[Gameplay] 7. The Search for the Forgotten Pharoah

Iseret nods her agreement with Tabat. "Yes, I think that we should visit our new 'friends'."

"It could be best," Tabat says, "Before they notice this one missing and come after us in force. She was following us, they surely also are aware of our presence in the city and have similar interests in stopping us from what we're doing. It would be best if we press the advantage now."

"Well no sense in waiting. Let's see what they have to say."

The Island
Two miles downstream in the River Sphinx from Tephu, you spot the hieracosphinx patrolling the area. By watching it you can quickly tell which island is likely the right one among several that match the description given to you.

It's a low, nameless island hidden among reeds in the middle of the river amid scores of similar places. It rises just a few feet above the water, amid the reeds and is about 100 feet across.

How do you approach?

"We should approach slowly, carefully, maintain the element of surprise as long as we can," Tabat suggests. "Though, I admit being quiet is not my strongest suit."

It was afternoon when you left the library and so evening approaches. However, on the next pass of its aerial patrol, the hieracosphinx might spot you, if it hasn't already.

'Perhaps if you do not thin she can remain hidden, we see if we can let it spot us. See if it comes to deal with us itself and you three can try and take it out? Unless we think it will just raise the alarm?

"Let's just get to shore and try to avoid it. It may raise an alarm. If it comes in for a fight, I'll be ready. Does anyone know anything about these creatures?" Tabat pulls free his magical spear, in case of attack.

She nods. 'Okay, I'll follow your lead

Tabat takes up an oar, his spear laid across his lap in preparation and works with the others to quietly bring themselves closer to the island.
