@Drakis2,@Ysolde,@testlum,@GameMaster,@Emberskyes

Let's try to keep all out-of-character chat here. I usually don't mind it in the main game thread, but let's just see how this works. I'm hoping it'll increase immersion and maybe make it easier to keep track of what's going on.

Also, for those of you that like to read all the rules at once, here's a copy of the player's section of the book. I put this together, but that doesn't mean i remember how I put it together, so a second set of eyes on it ready to correct me if I go too far off course isn't a bad thing. I'm a GM, not the pope. For those of you that don't want to read all the basics ahead of time, that's fine. I'll be putting stuff up in the reference section as needed.

With that being said, welcome! I have your character records set up for you. You can use any format you prefer. If you want a fancy sheet, THIS is probably the closest to what you'll need.

@Falconloft: Thank you for the invite

Here are my rolls for Jorgen, and then I'll take them over to the character record to get started;

-1 +1 +1 +1 +1 = 3

Heya. Using Ironsworn stats I see!

Are you alright if I revise my character concept based on the rolls? Not saying that I'll definitely do so, but the numbers might suggest a different picture from the Brother Irwin I had in mind.

EDIT: The spread works, so I'll stick with Brother Irwin after all. Still curious though.

Another question for you @Falconloft, what is the common religion in this setting?

Do I roll to see what traps I have and how much ammo I have now? Or do we do that when I go to use them?

I imagine as a hunter / trapper you're probably adept at making arrow shafts, bows and fletching while I'd be good at making arrowheads or spear tips.

3 pounds of Iron is roughly 3 billets 2 1/2" by 4" by 1/2" or 6cm x 10cm x 1cm. Reasonable crafting size but I'll go through that in a hurry.

Does the forge have a crucible for melting and recycling metals? ie. If a house is destroyed could we melt down the nails and fixtures to recover the metals?

I was reading and the Norse used to combine animal bones and horns with their iron, the thought was this infused the spirit of the animals with the metal. What this really did was add carbon to iron turning it into a low grade steel. Interesting stuff.

Hey guys, I got sick over the weekend and was WIPED OUT. I was lucid for maybe an hour tops. I'm not 100% sure I'm all back together now, but I'll reply as I can.

@Emberskyes - The Character section should be open for all. I @'d you in your thread.

Thanks @testlum for redoing that sheet. That one will work nicely. I think religion here is on the same level as magic, so no one's really ever *seen* a miracle. At the same time, the Empire did love to have everyone on the same page, so they did have a state religion. Probably quasi-monotheistic. For you guys though, as far away from the center of things as you are? You're probably along the same lines that northern Europe was with the Romans. Sure you *know* about their religion, and it sounds nice and all, but no thank you. You've been doing your rituals and celebrations for generations, and how great can the Empire's religion be if they're failing now?

In other words, I'm happy for it to be whatever mix of nature/old gods/ritualistic stuff you want. Just try to keep the practices not too dark and evil. You're not exactly *heroes*, but I'd like for you to not be the villains either.

GameMaster says:
Do I roll to see what traps I have and how much ammo I have now? Or do we do that when I go to use them?
Yes, roll now.
Mar 19, 2024 5:40 pm
The character records section btw, is where I'd like you to note any changes to your character - stat upgrades, new moves, etc. Don't need details, just enough for us to reconstruct the character should something go awry.

It's largely a farming village I gather so we'd have fairly easy access to knives, axes, maybe scythes if we grow grain, grain flails, hammers, mattocks, sickles and such.
