You would still need to as the player state you would use one or not. For example if he didn't have any left the spell wouldn't 'force' him to use one since he didn't have any unless it stated a 'free recovery' could be used.

Yeah, I looked up the spell in the book and it wasn't particularly clear. Haguk can decide whether he wants it or not. Presumably with the damage he has taken then he does but I'll wait for him to confirm.

If he decides against it can someone else take it? Otherwise it seems like it would be a waste of a Per Battle spell.

It seems a bit early. As far as I have been able to suss out I only have 5 damage unless I've missed some somewhere along.

Yeah I realize it was a bit early to break out the per-battle spell. But there it is.

We don't know what each other's HP is at would it be helpful to post that with our actions? Also Temp HP is a pool that gets used up first so as a front line fighter xtra don't hurt...

Yeah whether or not that is the intention when the creators wrote the character class, that is definitely how I've been playing Blackstar. There really is no plan. Magical shit just happens whether it's a good idea or not. CHAOS. ;-)

Sorry for being MIA - I traveled for the holidays and just returned. I had expected to have time for posting while away, but it didn't happen. But I'm back in the saddle and ready to roll.

Thanks for the heads up. Posted some thoughts.

He mentioned there being miscalculations on the char sheet. Have any of you noticed that?

I haven't noticed. But that could be because I'm not awfully familiar with all the mechanics & calculations.

Elke looks up and realises that the Hellwasp she was fighting is no longer above her. With horror she realises that it's looped round behind her and is trying to sting her in the back. Too late. The stinger pierces her skin through a gap in the armor.

Domitius should be at 24/24. He took -5 and +10 the first round and -5 (from ongoing damage) so far in the second round. His minion is at 14/18.

Also, I'm going to start taking advantage of the new Spoiler function at the end of my in-combat posts to keep track of my HP.

Hey guys. Sorry to be 'that player' but I think I'm going to have to duck out of this game long term. Work has mega picked up and I'm going to be travelling for business probably once every couple of months. It doesn't seem like much of an impact but work picks up a lot before and after meaning I don't get to check the game as often. I'm lucky if I can check in once a week now. And because of that (and the fact I'm new to this in general) I'm finding myself getting confused and forgetting what's going on and having to reread rules etc a lot.

Sorry again all. Not sure if it's easier to kill me off or...?

Guys, everyone else cool? Feels like we've been running this current combat forever so it feels like a bit of a drag. Any thoughts or feedback on how the game is going? Anything I could change? Anyone else want out before we go any further?
