2. Who dunnit ? Who killed Thunder ?

Martha goes to check on the scorch marks in the living room. "Another one of those mephit things made these, I'd bet," the dwarf says over her shoulder at her two companions.

"I'm inclined to agree. But a mephit didn't kill Thunder." Gray says

Keeping with the custom checking for magic everywhere, Hix is going to go ahead and detect magic in all the new rooms he can.

Hix is going to head towards the garden.

Gray will follow Hix in the hopes that they find something worthwhile.

Martha follows.

You open the place, it is a garden done by the people living here, it is enclosed by a low wooden fence. Apparently they enjoy tomatoes and pumpkins very much for there is an impressive collection. You can recognize potatoes and herbs as well.

Hix will, with keeping in tradition, cast detect magic, and assuming that nothing appears will go towards the tomatoes. He will then look for a nice fresh one, pick it, smell it and make sure it's not covered in anything dirty, and finally take a bite.

"I don't think spiders have anything to do with Thunder's death." Martha glances upward at the darkening sky. "We haven't made any progress so far beyond disturbing some mephits."

Our friends are taking some times in the garden, picking a nice red tomato for a snack.

"I agree Martha. It doesnt look like there's any useful information to be found here. Shall we head to the Orchard? Theres bound to be snacks there too" he adds with a smirk.

Hix finished his tomato, then wipes his mouth on his sleeve. "Sounds good. Looks like the tomato was not magical, by the way. As a spells-caster, it's my duty to check this kinds of things. So let's go check the orchard for magic.", he says licking his lips.

Suddenly there is two giant spiders, roughly a wolf size (size M), comes down from the ceiling to greet you.

Grey is the first one to see them coming down (23), Hix is not far behind (22), Spiders (14), but Martha was certainly engrossed in some amazing vegetable because she did not see them until they began to fight.

So Grey & Hix may do something before the spiders finish their descent and attack.
