OK, I'm creating my character stats:
1. Age Young -> 15 pts for att -> S 5, A 3, W 5, E 2
2. Skills: Young -> 8 pts -> as in the sheet - I tried to choose skills that makes sense with profession and backstory.
3. Talents: Young -> 1 general: Master hunter - as in backstory good in woods
4. Pride: I'm certainly Nature's Chosen One;
5. Dark Secret:
Pedrop sent a note to htech
I Was wandering if it should be public or GM-only??? Made it GM-only.
6. RELATIONSHIPS:

Brynna: Is like sister to me, I must protect her in sake of her father. Thats my duty.
Horus son of Osi: -> first I have to hear who he is.

7. Gear: knife and Flint and Steel, rolling for silver

OK... that's it I think. My sheet is updated now and should be ready:) Do we start with any WP?

Anything else I should do with my PC before we start?

Okay, the rest should be public but this one I will leave as "player's choice" =)

Even if the other players know, their PCs does not (at least at the start of the game)

Nope. Zero.

You can spend some of those 4 silver and buy anything from the Gear chapter that you have the money for. But that's optional, just know that we will start in the wilderness, as most Forbidden Lands games do.

You can also buy and sell during the game, but that will need a village and some roleplaying.

You're good to go.

PS: You can also cast CAT’S PAW and HAWK’S EYE.

Unlike D&D, you know all the spells from your talent. There is also no need to choose one/memorize every day. You still need Willpower to cast them, though.

Ok, so I want to buy:
- staff for 1s,
- Cauldron (one have to have a means to cook all the gains from the hunt ;) ) - 1.8s
- 2 Tourches (so d8) for 1s

Total: 3.8, leaving me with mere 2 copper....:)
OK?

Oh! I thought we come from Willowbrook? But it looks like we are just arriving there? Even more interesting probably, as it looks that we are already "on an adventure":) And will discover the town by the eyes of PC.

About spells: ok, soon I will note those on my sheet with my potential gear order:)

Horus is probably going to be modelled after the falcon, he likely has trained with Brynna and Faramos in the arts of battle. He is going to be a formiddable warrior, likely due to their training. Outside of hunting/scouting/being immensely strong he relies on others because his social and intellectual skills are lacking. But outside of killin' he is probably great with animals.

He probably has Asperger's syndrome a reflection of his psychic power as a half-elf.

Would you be amicable to chocobo mounts instead of horses?

You actually need a talent for that. The MEAT can only be cooked by a CHEF
(see page 74) or at an INN (see page 168),
and is then turned into an equal amount of
FOOD. But you can eat MEAT "raw" – you then consume a unit of MEAT instead of rolling your
Resource Die for FOOD. You need to do this
within a day, or the MEAT will be spoiled.

The cauldron increases the amount that a Chef can turn into FOOD. I think Brynna will have this talent, but this item will not be that useful, as you're a small group. You can use that silver for something else :)

You do.

Leaving for your adventures, actually. You begin the game a few miles south of it, choosing your next hex based on some rumors and legends that you wanna pursue. =)
Jomsviking says:

Not this time, sorry. Maybe in a future game. I wanna play this first adventure using only this RPG's "standard" setting and creatures, without custom/homebrew/adapted/imported monsters and animals.

Oh! I didn't see that I have to have a talent to cook (but... wait isn't it this way IRL ? ;) ) so changing Cauldron to Snares -> so 1 silver. And I will be left with 1 silver. Noting all of this on the sheet.

So already on the track! Cool! :)

A word about hunting: I think Faramos have very different way of hunting. He finds a pray... sneaks up on it... and kills it with his knife. I don't know if wy go with this mechanically?
I would propose using Stealth with some negative mod(because they are animals) to sneak up on the pray, and then another roll of melee - if we can even go this way?

But I bought a snare just in case you will not agree on this:) And we go with snares only.

We will go with that when there are monsters nearby or if we get into combat (with failed rolls against boars, for example), but the regular/simplified everyday hunting will be done with snares, to keep things faster.

Let's leave the knife for when you are starving or for those special combat situations, with initiative, actions and all the rules. =)

Ok. Sounds good! :)

Alright having finished the build I will move on to characterization

Okay! Looking forward to it, please share when ready

Ok sheet applied, still working on it.

I will keep it simple, Horus is the son of Isis(elf) and Osiris(human).

Osiris slew a dragon in his youth. Isis was a powerful necromancer. She left shortly after he was born. Osi is going demented as he gets older, he is a kind man but forgetful and sometimes angry.

Horus is expected to be more like Osiris. But he is lazy, and illiterate. He likes being strong and trains daily with obsessive determination. Strong, Agile, and Charming, he is a bit stupid.

Okay! First thing that called my attention were your attributes, talents and skill points.

Let me know when it is fixed. =)

Welcome aboard!

Here is Faramos' character sheet, made by Pedrop. It's better than my previous one in this thread, so use him as a template =)

Hi. Happy to be here. I struggle with first step I'm afraid. May I choose goblin as kin? Would dwarf (and whoever Brenda is) have any reasons to trust and accept goblin in their party? A dumb one but thirsty for world’s smells, silver and thrills.
Jul 30, 2024 6:38 pm
A goblin is pretty complicated to go with a dwarf + human because goblins hate daylight, which
hurts their eyes. A goblin would rather hike in the night and sleep during the day. But that would be terrible for the human.

I have seen (goblins + orcs + wolfkins) and (humans + regular races) but mixing those groups is pretty complicated.

Edit: On the other hand, a small and dumb human, thirsty for world’s smells, silver and thrills would surely work.
Jul 30, 2024 7:20 pm
I missed the fact "daylight hurts their eyes". Human it is.

PS: Brenda is available here

Yey! Grey! I'm glad - Htech - you agreed for another player as I started to think 3 would be a perfect number for this game:)

As for PC creation - Gray - I would recommend you reading a little backstory about Halflings in this setting. I would say that they are "not exactly" "the hobbits from Tolkien's books" and in fact they have a lot more in common with their Goblin... brothers(it's not a mistake) in this setting. So if you prefer "goblin, but walking within light" - they could be a good choice it seem.

Besides in QuickStart rules their is a goblin together with humans and even elf in the party, so probably it is not so uncommon in this world?

I only have read that only orcs could be some problem - from RP side. As they have a lot of hatred toward other races.

Just wanted to throw few cents from me:)
