1: Quiet on Set

Spencer’s eyes had been switching between Daria and Amanda, and the group of church executives speaking with David. It looked as if the actors spiel had come to a stuttering halt at some question from one of the execs. Spencer thought he could guess what the question had been.

What do you say we go rescue David? he asked the two women. Looks like his mouth has run out of gas and horse shit to feed the visitors.

"I’m here with you too. I know I get quiet at times."
May 15, 2024 2:59 pm
"I guess, sure, if you must," Daria replies to Shull's suggestion, shrugging her shoulders. She glances at Tevis, her expression neutral. "Quiet is good."

Daria makes no move to rescue Otera, but waits on one of the others to make the move.

Amanda slips out. If anyone should notice, she feigns a need to use the ladies room.

Once in the ladies room, she goes into a stall, closes the door, and set up an active link from her cell to the tiny spy bug/camera she's been wearing as a part of a pin on her ensemble. Exiting the bathroom, she slips out a near door of the studio into the back lot, clipboard in hand. She heads to Otera's trailer, like she does several times a day, and tried to open the door.

Sensing some unspoken hesitance, Spencer rolled his shoulders in turn and walked off towards David. He guessed the question which had seemingly stopped the conversation had been about Verity. Time to see if his guess had been right.

Where's anybody these days? Damn hard to find anyone now. We're all too reliant on cellphones and GPS tracking and social media nonsense. Soon as anybody turns that junk off it's as if they've fallen off the edge of the world, POOF!

OK, @AceRancheros would David lock his trailer? If not, do you want to describe the inside of trailer or do you trust me to do it?

The small fat man pauses before nodding at Spencer's explanation. But when will she be back... the financial ramifications to the church will not wait. Do you have a line on her, Mr. Shull?
May 16, 2024 1:21 am
"Her absence is also adding to the anticipation and is great for the pr side of it. Putting the movie in the spotlight so to say."
May 16, 2024 1:22 am
That depends on if I'm being asked to get a line on her. I don't tend to do things on church business without being asked. If you want me to, I can look into it. You just need to tell me everything you know about her, why she may have left, and where she may have gone.

The squat man scrunches his face in distaste and confusionHow would I know, Mr. Shull? I handle the books. I assumed Brian sent you here to look into the matter, is that not the case? The man rubbed the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes. Listen... all of us. He gestures to the church echelon David had been giving the tour to, ...are in the dark. That's why we came... to try to figure this out. Can you imagine what it looks like, then, when we come to get answers and all we find is the same questions we want to be asking? He turns to look alternately at David, Spencer and Blake. WHERE IS VERITY?! I don't care if Brian didn't send you... Fix it, Mr. Shull... and Fix it QUICKLY!

@Edmund_Balworth David would not lock the door. And I trust you to do it. It makes sense to me as you GM Amanda's snooping.
As David views the woman on the set, he stares off, lost in space. The worker snapping him back to reality almost drives him to anger he hears THE question asked. Where is Verity? David only stands there with a loss for words, something David rarely experiences. Seeing Mr. Shull come to his rescue, he looks at him eyes wide with appreciation.

By the second time the squat man asks, David is able to recompose himself and tries to come of lighthearted.

"I know, I know. Verity's absence has a lot of people concerned, myself included! But I'm sure she's somewhere safe. She's probably just angry about something. Maybe she wasn't happy with her contract. You know how some of these star actresses can be. A little too emotional and over the top. And believe me, I've experienced my fair share of Verity's tantrums. I'm sure she'll resurface very soon."

Could I have a Charm roll @AceRancheros ?

Amanda finds the door unlocked and so slips inside. What she finds is a mess. To the outside world, David was a clean, charismatic, put together person. His trailer spoke of someone different. Broken glass, garbage, all manner of detritus litter every surface.

Amanda captures the whole mess on her camera, as it sends the feed to her cloud for security. She had heard the rattle of the bottles previously. Now she had proof. She looks over it all to see what else Mr. Otera is really into and if there are any possible clues to his involvement in Verity Harrow's disappearance.

The squat accountant’s demeanor relaxes as he pulls his glasses off and begins cleaning them. Thank you David. We all need to keep level heads. I think we’ve all just been getting more and more worried… with Verity disappearing, Jared going into a Quarantine, Craig’s impassive attitude toward it all and now Brian’s unwillingness to pick up a phone I just think we all are feeling anxious. Please, take whoever you need and focus on getting to the bottom of this. Whatever the cost… Powerful words from an accountant.
Amanda begins taking pictures of the mess, and trying to quickly sift through the contents.

I have identified that because 1d100 is typed in, it doesn’t recognize it. It’s looking for d100. It’s one of those weird dice roller things I keep looking into and coming up without a good answer…
Amanda sifts through the trailer, having a hard time zoning in on any one thing because of the clutter. She does find a stack, and by stack I mean at least 20-30 pornographic magazines. They are positioned on a side rail going towards the fridge. What is odd, is just how flagrantly in the way the pornos are. Amanda browses the topics or fetishes contained in the top few and finds them rather explicit and misogynistic.

"Of course, we’ll do everything we can to find her and get her back on stage her. Well gentlemen, if there’s any other questions I’d be happy to answer them. Otherwise, I should really get back to rehearsing my lines. I really believe in this film and think it could help a lot of people."

The men and women in suits begin talking amongst themselves as they gradually file off set and out of earshot. Their departure leaves Spencer, David, Blake and Daria standing in the fake alley.
OOC:
Where to?
May 20, 2024 4:22 pm
"As it seems to be your task Spencer, which makes it our task, it’s time to start asking questions. Last time she was seen, where and who she was with. Has anyone been through where she was staying?"
