleep at night, it's another game day. =)
A single game day can have multiple scenes. But a single chapter can take multiple in-game days.

As Maya concluded her conversation with Captain Michelle Corelli, a sense of relief washed over her. The opportunity to secure passage aboard the far trader Autumn Gold was a perfect outcome, especially considering the favor she had called in from her old friend.

After Maya's reminder, the crew nodded in agreement. With a shared sense of purpose, they set about preparing for their journey aboard the Autumn Gold.

Meanwhile, Ariel, ever eager to take to the skies, wasted no time in making his way to the cockpit of the far trader. With his brown hair tousled by the artificial breeze of the starport, he grinned eagerly as he settled into the pilot's seat.

"Time to show Captain Corelli what I'm made of," Ariel muttered to himself, his hands dancing over the controls with practiced precision. With a flick of a switch and a gentle push of the throttle, the engines of the Autumn Gold roared to life, filling the starport with the familiar hum of the spike drive engines.

After waiting for authorization from flight control and an easy enough take off, Ariel found himself faced with a crucial task: plotting the ship's course to Watson using the outdated rutter provided by Captain Corelli. While a rutter was essential for navigating the metadimensional currents and energetic weather of space, relying on one that was a year old presented its own set of challenges.

With a furrowed brow, Ariel studied the data displayed on the ship's navigation console. The coordinates and trajectories seemed relatively accurate, but he couldn't shake the feeling of uncertainty that lingered in the back of his mind. A year was a long time in the ever-shifting currents of space, and he knew that relying solely on outdated information could lead to unforeseen complications.
OOC:
Now, let's see if you're really that good of a Pilot. Gimme a Int/Pilot skill check (ie. roll 4d6h2+1 as the dice) with DC8, to make a successful spike drill, the process taking 30 minutes.

You have to roll 8 or more. If the roll fails, something has gone wrong on the drill, and I will tell you what ;)

PS: This is not a simulation. =D

Wow, that’s huge, I also had the understanding that it was per "real life" game day, that’s way more useful.

I have a question, why is it 4d6h2+1, sometimes I don't understand how many dices to roll and why some of the rolls have the 'h2' or 'h1' for examples. Please Oh Blessed Master explain to me.

Usually there are two ways to roll the dice: skill checks (2d6) and attack rolls during combat (1d20). But Ariel has a specialist focus, because, you know, he is a Pilot, blah blah blah and all that stuff. =DDD

Here is the Specialist description:
You are remarkably talented at a particular skill. Whether a marvelous cat burglar, a world-famous athlete, a brilliant engineer, or some other savant, your expertise is extremely reliable. You may take this focus more than once for different skills.

Level 1: Gain a non-combat, non-psychic skill as a bonus. Roll 3d6 and drop the lowest die for all skill checks in this skill.

Level 2: Roll 4d6 and drop the two lowest dice for all skill checks in this skill.
To do that in Gamersplane, we put the instruction to roll 4 dices with 6 faces (4d6) and keep the Highest two (h2). So 4d6h2 is exactly what you get from a lvl 2 Specialist focus. =) The plus one in 4d6h2+1, is from his Pilot skill level, as usual.

After successfully plotting their course, Ariel found himself sharing the helm with Captain Corelli, navigating the ship through the cosmic currents with practiced ease. The six day journey proceeded smoothly, the course plotted with precision as they made their way towards their destination.

In the meantime, the remaining Autumn Gold crew and Maya's group mingled. Captain Corelli hired a typical mix of free trade personnel, each with their own unique background and expertise. Some were ex-navy or ex-scouts, bringing with them a wealth of experience from their previous careers. Others had signed aboard at various ports, eager to learn the ropes of spacefaring life. Among the crew was even a college kid serving as the ship's medical officer, gaining valuable experience before pursuing a proper degree in medicine. He talked with Maya a lot during the journey.

As Ariel and Captain Corelli worked together at the helm, the rest of the crew went about their duties aboard the ship. The Autumn Gold, while functional rather than luxurious, provided a comfortable enough environment for its passengers and crew. The accommodations were a bit worn, and the food, while not gourmet, was certainly edible.

The passenger area was clean and tidy, if somewhat spartan in its furnishings. There was little that was new or expensive aboard the ship, but for those simply trying to get from place to place, the Autumn Gold was an entirely acceptable conveyance.

With the journey proceeding smoothly and without any major incidents, the group found themselves with a rare opportunity to relax and unwind. Freed from the constant pressure of imminent danger or looming disasters, they embraced the chance to catch up on reading, catch up on sleep, and get to know one another better.

In the quiet moments between shifts and duties, conversations flowed freely, with stories and laughter filling the corridors of the ship. They shared tales of past adventures, exchanged tips and tricks of the trade, and forged bonds of friendship that would endure long after their journey had ended.
As the Autumn Gold descended through the thin atmosphere of Watson, the crew gazed out at the harsh and dry landscape unfolding below them. Rugged mountain ranges dominated the horizon, their peaks towering majestically against the backdrop of the starry sky. Rocky badlands and dusty plains stretched out as far as the eye could see, their barren expanse broken only by occasional patches of scrub vegetation clinging to life in the arid soil.

Ariel, ever the skilled pilot, guided the vessel, his hands steady on the controls as he maneuvered through the clouds until Settlement Island came into view, its fertile seas and warm currents making it the only inhabited region on Watson. The capital, Central, nestled snugly on the shores of two great lakes fed by Mount Salbarii, an extinct volcano looming in the distance. From above, the village appeared as a tiny oasis amidst the harsh landscape, its cluster of buildings and winding rivers serving as crucial arteries connecting settlements scattered across the island.

Soon the starship is on the ground at Walston Starport. As the crew prepared for the next steps, Michelle addressed the group, her voice projecting over the ship's intercom system.

"Attention, everyone," she began, her tone firm but measured. "We'll be making a brief stop at Walston on our way to our next destination. We'll only be staying for a few hours as we load and unload our cargo."

Captain Corelli continued, "Our vessel is on a charter. So, let's say goodbye to Maya and her friends and make the most of our time at Walston to ensure that we're ready for whatever lies ahead."
After grabbing their bellongings, stepping out onto the dusty landing pad wearing respirators and rebreathers due to the thin atmosphere, our intrepid adventurers scanned their surroundings with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. To their surprise, there were no other ships present at the starport. The vast expanse of the landing area lay empty, devoid of the usual hustle and bustle of interstellar travel. Maya furrowed her brow in confusion, exchanging puzzled looks with her companions. Adeon and Ariel also noticed the conspicuously small and empty starport.

As they made their way across the landing pad, they noticed a couple of roofed berthing pits nearby. These covered structures typically housed vessels undergoing maintenance or repairs. However, a quick glance inside revealed that they were empty, confirming Maya's suspicions.

"There's no other ships here, just the Autumn Gold" Maya muttered, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "Where is our ship?"

Dressed in utilitarian uniforms and going about their tasks with practiced efficiency nearby, the starport's ground crew seemed unfazed by the eerie emptiness. There was also a customs building situated just ahead. The structure was small and unassuming, blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape with its simple design and modest size. To enter the startown, it is necessary to pass through customs.

Wanted to try and do something while we were in downtime in the transport, let me know if it's possible @htech
In the first night on the Ship Nesta would have called Phantom (@Spectro) to the crew mess.

"Hi Phantom, seeing you guys fight that battle droid at Markus's place gave me an idea, do you know what this is?"

Nesta holds up a line shunt
[ +- ] Line Shunt
"I think this together with your ability to teleport will extend our capabilities, but you will need some training"

For the next nights when they have time Nesta will try to teach him the basics of how to apply a shunt effectively and will plan some possible scenarios

"... so when i scream "go long" thats your cue to teleport and apply the shunt..."

In the end she will leave one shunt with Phantom already
OOC:
Let me know if i need any rolls for that

OOC:
You can do that. No need to roll.

Adeon talks with Corelli

"Oi Captain, where is everyone? This place feels emptier than Ariel's thoughts, did we come too early?"
Mar 19, 2024 11:32 am
we really should have asked for some kind of tracker...

We all walk a little bit together untill one of the starport ground workers.

"Hello, do any of you have any info on the Stuck'n'a'rut? We had some info it was around here.

She smiled.

"Watson is usually this way. There are a few passing vessels but the planet imports little and exports even less. If you're looking for something specific, you can talk to the ground crew or the customs officer in that building. I have to go. Good luck"

"Unh... Not by this name, it doesn't ring a bell. All the ships look the same. Can you describe its crew?" - asked one of the ground crew

"Not really." - answered Vesta.
OOC:
You haven't asked Markus about them...
"Maybe you can check with the spaceport traffic control. They keep records of all landings and departures." - said another of the ground crew.
Mar 19, 2024 11:43 pm
"Thanks my friends, can you point me in the direction?"

Nesta shakes hands with the ground crew and calls all to head to the spaceport traffic control.

"Good morning, we were looking for some info on the log for scout service ships that passed through here in the last weeks/months, we’re on kind of a rescue mission, sanctioned by the scout service detached duty of course."
OOC:
Sorry if I’m going too fast people, dust trying to move things along to see if we can find any tracks

@htech in this setting do spaceships need to have their registration numbers marked in the fuselage in some way, like planes tail numbers? I.e.: would be able to recognize our ship from a distance without embarking?

As the crew made their way through the spaceport, they found themselves entering a dimly lit chamber carved deep into the rocky terrain.

In Watson, most buildings are underground, with just the top (entry) floor sticking up. Even that is usually half-sunken into the ground and accessed by going down a ramp or steps. Buildings are usually connected in complexes rather than standing alone, with one or two common personnel entrances and an underground vehicle garage serving a number of dwellings plus some amenities. This is due both to the cold and the thin atmosphere. Inside those buildings, the air pressure is higher and the temperature controlled by heaters.

With no one else in sight, Nesta led her group towards the customs counter, where a lone officer awaited them. The air was cool and musty, carrying with it the scent of earth and minerals. The officer, dressed in a generic uniform tailored for the harsh underground environment, greeted them with a nod as they approached.

"Welcome to Walston," the customs officer muttered, barely sparing them a glance as they handed over their identification documents. With a practiced motion, the officer scanned the documents and entered the information into the computer terminal before them, their fingers flying across the keyboard with an air of resignation.

- said Nesta

"Anything to declare?" the officer asked, their tone flat and uninterested, purposefully following his protocol and ignoring the question for now. Nesta shook her head, exchanging a glance with her companions before answering.

"Just the usual supplies and personal belongings," she replied, her voice echoing in the quiet chamber. The customs officer nodded, their attention already drifting to the next task at hand.

"Alright, you're cleared for entry. I suggest asking at the Port Authority office, its the next building that way, which maintains records of passing ships. These are freely available to anyone who wants to look, but Watson has a policy of not placing such data on the planetary internet." the officer muttered, handing back their documents with a perfunctory gesture.
