Martha picks up the bag from the puddle, shaking her head. "Now let's see what the fuss around this is about."

She waits for the others to come closer before opening it and seeing the contents.

And the reason for th wieght is evident. The sack is full of stone taken from the river still a little wet.

"River Rocks?! Gray exclaims while taking a closer look to see if there's anything special about them.

The rocks also confuse Martha, who does nothing but blink at them for a long moment. "Maybe they're... magic or something. Druids can talk to rocks, right?"

Hix approaches the bag, and when Martha mentions magic, perks up and focuses to try and detect any.

No magic of any kind, and the stones seems absolutely normal.

@crazybirdman Don't forget that Gray can Pursue A Lead, rather than making flat Perception checks.

OOC:
yeah, but it would have to do with my investigation of Thunders death right? I guess i was assuming these creatures and rocks weren't related to that. I suppose I could start another investigation.

OOC:
Sofar you are concentrating on the stones, there is may be more than mere stones in the sac.

Hix shuts down his magic detection, "No magic, as far I can tell, but maybe there's stuff inside the stones? Anyone have a hammer?" asks Hix
Aug 3, 2024 1:01 am
Martha turns the bag upside down and empties its contents on the ground.
Aug 3, 2024 3:06 am
Gray will take the discarded bag and search the rest of it. Looking in every pocket, pouch and pigeon-hole, and searching for any hidden storage. Then he'll double check the lining, feeling along to see if anything is concealed within.
Aug 3, 2024 8:22 pm
Seeing as nobody seems to have a hammer, Hix tries to use telekinetic strike to launch one of the rocks at either a bigger rock nearby or, if there are none, at another one of the rocks, all in an attempt to break of the river rocks in half.

Beside the big number of stones, you find a highly detailed map of Abberton and its surroundings.
Notes are scribbled on it, notably the circus with a disturbing and highly detailed movements of the circus members, with disturbing accuracy.
Oldlin's Orchards and Hawfton Mills are marked.

You find full hands full of tasty nuts and a small token resembling a feather.
Aug 3, 2024 9:45 pm
"Hix, would you be kindly tell usbif theres anything special about this feather?" he looks over the map before asking out loud "Do you think the Orchard and Mills are additional targets for attacks, or where Thunder's murderer is hiding?"
Aug 3, 2024 10:31 pm
"Whoever made this must have been watching the circus members for a long time," Martha says. "I'm still not sure what the mephit has to do with all this, but it gives us a place to go next."
Aug 6, 2024 2:29 am
Hix is going try remember if perhaps those nuts or token are the material component for some spell. They may not be magical themselves, but they be used in magic after all.

Hix grabs a single nut and eats it, really looking for any magical flavors or textures within. As he contemplates, he slowly chews, thinks, chews some more then swallows. Finally, he thinks for a second and decides, "The nuts are not very good, need salt, not magic either. The token is though, I think it makes a healing berry bush if you plant it."

Martha reaches out to swat the nut from Hix's hand the moment she realizes that he's going to pop it in his mouth, but is too late to stop him. When the gnome doesn't begin frothing at the mouth, she says, "I don't think we have time for gardening at the moment, not while there's a murderer on the loose. Where do you two think we should go next, the orchard or the mill?"
