Chapter 2: Winnowing Reach

Charun struggles to free himself from the slime trail

Sherry keeps the distance and fires again.

Leif drops his remaining sickle and opts for the trusty longbow instead, aiming and shooting at the slime.

Hurin will cast another toll the dead if the remaining slime is still going.

The slime gets battered by the attacks, a bolt hits it, arrows slices through it and finally it evaporates similar to before by Hurin's Toll the Dead. The final slime is down...

You are all now standing there in front of the cavern entrance, some glowing mushrooms near the entrance start to become more apparent as the red-orange sunset starts to appear over the horizon.

Charun pulls himself from the slim, grumbling about the texture on his talons, then heads to the hut. I thought the slime were usually found within the caves. I will check the house. Any skilled in woodlore and tracking can look for signs outside.

Inside the little house, if you could call it that as it is little more than a rundown shed. Charun finds a some old cave delving equipment, a metal lantern and some rope. Not much left in here.

Taking the supplies, as they may be needed, he searches for any writing or storage. Surely a researcher would keep records . .

She takes out her notes and begins adding to them, "Necromantic magic was clearly superior in this instance. I will have note that down as a possible theory on weaknesses and see how that pans out. In the meantime everyone should certainly know about the sticky substance they secrete. Imagine how much easier this would have been had we known not to get stuck?"

She slips her wand back into a sleeve, then approaches the entrance. "So, what else is there in here?

Charun would find that this is far older than a research shack, it was more likely used for a base station before catching slimes for the slime industry. There isn't really anything else of note, and most seems to be cleared up.

Scylla, sees some small things glittering in the light where the slimes once stood. Upon investigation she would find 10 silver where each slime once stood. As for the entrance, the glowing mushrooms let off a dim light throughout the cavern, a cool breeze comes from the cave, indicating this is not the only entrance or exit.

Coming outside Charun explains what he found to the other. I though they said we were to find this scholar who was studying the slime. All the scholars i've met prefer a good bed and lots of books to read and pater to write on. I admit I was expecting to find more information. Into the caves then or...?

With a jump and flap of his wings Charun hops to the top of the hut and looks around for any other structures, trail, or other signs of civilization. just passive perception 14 to scan, results relayed to the others before gliding back down.

Leif collected his sickle and wiped it off as best he could, making faces the entire time. While the others checked out the area, he walked to the lip of the cave mouth to scout it out.

Slowly coming closer and picking up her bolts, Sherry taps the slime with her boot to make sure they don't raise again. "Something is fishy here. Let's get in." the mapach girl proclaims.

Not seeing much more to learn out here Charum will follow the more stealthy mapach's lead when the others are ready.
